41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SONM - MPV testnet release 25 Dec, views? underpriced? on: December 16, 2017, 08:13:59 PM
I just read the announcement on Reddit:

https://mvp.sonm.io/

Seems like good progress in 6 months.

Is this project ligit?

Price at $0.24, market cap $88million, rank 113.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/sonm/

Tempted to buy some.

Does anyone have knowledge of this project or team?

I vaguely remember the ICO.

Thanks in advance.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WARNING] Walton Chain (WTC) is a SCAM on: December 16, 2017, 11:35:31 AM
I'd be exceptionally surprised if this project is legit, it stinks. And unfortunately, many people have been sucked in.

I'm sure that history will prove me right.

The team do not engage, only newbie thugs and shills engage, they appear to have no following in China, no tangible proof of legitimacy - just "here is a video of the team, office and product".

Besides that, even if it were legit, the fundamental flaw with the product is that RFID tech will not power the IoT. It has many shortcomings, including price.

I suspect deadlines will be missed, the code will not be forthcoming (or copy and paste), only the hand-picked shills will get to "test" the product, and, as with projects like ChainLink, the operation/updates will disappear overnight.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What about ChainLink? on: December 16, 2017, 11:27:02 AM
no update / wprd from team since early November, rumour it's a scam.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WaltonChain WTC on: December 15, 2017, 04:34:27 PM
Don't get fooled by the hype, fake news or blogs written as if they are news.

I look forward to seeing the product and code next week.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tell me I'm wrong: Does cryptokitties expose the weaknesses of ETH? on: December 12, 2017, 12:59:49 PM
Actually yes it is,cryptokitties show us the truth whether it is worthy or not to invest in ethereum,i just dump all my ethereum and bought LTC instead.

Unless you need the smart contract function.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SALT Lending - Q4 Milestones on: December 12, 2017, 09:24:33 AM
Does anyone know how the team is getting on and whether they are likely to meet the Q4 milestones?

Q4 2017
Launch Blockchain-Backed Lending Platform
BTC Collateralised Loans
Launch Loan Fund

I cannot access SALT on Telegram and the recent email update, blogs, and social media make no mention.

I know they are sensitive, for regulatory reasons, about disclosing market-sensitive data but this is crypto and I am a token holder.

Thanks!
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Zcash worth to invest in it? on: December 11, 2017, 05:53:41 PM
I can see ZCoin overtaking Zcash in2018.

Quote

I'm pretty sure OP doesn't actually believe his nonsense. Perhaps he just enjoys messing with people and clowning around. Well, he's helped me get good info. Smiley

He's clearly a poor researcher:

I'm a fan of Zcoin. Much better privacy that Monero and a good, innovative road map.
Very undervalued.

2 October 2017:
Walton WTC $7.82
ZCoin XZC $12.17

11 December 2017 (today):
Walton WTC $7.42
ZCoin XZC $46.07

So I'd say that I'm a pretty good researcher.

And, I also hold Monero, which is doing nicely too.

Not sure if Peter1984 is still around, probably another WTC shill account.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Walton Chain (WTC) scam?: down 20%, no code & FCA investigates on: December 11, 2017, 10:01:33 AM
I have long thought that WTC is a scam or, at very best, a sham with no chance of delivering the project.

Here is a quick recap:

  • Tenuous claims about the credentials of the team and support of the Chinese government
  • Fake news stories
  • No code, GitHub or evidence of work
  • Scores of paid shills (many newbies) being aggressive toward those who challenge and trying to pump
  • Market manipulation, suspicious accounts (an account that is not an exchange or the team expense fund controlling 1/5 of the tokens)

The project has shown a video of the 'team' messing around with some RFID equipment and, apparently, a blockchain test on a monitor.

Interestingly, the team chose a select group of people from the community (I suspect on the payroll) to test the alpha.

People have been pressured into buying 'Guardian Nodes', not featured in the whitepaper, before a deadline of 9 December.

On 9 December people were asked to move their tokens to MyEtherWallet to lock in the 'Guardian Nodes' - too late for anyone else to have one - and before a move over to Walton's blockchain (no evidence of work on this i.e. code has been published).

Apparently, the beta chain will be publicly tested / available "early December" - but no announcement or sign of it. It is very difficult to see how this can happen if nobody has tokens for the new chain.

I have reported the project to the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

I do not want to see good people lose money.

Please approach this project with extreme caution.

