any word either way on this?

43  Economy / Speculation / Re: I would say in the shorterm... on: September 17, 2011, 06:31:02 AM
a stall means lower prices to me. it says i do not want to buy btc at less then 5 and more then likely even 4.50 is too expensive.
usually tends to be the case

I would agree with you if you said a stall after a rally would mean prices would go lower. This case we have gone from $12 to $4 and it is stalling...think there could be a $1 rebound to say $5.50?

I think it is in order.

Wait and see.

I think if it's going to go lower its going to happen right now it doesn't need to "bounce" up first, we have tested this range a few times and it keeps holding(for now), if we move up soon I think it could be a genuine trend change.

It's waiting to lure me into buying back in.  The second I do, it will drop $1-2 permanently.

you're not alone in that worry Grin that's why these stagnations happen, people just waiting to see what way it will go, remember the sellers are also worried about the same thing basically, if they sell off big then a speculator who thinks he see's the bottom comes in and buys up everything till 7-8 range and they have to buy back half the btc at double the $ value, everybody knows these larger than normal sell's and buy's for 20k+(or more) btc can come in at these testing times,

back to watching! Grin

put the noose down boys, you can't lynch him yet

let's wait a bit and see if this is true and not greatly exaggerated.

You'd think Bruce would have learned a lesson and backed away from the community already.

He's just setting himself up for another massive disaster, which is going to be hilarious because people are falling for his bullshit again.

yes the whole vagueness of "huge upcoming announcement at the conference" thing turning out to be "more conferences!" may have soured people's enthusiasm for his promises, but I'm hoping since there is some actual details like over 500 locations nationwide ect that there will be truth to this, you have to admit if it's true and it's in trials by a large restaurant chain that's pretty big news, possible the biggest news yet.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 16, 2011, 12:57:01 AM
I think someone is pranking bruce.

that would be pretty funny, he gets these "messages" then turns up at the local restaurant ready to help, and the manager says "what the f@ck are you talking about?  Huh what coin? SECURITY!"
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tighten your seatbelts on: September 16, 2011, 12:25:38 AM
meh,

I think bit-pay and that latest news of a nationwide restaurant chain starting to accept bitcoin will have more affect on bitcoin than the scamcoins falling apart.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 16, 2011, 12:09:40 AM
maybe they were just telling him they are now willing to accept bitcoins, but would like help.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 15, 2011, 10:54:19 PM
any clue on the name of the Restaurant chain?

500 locations nationwide is pretty significant, mainstream news would pick this up is it turns out to be real.

and if they get extra business from bitcoiners turning up,  I'm sure other places will try it.

it's been a good week for bitcoin news  Tongue
52  Economy / Speculation / Re: well that just sucked. someone sold 20K at once on: September 15, 2011, 07:00:52 PM
I don't mind seeing 4 tested again sooner rather than later, it's the day's of stagnation that get on my nerves  Grin

I would have preferred steady selling into 4's though( to really test it), this will just rattle the market.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dead Cat Bounce ??!! on: September 15, 2011, 05:56:18 AM

does anyone think he didn't know the answer before he created the thread?

54  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict market movement on: September 15, 2011, 04:12:46 AM
I wonder what happened to those who did large buys at 30+$?

I genuinely feel sorry for the people who got on board at that stage, investing directly or buying too much hardware thinking they could pay it back in no time  Sad

It really was almost a pyramid scheme at that point, people who just heard of it were just jumping on board and hyping it up as a get rich quick scheme with little understanding or interest in bitcoin, I remember reading on here before the parabolic rise, that people were worried that the increased price and media attention on bitcoin will attract professional traders that will manipulate the market up and down...  Smiley I don't remember who said it  Sad
55  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I went all in on: September 15, 2011, 03:44:11 AM
nothing stated as fact?...   ---> "The $7 price spike was caused (again) by hacked accounts being emptied"

also there doesn't need to be good news to cause that buying, speculators will likely have been watching bitcoin for a while now as it declines, looking for the right time to get in, that buying to 7 made perfect sense as a legitimate buy from the perspective of somebody thinking they saw the bottom.

we'll stop hijacking your thread now Elwar  Kiss
56  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chart analysis: 4 month chance for rally ahead !! on: September 15, 2011, 03:25:28 AM
My thoughts are that the downslide has taken much longer than the take off. This is a good sign because rising stocks always rise faster than they fall.

there may be something in that also, I remember during the rise to 30 people were saying that a parabolic rise is followed by a similar decline, but it didn't happen that fast, it's a drawn out decline, that was one of the theory's of it not being a bubble and that another huge wave upwards is coming.

I guess we'll see either way  Tongue
57  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chart analysis: 4 month chance for rally ahead !! on: September 15, 2011, 03:04:20 AM
My bet is similar to the OP, but I wouldn't be surprised if we drop below the long term trend in proportion to the breakout that lead us to $32. For every crest there's a trough.
I have thought about the same thing ever since it became apparent to me that this correction is not a normal one.

Here’s a try. The result is pretty terrifying, as it shows a potential to ~0.5.

Thoughts?

I think we are going to find out soon, since were right there  Grin

I would like to think bitcoin has attracted alot of attention during the run up to $30 and also during the decline, I think people have been waiting and watching the decline looking for the perfect time to get in. some people think because it stopped rallying it means there are no new speculative investors, but a smart investor wont buy in a bear market, he will wait. it was probably one of them that drove it to 7 just now.

more importantly it's not like the blockchain got borked or anything, bitcoin itself is fine and the protocol is still 100% working as intended. and new things are always on the horizon, so I think there is enough interest in bitcoin that will stop it completely crashing long before 0.5  Grin you never know though,

you really don't want a complete crash, even speaking as somebody who has sold and waiting to buy back, if it falls to low it may never recover. and trading is over.
58  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I went all in on: September 15, 2011, 02:12:34 AM
Everything you posted there is just your own speculation about the possible cause of the buying to 7, there is nothing wrong with speculation, but don't present it as fact. it may well have just been normal trading driving to 7, you should expect the largest orders appearing when people try to predict a top or bottom. and that those larger than normal orders will rattle the market.

I already read that mtgox support stuff, he did not say the main buying to 7 was due to compromised accounts, and I never thought it was. It looked like 4's could be a bottom at that time. my tiny buy wouldn't have moved it beyond 4's so I wouldn't be as exposed as the big players who bumped it to 7 as I could just change my mind if it came back down  Grin

59  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I went all in on: September 15, 2011, 12:32:34 AM
also, I'm sure mtgox would have contacted the guy that bought the btc driving it to 7, to confirm it was real, an account as giant as that getting hacked and used to buy coins would have been news on its own, after going to the trouble of correcting the small trades he wouldn't let that giant one slide if it was hacked.
60  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I went all in on: September 15, 2011, 12:20:24 AM
I was seriously thinking about getting back in at 4's after it held the second time, but I went to bed, woke up and the rally to 7 had happened, the buyers at 4 are in the better position, since they can just sell if the price starts going down to that level again.

The $7 price spike was caused (again) by hacked accounts being emptied.  If you missed the opportunity to buy bitcoins in the $4 range then sit tight: you'll get your chance in the next few days.

I haven't seen info about hacked accounts causing the buy to 7 confirmed anywhere, and I looked, do you have a link?

I wasn't thinking about buying at 4 for the sake of it, it's long term support, and the chance to fall into 2-3 was there, and it didn't happen, then when it dropped a second time to 4, it held again, it was then as it started to move up again I considered buying back, only I think a big player thought the same thing.
