41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EthMonitoring \ EthControl (EWBF, Claymore's, CCMiner, AntMiner, Android/iOS) on: February 03, 2018, 04:12:25 PM
Is there a way to implement GPU Temp monitoring, I had a rig that EthControl keeps stalling on, and control says it's mining but temp is like 30c and when I remote in I see EthControl is stalled. I have a script running now that will monitor GPU temps and if Temps drop it taskkills EthControl and restarts it back up, just wondering if this can be done on EthControl side so dont have to run extra scripts.

TP Link HS110's say they only work on 120v on the back of the units, but they do work on 220v as well.

I've been reading up on these since you posted the other day - these sonoffs are pretty damn cool and going to order a few to play around with.

Those rigs looks so damn neat and tidy man... I have wires hanging EVERY WHERE lol.

What cases are those BtW, looks pretty sick.

Thanks - these are from my beta build area, our production rigs are much cleaner.  Wink

The cases are just some Chinese ones I've purchased - I've probably bought every GPU case available, we typically buy at least 10 or so so we can get a feel for them (you can see some of them in the background).  Really none of them are perfect, but I'm working on my own design (and not some BS like some of the other people that just take a Chinese case and resell it), but an actual designed one made by someone who actually mines.  Wink

Keep me posted on that I like trying out new gear as well, since I'm not adding to the farm I'm currently just tinkering with the peripherals and silly stuff right now.

Even took Awesome Miner for a test run, don't know why, just something to do. It's not shabby, don't know if I'll upgrade the license for the rest of the rigs just have 10 on them right now.

To make life easy, I took some pictures for everyone - it's going to vary depending on what kinds of cables you've got, but you get the idea:

And as a little bit of rig porn, here they are in production:

I mount them with nylon spacers on one of the PSU screws - works like a champ.

Yeah it doesn't matter. I'm using a piece of shit Lenovo that has windows VISTA on it - old as dog shit. Got 6 GPU's working on it no issues. Fancy mobo's don't matter. This thing doesn't even have "enable 4g" "gen 1/2/3" etc and it works just.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining earnings are terrible, I'm shutting down for a while on: February 01, 2018, 10:57:25 PM
Correct. That comes in when you go to sell.

According to the IRS in the USA, you have to report capital gains and losses even if you haven't cashed out to fiat, because they are considering crypto a property for tax purposes.  It is a nightmare though.  I'm still trying to sort through and understand all of this.

Hey you were asking about recommendations yesterday ... I just heard the founder of this company being interviewed on Crypto 101 ... https://cryptotaxprep.com

The interview is 90 min long, but they go very in depth on the subject.

And because of this ASININE fucking retarded policy, SOMEONE WHO ISN'T ME will not be paying taxes until they sort that shit out. Nope. Not going to happen.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: At today's prices it would take 10 months to pay back 1 1080ti before you made $ on: February 01, 2018, 10:52:09 PM
I just realized the prices are high because amazon and ebay aren't allowing regular people to list these items.  I want to sell a 1070 but amazon requires written letter from the brand authorizing you as a reseller and ebay only allows established sellers to sell for over 500.

This essentially weeds out all of the people who just want to sell their items and eliminates compeition leaving the price gougers free to charge 899 for 1070s.

That's weird, I never had an issue like that back when I sold via Amazon.

Certain categories required different authorizations. I've had to get different docs authorized over the years for different accounts to sell different things. It's not that hard and at the end of the day they can all be doctored anyways. Also obviously someone who isn't me has around 25 different ebay accounts, to get by their new seller 500 limit just call in if you have all the seller info they remove the lift for you.

Personally I'd just spend a few hundred bucks get a high limit ebay and verified paypal account. No fussing around with their stupid policies and their bullshit. Also no Tax implications. and again, of course I would never do something like this.

Here's a way better option IMO - buy one of these (Amazon Prime):

http://amzn.to/2EwdI7K

buy a short C13 to C14 cable like this:

http://amzn.to/2BLaM4d

Cut it in half, and wire it into the POW (super simple, I can take some pictures if people have any issues) - connect it to your WiFi, and voila!  You not only have a more accurate sensor than the kill-a-watt, greater load (16a instead of 13a), you can calibrate it to a known load, and it has live JSON output so you could log it if you are so inclined.  It's also tolerant from 90v to 250v, so you can run it on your normal household loads when you want, as well as the 240v ones.

I use these things all over the place, I think they're the best bang for the buck you can spend - plus it's a relay, so you can remotely reboot them.  Personally I reflash them with this firmware:

https://github.com/arendst/Sonoff-Tasmota

Which makes them even better - although I've modified mine to be more miner-friendly.

$17 on amazon, $10 on their official site. Hilarious.

There will always be a place to cash out that the government can't touch.

Not where I live.