50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When buying multiple altcoins, Do you have multiple exchanges. on: December 10, 2017, 09:01:06 PM
some coins are only available on one exchanges, so I have several accounts. unavoidable.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WARNING] Walton Chain (WTC) is a SCAM on: December 10, 2017, 11:11:39 AM
Why is it always a 'newbie'!

Walton Chain (WTC) is an elaborate scam and everyone is going to get shafted.

Where is the code/evidence of progress?
A video of people messing around with RFID and a screen allegedly showing the program <, not evidence, not proof.

Why have people been asked to lock up tokens on MyEtherwallet, what exactly is a Guardian node, how does this related to the change over to Walton's own chain, how can the chain be tested if everyone tokens are locked up, no evidence of a hard wallet, why is there a wallet with 5million tokens that is not the team or an exchange, why is there always pressure on people to buy more tokens, why so many paid shills and newbies?

This project stinks. And people have been warned.

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WaltonChain WTC on: December 09, 2017, 08:32:27 PM
I still consider this project to be a pile of horseshit.

RFID, fine. But I can see absolutely no need whatsoever for the blockchain.

Any code on GitHub yet?

Great God you are dumb

Thanks!

All I've seen so far is a bunch of people messing around with some rather unspectacular RFID kit.  And a retired university lecturer vaguely linked to some RFID patents that have nothing to do with the project.

No code. No problem to solve. The retail supply chain does not need blockchain. The centralized system works fine.

Imports and exports (the paperwork) could massively benefit from blockchain.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero wallets on: December 09, 2017, 07:09:10 PM
if you use the Monero desktop wallet, I experienced a few bugs and it takes a good while to sync the entire chain.

How long does this take ? 24hrs ? And how much GB do I need on the ssd to do this ?

I have monero but could never get the wallet to sync and have left them on the exchange.

Looking to buy more but want to store them myself

IIRC, it took me about 3 to 4 days to sync the whole blockchain. Although you have the option of downloading the blockchain as a file to do your initial sync, this is not recommended because it really consumes a lot of resources and still takes up time. And I think when I terminated the sync halfway, I had to resync the file again from scratch!

I might have done something wrong so any other experts out there please feel free to correct me.

It took me the best part of a week and stalled halfway through but I found a fix. Suspect the problem is now resolved.

I got fed up with updating the sync after not logging on for a couple of months - best to regularly sync.

Can't remember how much memory - it was insignificant in terms of my capacity.

I now have my Monero on Bittrex now.

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most promising cryptocurrency on: December 09, 2017, 01:02:06 PM
2018 will be a big year for:

Waves, Monero, Zcoin (In my opinion, will become the best privacy coin).

Long-shots:

Hive & Crave

56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / two coins with x100 potential: Hive (HVN) & Crave (CRAVE)? on: December 09, 2017, 08:12:16 AM
Having spent some time researching the matter...

I recently bought Hive (HVN) and Crave (CRAVE)

Hive
https://www.hive-project.net/

Hive is currently trading at $0.057 (0.00000369 BTC) with a market cap of $21,000,000.

As far as I can see, it's the same project as Populous (PPT) which is a top 20 token, but with a less flashy website, less hype and better devs.

It is liquidity broker. The issue being resolved is that companies can wait for 30 - 90 days for payment. A big issue for many companies.
http://www.nasdaq.com/article/a-blockchain-based-solution-to-liquidity-needs-cm818207

Its ICO was not excessive and won an award.

Alpha out this month and a major partnership is going to be announced.

Only on HitBTC but the team are planning to be on bigger exchanges soon.

Crave

Recently revived:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2547950.0;topicseen

Crave is a currency, now focusing on privacy, with a small circulating supply of just 1.45million.

Trading at $1.90 (0.00012007 BTC) market cap $2.75m.

Attractive to miners, just 500 tokens for a master node.

Strikes me as a coin which could attract a cult following or be adopted by traders on the dark web.

Only available on Cryptopia with plans for biggest exchanges soon.

As always, do your own research.

Just sharing my thoughts.

Having looked at hundreds of coins, it's amazing how much rubbish is out there!

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves hold for longterm Good or Not? on: December 09, 2017, 07:41:16 AM
Anyone think it can hit ETH prices?

Difficult to say. Depends on the success of its developments vs the competition and the smart contract function.

I can see Waves doing x5 (top 10 tokens) or even x10 (top 5) in 2018.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tell me I'm wrong: Does cryptokitties expose the weaknesses of ETH? on: December 08, 2017, 07:14:52 PM
What are the best alternatives in terms of smart contracts for Dapps?

Am I right in thinking that nothing is proven in the same way as Ethereum but lots of interesting projects have betas or key milestones early next year?
