41  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase fees? on: July 17, 2017, 06:09:03 PM
Thanks very much for the reply!

Can you tell me if there are fees for transferring to your wallet? Or is that free?
42  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase fees? on: July 17, 2017, 05:45:32 PM
May have just made an idiot thread lol. Might have been thrown off by the $ sign in front of my total balance. It must be showing the total dollar amount, when converted to bitcoin. Which will of course go up, if bitcoin goes up. Can anyone confirm?
43  Economy / Exchanges / Coinbase fees? on: July 17, 2017, 05:36:07 PM
So I transferred $2500 to my coinbase account. A week later, the money finally hits my account on Coinbase. Only instead of $2500, or a bit less because of a fee, my account only shows $2196. Where is all the rest? Was the fee for one transfer really $304? That can't be right. If it is they can kiss my business goodbye.

After reading through their help section, it looks to me like the fee should have been about $36. Kind of high if you ask me, but I can accept it I guess. What I can not accept is $304. Anyone know what may be happening here? I sent them a support request but of course that will take days.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: When will bitquence hit the exchange? on: July 17, 2017, 02:15:25 PM
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Yeah I couldn't find out so I didn't invest. I'm not really interested in waiting 6 months (or longer) for it to hit the exchange.

Do any ICOs ever reveal this date? I would think that they'd have a hard time finding investors, if they're not up front about the date it'll hit the exchange. I mean who knows... maybe it never hits the exchange. And they just run off with the money or come up with some excuse. Or "go out of business". I can see it now:

"Sorry guys, we spent the money on the project, but we just couldn't get it off the ground."
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / When will bitquence hit the exchange? on: July 15, 2017, 01:20:46 PM
I want to buy some of this ICO, as I like the idea and I like the project. But I can't do that until I know what date it will actually hit the exchange. Is there any way to actually figure that out? Looked all around and I can't seem to come up with a date.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What ICOs did you buy? on: July 15, 2017, 01:03:15 PM
I want to buy bitquence, but I can't figure out what exchange they'll be on, and more importantly WHEN its going to hit the exchange. I can't invest without that information.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a decent strategy? (selling ico first day on exchange) on: July 15, 2017, 08:41:11 AM
Investing in ICO's for profit then asking us if it's cool to dump on day one ?
What is there to weigh in on here ? LOL

Ok well then maybe day 2. Or day 3. However long it takes for the price to spike up because it has just hit the exchange. I'm trying to figure out your meaning here... are you saying you wouldn't do this because you want to actually believe in the project? If so that's a noble goal for sure. Take a look at UEC or whatever. Its "Useless Etherium Coin." It went up to $50. All the while explaining that it was completely worthless. Just because of all the hype and free press it was able to attract, a lot of people made a lot of money on it. Are you against this? You're saying you'd never do this? Your meaning is still quite ambiguous.

That is pure money hoarding I guess.
You didn't even look at how the coin will progress and just take the profit from investing then a sudden withdrawal.
Where is the faith in the coin there.
You supported it before the ICO and after all of that it is just fake advertising when you meet the a certain profit.
But have you ever think of a what if? What if suddenly it will rise and you could not even buy a single coin of it because of the expensive price.

Well here's my .02 on that...

If we're being honest here, then we're all in this to make money. I think you already know that the cryptocurrency market would be about 5% of its current size, if you took away all the people that were looking to make money. It needs that money, if these great technologies are ever going to grow.

I find that this topic often leads to discussions like this. Which are pump and dump vs buy and hold. At this time, it looks like I would have faith in, and want to buy and hold Stratis, and Steem. I like those 2 projects, and think that they have great potential. I'd even feel some sense of pride in having contributed to them.

But if I can do some successful pumps and dumps of others, I'm going to. And think about it: If I did a few good pump and dumps, I'm not just going to say "Well that's it, I'm done. I'm now going to take the money out and go buy me a new car." I'm not going to do that, and I'd hazard a guess to say that most other investors aren't either. They're much more likely to reinvest. Which is certainly what I'd do, upon having some success. So that "lack of faith" in a particular project, actually leads to the better more worthy projects, getting more money to fund them. Cause I'll take my gains and turn around and invest them in projects that have a future.

Hope that reply explains my mentality a bit, and I look forward to hearing your reply.

I love this topic and i look forward to all the top shelf replies from the NOOB account investment advisers.

Ok well, do you care to weigh in? What would you do? I take it that you never invest in ico's?

You and me both, it's like these guys WANT to lose money

I really am interested in learning, and avoiding mistakes. From your reply, it sounds like you've spotted something wrong. What would that be?
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a decent strategy? (selling ico first day on exchange) on: July 14, 2017, 07:34:44 PM
Ok thanks again for the help everyone. You guys are really helping to educate me. I'd like to ask: If not on the very first day it hits the exchange, then when is a good time to sell the ICO?

From the replies, I've gathered that the first day, would be too soon. It seems like the 2nd or 3rd day may be better. But I haven't been watching long enough, to have seen how that usually goes. So would it be better to sell the ICO on the 2nd day, the 3rd day, or the 5th or 7th day? How long does it usually take to start dropping? Reading this thread, it seems like it keeps going up even after the first day is over.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a decent strategy? (selling ico first day on exchange) on: July 14, 2017, 01:11:06 PM
Thanks for the reply, its much appreciated! That sounds like good advice; I'll incorporate it into my ico strategy.

