41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have any books to recommend? on: May 24, 2019, 11:14:05 AM
Read the stuff by Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

He's a former trader (not crypto) with tons of real world advice.

He takes probability theory and turns it into real world examples.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what's your view of BTC stable while altcoin pumpin? on: May 24, 2019, 11:12:22 AM
The definitions of stable have been updated?

Bitcoin has just swung over 100% in a couple of months.

That's not being stable at all.

It was predictable that after BTC other altcoins would pump.

I think BAT for instance is ripe for a major pump soon.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH vs. BNB on: May 24, 2019, 11:07:05 AM
BNB is centralized, emitted by a private corporation.

In essence BNB is everything a crypto is NOT supposed to be.

What's the difference between BNB and a casino chip? None.

If Binance faced any legal issues, technical issues or whatever, BNB is gone.

ETH on the other hand is decentralized. There are millions of people mining it and running full nodes.

IMO there's no question that ETH is the better crypto.

44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: who is the real one? on: May 24, 2019, 11:03:47 AM
Is Satoshi Nakamoto  and CSW the same person?
who is the real one?
Always confused,Always mysterious!!!

This is a very simple question to answer.

Whoever is able to sign a message using the first keys ever used in BTC is the real Satoshi.

Remember that transaction to Hal Finney? From Satoshi?

Get that pubkey.

Whoever is able to sign a message using the correct private key, verified by the pubkey, is the real one.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Only 1.6% (!!!) of USD Bitcoin trading volume is real. 98.4% dollar volume fake! on: May 23, 2019, 11:15:01 PM
The guy made a big "salad", trying something good, having some good ideas, but vastly incomplete. And incomplete means bad in this case.

He removed stablecoins. Great. But he should have counted all the fiat. USD is not the only fiat. There are big volumes on BRL, CNY, CRW, EUR and maybe others too.
Yes, stablecoins are a plague. Unfortunately we have to live with them. Sooner or later the fake (not backed for real) ones will go down.
The numbers look pretty bad. But making them even worse by missing out this and that won't help anybody.

To be fair he did say USD and not "all currencies". As I understood the intended comparison here is between USD and stablecoins, not overall fiat money.

USDT is named after USD after all!
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Only 1.6% (!!!) of USD Bitcoin trading volume is real. 98.4% dollar volume fake! on: May 23, 2019, 01:41:24 PM
Perhaps some of you might have seen this Reddit discussion about fake volume?

The data is extracted from CoinMarketCap. Simply by removing all "stablecoins" and adding up only U$ volumes, you arrive at 1.6% Bitcoin volume traded in actual cash. Everything else is stablecoins.

What do you think about this? Seems like obviously something's wrong here? Why are stablecoins even being called dollars? Makes no sense. This is a time bomb and gonna explode at some point.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telcoin ; a sleeping giant. on: May 23, 2019, 01:37:46 PM
Telcoin is only listed on small exchanges.

Also too low volume. U$ 140k in the past 24 hours and that's likely not even real volume.

I would be extra careful about this coin.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A message to CSW "So I kick his balls" -Satoshi Nakamoto on: May 22, 2019, 11:18:06 AM

OK so did any of the people claiming to be Satoshi ever SIGN A F'N MESSAGE USING HIS PRIVATE KEY?

The only thing "any of the dozens of Satoshis" need to do is sign a message using Satoshi's private key. The public key is found on one of his transactions (to Hal Finney?). Just extract the pubkey and verify he's the same Satoshi from 2009.

We've seen people use Satoshi's email and post updates on Satoshi's page.

But that only proves they can access his page. To prove it's him, suffice to sign a message.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we in a silent bull run?? on: May 20, 2019, 12:11:00 PM
It's not exactly a silent run. We've seen more buzz and news headlines about BTC as ever before!

I agree though, if folks believe BTC will reach $100k or more as some estimate, this is the time to buy.

Right now I'm holding most my investment in BAT but I do have a BTC reserve.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin lover on: May 20, 2019, 12:08:51 PM
I need advice on alternative currencies to purchase before btc rallies above 8000 usd.. anything among the top 100 coins on coinmarketcap will so just fine

I traded all my altcoins into BAT. I think it's going to explode once the Brave ads go global. Right now it's restricted to a few countries.