Anywhere. Someone who isn't me of course has cashed out thousands upon thousands on the dark net. Just order the cash, pay with your BTC and cash arrives. Easy as that.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: i am literally thinking about renting a cheaper apt to continue mining on: January 31, 2018, 11:24:18 PM
I'm considering moving to Detroit to buy old houses at~20k USD on a first home mortgage, mine in an unfinished room while upgrading the rest of the home, then sell and move everything to the next.  It seems like the best way to take advantage of the current markets and Michigan already has cold winters with high heating costs so mining as a form of heat is a plus.

i am thinking about that too. But on a cash basis, it looks like many of the homes on low end are asking for cash only. Mortgages by the big stupid banks has become unbearable painful. I am  also doing some research on detroit (which area is good and bad etc.,) since I never lived there.

Get a place on 7 mile. I'm sure you'll be super happy Smiley
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 31, 2018, 12:42:04 AM
I have 4 rigs now and would like to put all four screens on one.  I'm not talking about a KVM where I switch between full screens on each, I want to be able to see all 4 screens in a matrix.

Found one of these on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Multi-Viewer-different-JTECH-MV41/dp/B078KJY78J/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1517352289&sr=8-12&keywords=J-Tech+Digital+HDMI+4x1+1080P

It's only $139 and seems like it might do the job, but I haven't ever used anything like this or am familiar with these products.  Have used plenty of KVMs.

Oh, and for mouse and keyboard I already have Synergy
https://symless.com/synergy

That will let me use one mouse and keyboard and roll it across all 4 screens on the 4x4 matrix on a single monitor.

Is that HDMI multi-viewer a good one or is there a better unit or idea??

Interesting. But ... why? Miners just need to be monitored, not sure why you want continuous access to all 4 at the same time at all times. Just install a remote monitoring tool and use a KVM or remote in if any of them go down is the usual go to that just makes sense for most folks. So that's why I'm asking... just wondering ... why.

Thanks for the update - just tested it out - there's an error for ccminerx64 - says it doesn't support x64.

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sold off roughly 60 1080Ti's - Mistake? Guess we will see! on: January 30, 2018, 04:49:41 AM
i bought my pc for 850 and it has a 1070

thinking about selling the 1070 for $600 then getting 2 1080tis for $900 or $1800 for both then -$600 2 tis for $1200

do the 1080tis have 2 8 pin connectors on them or are they just like my 1070?

I think im going to get the blower  style, they stay cool.

when I put the dual fan rx 580 I was surprised on how hot it got around the card, it was causing my 1070 to go to 80c

Most are 8+6 some are 8+8 so just go on the site for the card you're thinking about getting and check the specs out - it'll tell ya.

Its a great move given the current market.  Pretty much equates to selling at the top and now being able to buy back in at the dip when it comes to mining equipment.  I sold off all my 1070s for crazy profit over the last 2 weeks while still being able to snag 1070tis and 1080ti at MSRP as they became available.  It ended up being an upgrade to all my cards without spending a dime.  Crazy times.

haha yes, I was trying to buy Phil's Hybrids but was late to the game unfortunately.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How often do your Rigs restart or crash? on: January 30, 2018, 01:05:41 AM
Mine depends on the algo. For zcoin I have about 7 crashes a day out of 15 rigs. For equihash it drops to 2-3 crash a day out of 23 rigs. They all have scripts that detects idle gpus and restarts the PC so it's automated. Likely my zcoin core oc is too high though.

Trying to dig up your scripts, used to be in your sig but can't find it - Phi is giving me a lot of memory error crashes so that would have been cool to use, changed algos though couldn't deal with it.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Sold off roughly 60 1080Ti's - Mistake? Guess we will see! on: January 30, 2018, 12:43:08 AM
Well been away last couple days for tearing down about half the farm. It's definitely sad to see them go but decided to thin down the farm.

Why did I do it? Well I figure these 10 rigs have been running for a year and with the crazy prices people are paying.... and they paid... I figured I'll just use the sales and reinvest in BtC until stock becomes available.

It leaves with with only the 10 newly built 1080 Ti rigs I built last month and a couple 1070 and 70Ti rigs, which isn't terrible.

So will I regret the decision - guess we'll find out won't we. I already have sellers remorse, seeing the hashrates 1/2'd is gut wrenching lol.

Just thought I'd share. Thanks fam.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: i am literally thinking about renting a cheaper apt to continue mining on: January 26, 2018, 07:29:49 AM
I had to move my rigs out of my home into a warehouse because of the heat and electricity.  Trying to pull 20kW of juice from a residential area will likely trigger some red flags.

Commercial rates are better (where I'm located at least) at the high end as you may get discounted rates for consistent draw... I think my calculated rate is around 0.08 USD/kWh.

In norcal where pge owns and abuses the rate, 400% over baseline will trigger the whopping 40c/kw but even at that rate it is still pretty profitable.

Nigga you in NorCal home of the fucking Grow Op, do like everyone else and rent a space and don't grow weed, plant miners not clones and seeds.

I did forget to mention a big thank you to Phil because without his suggestion I would never be using Hybrid Coolers, so thanks Phil! You are the man!
