PM if interested.

I noticed you guys talking about 1600W PSU's and I just happen to be selling brand new, sealed in the box EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD 1600 WATT PSU.

I've been running 3 of them at home since late June without problems and have an extra one.  I run Avalon 741 on each one and PSU's never gave me any issues.

If you're in the market for one you would be helping a fellow pool member in the process Wink

Many thanks for the warm welcome!  I'm very impressed thus far with the kano.is website, and the extensive analytics with shifts, hashrate, and luck probability.  Quick question - Is there anyway to determine your predicted payout when a block hits?  I haven't yet been mining for the 5nd period, but would like to know what the expected payout will be.  Any advise?
Short form of advice...wait and see.  Roll Eyes

Seriously...it depends on your hash rate as a percentage of the pool rate, your 5Nd, and the size of the block found. I run 35TH and have been seeing between .005 and .007 BTC/block. That bit of variance is actually more due to the size of the block. Some are 14, some are 16.

So...again, seriously...wait and see. The variables are such that you'll drive yourself nuckinfutz trying to project.

We had a lot of chunky blocks last 2 weeks which is helping us getting higher than normal payouts and offsetting bad luck of being 10 blocks behind estimate. For 3 miners that I run I typically get around 0.0036 but it jumped up to 0.004x with last 2 weeks.
46  Economy / Computer hardware / [ WTS ] BRAND NEW EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD 1600 WATT PSU - $360 on: August 31, 2017, 11:46:12 PM
Hi guys,

I'm a new miner who bought 4 of these 2 months ago and have been using 3 of them with one being still in unopened box.  I'm sending my unused miners to a data center and will not have use for the 4th PSU.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438033

$360 shipped to CUSA, more to other places.

In the near future after I ship my currently in use miners to data center I will also be selling my 3 used PSU.  Will update thread accordingly when that happens.

Please PM for more info!

47  Bitcoin / Hardware / Found hosting, PSU dilemma??? on: August 30, 2017, 11:35:37 PM
Hi guys,

Ive been mining for last 2 months at home and waiting for data center to have capacity.  Now I am in final talks with one host and their PSU rental partner wants too much for rental of PSU.  The rent of 1 PSU for 2 miners for 10 months would be the equivalent of purchase price of same PSU from them & shipping included. I've checked places and same PSU can be purchased under $100 with free shipping.  I would need to get breaker board & VGA power cables & good power cable in addition to the PSU.  Can someone recommend good places to get breakout boards and cables?

Can I use these PSU individually for each miner instead of using 1 for 2?

49  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Police raids of miner homes? Should I expect one soon? on: August 29, 2017, 12:09:45 AM
Go with your gut feeling, but i've not heard of any miners homes being raided unless you live in some communist country.

In regards to the 3rd point, probably unrelated. I seriously doubt they would tip you off by ordering a book like 1984.

In Soviet Russia you dont mine Bitcoin, Bitcoin mines you! Smiley
50  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Police raids of miner homes? Should I expect one soon? on: August 28, 2017, 10:35:11 PM
70kWh in a day is only only 2.9 kWh in a hour or 2 T9s.  Yes likely very loud but some people put up with it.

Running 2 miners would not cause any usual activity from power company.

This summer we had a few interns and one of them said his college roommate runs 10 x S9 in dorm apartment because of free electricity and central air conditioning. Don't know how people would be able to live in dorm room with 10 miners running Wink
51  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Police raids of miner homes? Should I expect one soon? on: August 28, 2017, 09:57:40 AM
All of this has happened within two months since I started mining, I use about 70 KWh per day...

Dude how do you mine in apartment @ 70 KWh? I have 3 miners running at 1.2 KWh each and there is noise / heat problem. To be @ 70 KWh it would be 58 A741 running.  If you are running such a large mining operation from an apartment I am surprised none of your neighbors approached you about the noise.  I am currently running my miners under 3600 RPM so they're not very noisy but nevertheless you can hear across entire apartment, even front door if door to the room where they are is open.

I would talk to your building management first, tell them about suspicious activity and tell them you have expensive mining equipment and are concerned. Call electrical company and ask them about discounts for high electrical consumption, tell them you are a bitcoin miner.

Thanks for a the replies, looks like I started a good topic.

By Aug 1 I will probably have near 0.25 BTC mined and while it might be small amount I would not want to lose my earnings.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Wallet recommendations for Aug 1 - segwit / bip148 on: July 17, 2017, 08:22:01 AM
Hi guys,

I recently got into Btc mining and planned on using a hardware wallet (Ledger Nano S) but it's sold out and will only be available in August. Because of that for now I send my mining earnings to Coinbase.

On lieu of upcoming changes on Aug 1 can you recommend a wallet I should be using to store my fraction of a bitcoin safely?

58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What to mine with EVGA G2 1600 PSU? on: July 14, 2017, 03:53:32 PM
Hi everyone,

I have few PSU that I want to switch from using with Avalon 741 to start mining altcoins.  I have friends who bailed on me from hosting Avalon 741 (free electricity) and I want to see if I can find something else I can use the PSU for & mining.  I want something that's not as loud as Avalon 741 and that doesn't generate as much heat.
59  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Canaan AvalonMiner 741 Support/Guidance/Pointers on: July 11, 2017, 11:33:37 PM
When they're working its blue light and when everything is setup correctly it starts in 1 min or so after you power on.  Try rebooting your controller see if that helps.  I am using my own controller and USB power cable that I bought as a kit has power on / off button which helps with easy reboots. Double check your cables connections, looks like your RPi controller is not even seeing the miner.  It has to be something between the miner & RPi.