Do your own research though, this is not investment advice.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulation good or bad? on: May 18, 2019, 11:23:56 AM
Right now regulation is the biggest hope to get Bitcoin listed on top equity funds in NY.

If the trillion dollar financial industry begins using Bitcoin as a value reserve, it'll explode in value.

Gotta be regulated for that to happen. So I see it as a positive thing, as long as it's not limited in any way (remains decentralized and so forth).
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum will Boom ! on: May 18, 2019, 11:09:55 AM
There's been a lot of hype about ETH lately and I think it's a viral campaign to push it towards BTC price.

I bet you we'll see "flippening" threads soon.

Some whale is probably buying ETH and generating fuzz on social media to create this hype and pump it.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top coins to have in my portfolio? on: May 17, 2019, 01:43:22 PM
In the same line as your recommended article, here are top 5 cryptocurrencies used in entertainment.

Personally I'm buying as much BAT as I can. I think it'll explode when the ads go fully global later in 2019.

Disclaimer: This is not investment advice, do your own research and invest only what you can afford to lose.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The price of BTC has set a new high on: May 17, 2019, 01:41:35 PM
The price of mainstream currency starts to rise crazily. The TNB I mentioned yesterday also went up Grin Grin
I can not find out any match between the topic name and the OP really. where you find the new high of btc price dear?  Cry  you should describe more in your post about what did you want to tell.

This is completely crazy.

There was no ATH at all. There was, in fact, a major BTC correction overnight.

It's clinging to the U$ 7k support right now, but who knows for how long.

I think some folks post price speculations just for kicks.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Hits $270: $300 Next? on: May 16, 2019, 03:28:17 PM
Out of the top 10 coins, Ethereum is one of the VERY FEW, that actually do anything useful.

There are top 10 coins that don't even run decentralized, can't be mined and run on some guy's server!

Ethereum enabled the whole ICO ecosystem, good or bad, there are billions of U$ hinging from Ethereum.

What about the other top 10? Some of them have no reason to exist at all.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB time to buy ? on: May 15, 2019, 06:32:07 PM
I don't think BNB is a buy to be honest.

BNB is a centralized asset distributed by a brokerage firm.

It's everything a cryptocurrency is not supposed to be. It's like buying Disney tokens to play within Disney parks. It's centralized and its value is based on a centralized entity.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you selling your altcoins so soon? on: May 15, 2019, 05:10:44 PM
I think a lot of investors sold altcoins in the recent weeks to try and ride the BTC train. This accelerated the Bitcoin price increase even more.

But if you look at some major investor tweets from today, the time is perfect to jump onboard some altcoins that were forgotten during the recent bull run.

BAT for instance was left behind and it's probably the coolest project among the top 20 coins today.

I'm not selling any time soon!
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dump the alts on: May 14, 2019, 12:08:59 PM
OP's advice is sound but I think folks are mixing up 2 different things here.

If you want to store value and hold for the long term, Bitcoin is probably the way to go.

If you want to GROW then altcoins are the way to go. Bitcoin has valuation potential of 5X in several years.

Some alts like BAT are ready to explode 30x easily when their final product goes live.

As always measure your risk x reward.

Incredible as it may seem, Bitcoin today is the more stable crypto while alts are the wild rides.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: should hold or sold BNB ? on: May 14, 2019, 11:23:50 AM
BNB is a centralized coin emitted by a "banking" institution.

It's everything a cryptocurrency is not supposed to be.

You can invest in it like you would invest in any other asset but it definitely is not a decentralized cryptocurrency. It depends on a central institution and has a single point of failure.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will mining be profitable again? on: May 13, 2019, 01:24:34 PM
Check out the hashrate chart at https://www.blockchain.com/en/charts/hash-rate

Hashrate has a positive correlation with price. Soon as BTC shoots up, hashrate goes with it.

The only way to make money in mining is to have enough cash flow to hold the BTC until it gains dollar value.

Mining is not immediately profitable as soon as the coins are received, per market competition. So something like coinwarz calculator does not work for BTC really.

But if you got cash to keep the mining going and store the BTC, then the future dollar gains might make it profitable.
