41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 03, 2021, 05:24:01 PM
Here is the error message:

Also is anyone familiar with the private key? Maybe it can be imported into another wallet...it's 66 characters and starts with "ef". I think it is also encrypted but I have the password to decrypt it.
42  Bitcoin / Electrum / Importing old "master_private_key" on: January 03, 2021, 05:11:19 PM
I have some BTC in a very old Blockstack CLI wallet (before BTC fork). Anyone knows if I can import the private key in an older electrum wallet?

My private key looks like the following (I changed some characters of course):

"master_private_key": "ef242kfjj24ekf3223jesdkhefsfhk324wuefhw38fhrypofhtr34d342132d34jsd49",

"wallet_password": “kljsef9832nkfssf”

Yes I do and I got an error message...If you're able to download the wallet on your computer, I can then pay you to help me download it on my computer over Zoom, etc.

I have Mac and Parallels (Windows, and Ubuntu) so can download it to any OS.

FYI my private key starts with "ef" so not sure if that means anything? Maybe I can also extract it from an old Electrum wallet also...?

Here is the wallet version I need:

https://pypi.org/project/blockstack/0.18.0.10/

I have the private key but I'm not very technical and am not able to download it to my computer.

My private key looks like the following (I changed some characters of course):
"master_private_key": "ef242kfjj24ekf3223jesdkhefsfhk324wuefhw38fhrypofhtr34d342132d34jsd49",
"wallet_password": “kljsef9832nkfssf”

Here are GitHub instructions for a newer Blockstack version but I need to download the older one (0.18.0.10):

46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Safe to store Mnemonic Seed on Offline Phone? on: February 22, 2018, 04:43:04 PM
If you’re paranoid about your 24 word seed being compromised, would it be safe to put it on a pin protected iPhone/Android that you never take online?

Future thanks to all the replies!

48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Software Recommendations for Recovering a Deleted Password? on: August 22, 2017, 11:42:27 PM
I typed a password into a TextEdit document (for an encrypted wallet) and later accidentally put the document in the trash and then emptied the trash. Any software recommendations where I could recover the TextEdit .rtf file?

I'm running MacOS.
49  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Getting Scammed: Go to Police or Cut Losses and Move On? on: August 22, 2017, 07:18:21 PM
Curious, anyone know why the BTC is moving to a smaller and smaller amount on the blockchain? Does this mean it's being sold slowly for cash  Huh

Original address of the con artist is 1DY7qNGa9q4jBCxzDTbNni7NgwwWLz2Bww. I sent 3 transactions (totaling 16.48).

Just wondering, is Pepecash and Pepecoin the same coin?

No they are different. Pepecoin and Memetic are the same thing. You burn Pepecoin to get Kekdaq coins

BTW it's less about getting the money back and more about trying to make the world a better place (but I don't want to risk my freedoms at the same time).
53  Bitcoin / Legal / Getting Scammed: Go to Police or Cut Losses and Move On? on: August 05, 2017, 11:25:42 PM
Someone in Europe messaged me through the Abra App to buy BTC. He sent me a pic of the money with the date and my name in the picture as proof. After he reassured me we could make the transaction in a bank, I told him I could only go to Europe for a 50% fee. He agreed.
Since Abra is KYC compliant I assumed making a transaction over $10k would be OK.
Then when I arrived, he told me to meet with his "brother", as he knew more about BTC.
3 guys met me at my hotel lobby and dismissed the idea of taking all the money to the bank and said that the bank would create a lot of problems walking in with a lot of cash.
With a few bills they asked me to take randomly from the cash, I walked in a FX exchange with 1 guy (while the other 2 were waiting in their car with the rest of the cash) to verify the bills were indeed valid.
We then went back to my hotel lobby and I sent the BTC to his blockchain.info wallet address (he said he wanted to use his Blockchain wallet and not Abra and I figured I could just fill out the Form 8300 later instead) and then they gave me the bag of cash.
Later in my hotel room I discovered that the cash had been swapped out for fake money (perhaps in their car at the FX exchange). FYI I don't have a lot of street smart.

If I go to the police could I get AML charges on me? Especially since I haven't filled out the 8300 form yet. And I just found out here in Italy the legal transaction sizes without ID is very small (like 3k). Lastly all I have is phone numbers (which could be disposable) and possibly security cam footage from my hotel.

Thanks

54  Bitcoin / Legal / Selling Over $10k to Non US Citizen on: August 03, 2017, 06:55:40 PM
As an American, am I allowed to sell over $10k of BTC to a non US citizen (he has Swiss citizenship) for cash?

If so, do I have to collect any info from him? (of course I would much rather respect his privacy)
55  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How to safely decrypt a private key on a computer that has been online on: July 31, 2017, 09:09:12 PM
I erased and reformatted my Mac hard drive and then encrypted my Trezor backup private key with a 20+ alphanumeric password before connecting to the internet for the first time. Now my Trezor just broke and I need to decrypt this file...problem is now my MacBook has been online...
So how can I decrypt the file safely without having to erase and reformat my drive again Huh Embarrassed

Thank you  Smiley
56  Other / Off-topic / Re: MacOS affected if Windows partition infected with malware? on: July 29, 2017, 05:22:41 PM
Any way to know if a wallet is malware? Here is the wallet I want to download on my Mac's Windows 10 partition: https://github.com/pepeteam/pepecoin

BTW I can't access any files on my MacOS when I boot from my Windows 10 partition which is why I don't understand how the Windows malware would be able to access them Huh
57  Other / Off-topic / MacOS affected if Windows partition infected with malware? on: July 29, 2017, 08:28:49 AM
If malware disguised as a wallet is downloaded to a windows 10 partition on a Mac, is sensitive data (e.g. private keys) still safe on the MacOS?

In other words, is it possible (or even remotely likely) that malware can access data on a completely different partition???

Thanks in advance Smiley
