41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero's war against Bitmain & Big ASIC manufacturers on: March 26, 2018, 11:57:21 AM
I like it.  There are a few coins that launched as “ASIC resistant” but have been taken over by ASICs anyway.  Monero launched as ASIC resistant and intends to stay that way.  Props to them for sticking to their original idea.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYCs (Know your Client) is killing crypto on: March 25, 2018, 03:33:09 AM
This may very well be the case ...  not only with ICOs and bounty hunting ... but with the ever increasing government presence on the exchanges, requiring more and more personal data and tax reporting to the IRS (in America).

It may lead to a quicker rise in privacy focused coins.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin going to be forever pump and dump? on: March 25, 2018, 03:28:58 AM
I’m not sure the price action we see in bitcoin is the result of a pump and dump.  Pump and Dumps are normally done on small caps where a small amount of action can control the martlet.  Bitcoin trades in high volume, and has the largest market cap.  A pump and dumper could get way more action for their money elsewhere.

What we are seeing likely is just volitity, based on the way bitcoin has huge reactions to news stories.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Price < $3000 soon on: March 22, 2018, 12:49:55 PM
This post seems to be based on the same sort of charts we saw late last year when “bit coin is going to $50,000”.  Just extending the current trend to where ever.  Bitcoin seems to be priced based on news, so I put no value at all in predictions made by interpreting chart patterns.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / G-20 Cryptocurrency meeting on: March 20, 2018, 10:36:46 PM
I didn't realize there was a G-20 meeting on cryptocurrency, but according to CNBC, it was "very positive" for crypto.  Apparently, it was closed door meeting but reports were good.  From the article:

""The spirit of the discussion was very productive, and I agree that everybody left very pleased," governor of the Central Bank of Argentina, Federico Sturzenegger, said Tuesday during a press conference. "It was a very good meeting."

Cryptocurrency discussions happened during a closed-door session earlier Tuesday, a spokesperson from the G-20 told CNBC."

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeepOnion discord group is really good. on: March 20, 2018, 10:22:43 PM
For all the bad publicity Deep Onion gets on here, it's got a great community and decent development in the works ... If do all the things they say are going to do, it will be very solid privacy coin.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much have you lost during this bloodbath? on: March 19, 2018, 08:15:34 PM
It depend on how you define "lost".  I'm down 50% from my portfolio all time high at the end of 2017, but still up 4X from my original investment.  So, I haven't really lost anything, I'm just not up as much as I used to be.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of Forks [updated 3/11/2018] on: March 17, 2018, 12:44:36 AM
This one came up: Bitcoin@CBC (BCBC)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3109563.0

We will not be listing it on FindMyCoins.ninja because of its unfair nature, but you might want to add it to your "Not a true fork list". All addresses with a positive balance were reduced by 1 coin, we find that highly unfair as it makes a big difference if you had 2 coins, or if you had 100. You either lose 50%, or 1%. Aside from that, they also removed Satoshis' and other "zombie" addresses.

Thanks, I was just coming here to add that one.  I think you are right.  I'll list under the excluded section and note the reason.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BCBC]: Bitcoin@CBC Bitcoin hybrid FORK without Satoshi Nakamoto on: March 17, 2018, 12:40:13 AM
It says that each wallet with a balance has 1 coin subtracted from it?