51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is this a decent strategy? (selling ico first day on exchange) on: July 14, 2017, 06:43:37 AM
I'm still honing my strategies of course, but the one I'd like to ask you all about, is doing a pump and dump on ICO's. And my question is this: If an ICO is well hyped and generally not viewed as yet another scam, would a good pump and dump strategy be, to buy into an ICO and then dump it on the first day that it hits the exchange? So you'd buy into an ICO that actually seems to have promise, and that the community generally doesn't believe is another scam. Then, on the very first day that it hits the exchange, dump it.

From what I can tell, most ICO's (even the scam ones unfortunately) do pretty well on the first day that they hit the exchange. They've finally made it to the exchange, and lots of new people want to buy some. But if you bought say 30k or 100k coins of it before it hits the market, now you're in a good position to make some money on that day. Basically you're dumping it before it has time to taper off. Granted, this strategy won't be useful all that often, because its not every day that a decent ICO actually hits the exchange. But when it does, and you've done your due diligence with your research on it, would selling it the first day it hits the exchange be a good pump and dump strategy?
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't invest your money in Ico on: July 12, 2017, 07:17:01 AM
Don't most ICO's see a big pump on the first day that they are on the market?

Do most ICO's make a lot of money on the first day they hit the exchange? Because, you can just dump the ICO on the very first day. You would buy into the ICO before it ever hits the market. Then on the first day when the price is way up, you dump it and make a profit.

Is this what happens with most ICO's?

If so, then who really cares if an ICO has a good long term strategy for being successful. All that would matter would be that they were good at hyping up their coin.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't invest your money in Ico on: July 12, 2017, 05:15:46 AM
...but I always check is there scam accusations against some of them...

The rest of what you mentioned in that sentence is usually fairly easy to check out. But allegations of a scam are a bit harder to verify. It looks to me like every single coin that ever existed, has been called a scam and usually in a somewhat believable manner. I'm not saying you can't find out, but it is a bit more difficult.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Siacoin... their game plan seems scary on: July 12, 2017, 05:08:33 AM
Yeah i just bought sia yesterday when it was down something like 20%. I've decided that's the only time I'm ever going to buy, is when there are big corrections like that. Gotta get it for a good price.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Siacoin... their game plan seems scary on: July 11, 2017, 02:39:35 PM
It appears that I was indeed poorly informed. Thanks guys, you've been a real help. It does seem like it will indeed be at least a year before Siacoin actually begins to climb. Looks like a great idea that is currently very inexpensive and has a good ways to go. Just what I was looking for..

Now, are there any disparagers? Looks like we've heard the good, now how about the bad. Is there another, much more relevant coin that is already doing this? Or perhaps an ICO or some other up and comer, that is set to do a better job than Siacoin?
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Siacoin... their game plan seems scary on: July 11, 2017, 11:23:46 AM
I'm asking this because I'm looking for a CHEAP (like not even worth a whole penny) cryptocurrency to invest in, for a long term buy and hold strategy. Something I can buy $100 of, and then hold it for a few years. So Siacoin caught my eye because its inside of the top 30.

But I'm not sure I agree with their whole idea. Storing your data, on someone else's hard drive. That whole thing just seems like a bad idea imho. Big companies like google check the health of their drives, and replace them at certain intervals. With siacoin, you may very well end up storing your precious data on a hard drive from 2002. Not to mention, hax. What is the likelihood of someone who is offering storage, being able to get into that data and just have them a good look around? Most people I know don't want some random person just going through all their data.

So what are your thoughts on siacoin's long term viability? Of course with crypto's, one never knows. Could be siacoin hits $0.10 next week. But we have to do our due diligence and learn what we can. So would YOU ever use such a service? Would you be cool with having a buttload of your data stored on some random guy's hard drive? All I have is a lot of cellphone pics, and some family photos. But even still, what if the guy's girlfriend goes psycho and tosses the PC out of the 4rth floor window. While the team may be good, I'm just not sure if the idea itself has much merit.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't invest your money in Ico on: July 11, 2017, 11:12:27 AM
If you researched the ICO, and it seemed the general consensus that people liked it, wouldn't the ICO at least be good for a quick pump and dump? Most of the "good" ICO's seem to have a good first day on the market. Or maybe first couple of days. Where the price goes way up just because its the first day/s. Wouldn't a good pump and dump strategy be, buy into an ICO and then sell it at the end of the first day? Just ride that initial wave that you know is coming. On the first day.

Good idea, or bad idea?
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Does Bytecoin (BCN) have the chance to rise to +1$? on: July 11, 2017, 06:00:16 AM
ALL lies and bullshit, do not believe any of this.

If you don't mind, I'd like for you to explain why. There are a lot of agendas floating around out here on the internetz, and readers of these posts (like me) will always have a hard time telling who is telling the truth, and who has an agenda. So unless someone supplies some proof, I'll have no choice but to consider the fact that either of you could be lying. As he said, Bytecoin is in fact on poloniex. Of course that doesn't mean that it will remain there. I haven't invested anything in bytecoin, but I was interested in a long term buy and hold strategy with bytecoin. Drop say $100 on bytecoin, and then sit back and wait a few years until it reaches a dollar.

If you're saying that is never going to happen, then I'm definitely interested and would like to know why. Something that I can at the very least google and check for confirmation. If its a scam, then fine its a scam and I won't invest with them. But I want to see proof. If its not, then its not and I also want to see proof of that. From reading this thread, it seems safe to come to the conclusion that nobody in the thread actually knows for sure.

Which in itself could point to it being a scam. If they can't get clear, comprehensive data out to investors, then there is some kind of problem on their end. Then again, every crypto (including bitcoin) has been called a scam at some point. Every single one.
