41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: October 25, 2013, 09:14:24 PM
Am interested in some parts to DIY a few of these (I know it is a lot of work, my labour is cheap).  Can anyone in Nth America sell me some parts, am looking for 4 x (PCB and semiconductors - I can't imagine anyone but mouser/digikey is going to sit down and split up all the passives).

I have assembly purchased from Steamboat but I with my chips refunded I don't think I'll see any parts for some time.

I want to make a 8 chips per board variant, then play with the voltage a little as per hex16.

I'll be helping setup his hosting center on Monday,so be ready for emails & updates again,VERY soon  Wink

I'm very surprised we're still talking about hosting.  BTCguild was at about 35TH/s when I ordered my K16s, it is now over 750TH/s.

I'm pretty worried about BkkCoins as his disappearance seems so out of character.

I agree and really appreciate the spirit of your post.  The most puzzling thing to me is that he seemed to have ordered most of the things he was reselling - all he would have to gain would be the unused funds for shipping costs.  It's a sad fact that there's no shortage of K16 parts around that's for sure, they're not something he could resell for much.

Website seems off air to me, DDOS I guess?

Weird seems like someone is killing your DNS.

Please excuse the simplistic question, but does anyone know how the BitFury chip works?

This is an Avalon thread, you won't get much on BitFury here.

Is it confirmed that Bkk is gone for good, took the money, and left the community ?

Still MIA.

Ryan,

Perhaps you should also talk to sensei (he's in Michigan) he mentioned on the K16 thread that he has enough parts for 500 boards - that would go a long way towards making 10k for a group buy (presuming the quantities will be the same the second time around).

Also, from steamboats buy, it is good to be clear up front about your right to make decisions on behalf of the group in the event things go wrong - lost in shipping, cancelled by bitsyncomm and set expectations on how much refund, if any, buyers would expect should things go wrong.

I'd like to participate but I'm waiting to hear from steamboat about the parts I've bought from him.

Thanks,
Tom

Anyone ever running a group buy can take some lessons from whats happened here.  It seems fairly important to be clear about the cancellation policies both if the organiser cancels, the supplier cancels and buyers cancel.  I'm not criticising sb at all, this is all hindsight.

Is there any update on Gen 2 chips?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=301010.msg3277416#msg3277416

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I'm going to go ahead with a group buy, then, as soon as Avalon's terms of sale are available. And again, if you're interested in being notified when that happens, PM me or watch this thread. I'll be announcing it here when it happens.

Refund received, don't recall the request date, something like Sept 11.  Thanks, SB.

Looking forward to doing something with those unassembled K16 parts, prefer Avalon II for me.

What was for sale? The boards?

They had miners listed on ebay before BKK had a chance to debug them (possibly before he had even assembled one, I can't recall exactly).

Here is the post I was referring to.

Here is my reaction at the time

*edit* BTW I didn't even consider TH as scam but they took a big risk on lots of fronts and most of them seem to have come back to hurt.

Fyi,
Some of the TerraHash customers are banding together for a lawsuit, any information or PM's that you feel may help would be appreciated.

Saw that coming.  There's fairly good evidence in this thread that they were listed for sale before they were working. Sorry I don't have the time to track down the posts, search for ebay links in this thread (if possible).

Personally I'd like to see the option to receive assembled boards without asics and no assembly/shipping refund.  This is the only way I can see the parts being useful to me - I don't see anyone taking the time to divide the parts up and return them individually.

Once the gen2 chips come out, assembled boards without asics may well have some resale value, hopefully more than the current potential assembly refund offer (which I personally accept as reasonable under the circumstances).
55  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [TENTATIVE] Avalon Gen. 2 Chips Group Buy on: September 24, 2013, 09:54:31 PM
Ryan,

I'm interested.  Hopefully the K16 design will be stable by then and we can start hashing earlier.  I'll probably have 4 K16s to load with Gen2 chips, so potentially 64 chips depending on price.

Cheers,
Tom
56  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: September 17, 2013, 02:15:40 PM
Individual K16s are working fine...  If so, why don't they process the orders from all the people who ordered?

Different answer for different values of "they". Most group buys seem to be abandoning this design and cancelling their orders with Bitsyncom.

As I understand it individual K16s only work with NOR gates from particular manufacturers.
57  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 14, 2013, 10:57:24 PM
Personally, I'd rather have had the miners. I've looked at the firmware code, and while my programming experience was a while back, it appears there is a serious problem with the control function which switches on banks. As in, that function is not there, and there isn't a way to keep track of which bank is hashing the 0 bits, and which one is hashing the 1 bits....Bkkcoins used the the same preloading routine per bank of 8 chips, but it needs some sort of supervisory routine.

AFAIK that is not the case.  All 16 chips are working on the same piece of work, you don't need to know which chip or which chain the result came from.  For a single board the code is mostly intact.  There do seem to be electrical problems with the result data though.
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 14, 2013, 02:21:30 PM
Anyone else got a refund today?
I submitted the form from steambot's email on the same day I received it, but no reply nor other info..

Refund RX here.  Wish it hadn't come to this but BTC mining is now mostly out of reach of the small guy it would seem.
59  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 11, 2013, 03:44:52 PM
Why are we not pursing a full refund for all batches?

You need to re-read the email.  If everyone requests a refund, then all batches will be refunded.  "We will process any orders for those that wish to continue with assembly, and our policy of not forcing anyone to accept a refund still stands."  This is a group buy, by participating you need to accept that you're somewhat bound by the decisions of the group.

I think from his email it is clear he is recommending we ask for refunds (as he has for his chips).
60  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 11, 2013, 03:27:31 PM
It's in the email that was sent this morning (and quoted in this thread) - K16 works for half the chips (it will hash with 8 chips at full speed). Hashing on all 16 doesn't appear to be working at this time.

Seems to me the real problem now is lack of incentive to get it working.  Most of the people experienced with the design and so downhearted they've downed tools.  I think the design is likely to be working in a week or so.  I feel for those chips have been delivered for a few weeks now but they have no working design (not in this group buy).