Does that mean if you have less than one bitcoin then you get 0 BCBC?
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What does the new "index" option on ethplorer mean? on: March 14, 2018, 12:56:07 PM
It looks to be a tracking index for ERC20 tokens.  Like the S&P500 tracks 500 common stocks, this would track the activity and market cap of 465 ERC20 tokens.
51  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price Bitcoin in 10 years: $ 100 or $ 100.000 on: March 13, 2018, 11:37:14 PM
Unless there is some quantum computing blow up, or some other event to kill bitcoin, I'd say $100,000, due to it's growing popularity and decrease in mining rewards making for a higher demand and more scarcity.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 0xBitcoin: Mineable Bitcoin on the Ethereum network on: March 13, 2018, 11:06:38 PM
Mining tokens on the Ethereum blockchain is pretty interesting.  I remember reading from someone who posted about it a few weeks ago.  I don't know if 0xBitcoin has a future or not -- and to be honest, I doubt it, because none of these ERC tokens claiming to be "bitcoin" knock offs have panned out -- but I can see this being an interesting development, allowing ICOs to launch minable utility tokens.  It would be interesting to see an ICO launched with the understanding that "unsold tokens will be mineable", for example.
There is no difference between ico that applied POW after launched of the ico itself. It can be considered as another ERC20 compliant token too. What was the advantage of mine this coin in ethereum network? If we are seeing about Ebtc and then it can become an example of this coin will be the same as ebtc itself but it's just mineable.

Yeah, I had Ebtc in mind as an example of an ERC token that didn't have utility, and went nowhere.  The addition of mining isn't going to make a useless shit token any more attractive.

To me, the advantage of mining a utility token, particularly from an ICO that makes unsold tokens minaeble, could be that it allows for a wider distribution, promotes interest, and avoids the risk of the developer dumping the excess coins.   I think some promising ICO will eventually try it, so it will be interesting to see how it works out.
53  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think about stablecoins and price volatility? on: March 13, 2018, 10:55:48 PM
That is a nice break down of the stable coins.  They will likely be lousy "investments" ... I mean, they are designed to make increase or decrease in price ... but they may be attractive for a quick safe haven to throw your coins into in a sell off, or as the article mentioned, may actually become useful for everyday transactions.

Store owners will likely continue to avoid Bitcoin and other high volatility coins, but may accept something like the coins mentioned.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Weiss Rates Bitcoin and Other 73 cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin scores C+. on: March 13, 2018, 10:44:08 PM
It is somewhat interesting that the 3 "B" rated coins are platforms for launching smart contracts.  Seems like who ever is behind these ratings is putting a high value in being the payment system behind utility tokens, instead of being a utility token.

I think the high fence is a clue.  It looks like perhaps on the edge of wildlife preserve.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★★★★ Ethereum - BIGGEST SCAM in Crypto? ★★★★★ on: March 13, 2018, 06:39:03 PM
I actually like that the crypto world is filled with innovative people who develope and test their own ideas.  Yes, the ERC20 token are all tied to Ethereum and that makes them less decentralized, but it doesn’t seem to matter.  They are testing a different model, but that doesn’t make it a scam.  No one has to buy into it.  No one is promising you great returns ...  in fact, Buterin took heat recently for warning people that returns may be “Near Zero”.  That is pretty much the opposite of what scammers do.

Crypto would be boring if everything was a bitcoin clone.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did people get involved in bitconnect? on: March 12, 2018, 08:36:16 PM
For some it is just greed and stupidity, ignoring the multiple warning signs and the vast majority of people here advising people stay away.  But, believe it or not, there are people out there that try to get into the pyramid/ponzi schemes in the beginning, make some money, and cash out before the inevitable crash. These are the same people who promote it and try to get other people in so they can make more money.

I mean, I see people here asking "What's a good HYIP to get into?"  That's basically what BitConnect was.  They know it is a scam, but the scam usually pays for a couple of weeks or months ... I think it's nuts but people do it, someone is left holding the bag.

Really cool project.  I did some Geocaching with my kids years ago.  I look forward so seeing the upcoming clues and solution.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Realization - Why All ERC-20 Tokens Are Shit on: March 12, 2018, 01:06:10 PM
I have much of the same concerns, like with FunFair, there is an additional risk that when it comes to "fund" the casinos, the owners could tap and sell the billions of unsold tokens and not only cut us out of the profits, but flood the market and drive the price down further.  It is a huge risk, but if the done right, and honestly, it could have a huge return.

But at the end of the day, if you want equity and dividends, there are all sorts of tech company on the NYSE and NASDAQ that offer just that.  If Crypto were exactly like the stock market, I wouldn't be here.  I'd be on eTrade right now.
