41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: October 16, 2017, 01:03:13 PM
NEM/XEM on the rise was almost 10% down on 4 weeks ago then boom up 20% in the last couple of hours - any news?

Just your standard pump and dump. I thought there was some big news also when i saw the spike but it seems not.

There was probably mistake from traders side. XLM (Stellar Lumens) is pumped incredibly (for now 168%) and XLM looks similar to XEM (for those with eyes problems and lack of knowledge) so i think some dumbasses make a mess here. Or that was fake pump to dump @XEM, made of course by the whale, thats the second possibility. Thats the reason why i look now on Daily closed candles @XEMUSD and XEMBTC. I'am not intressted with intraday fluctuations like this to trade and make a losses. For me personally daily closed candle much above 27cents with significant volume, will be the real indicator of trend change in XEM price moves. For now (XEMUSD) we have sideways moves (with spikes up and down), and downtrend @XEMBTC pair, also with spikes (sometimes caused by price/indicators divergences @1h and 4h charts).

The jump in XEM price this morning past 25cents ran parallel to a million+ USD (5 mil XEM) spike in trading volume over a 30 min span. I still have enough faith in my fellow world citizen's intelligence to believe a million USD would not be placed in XEM due to simple typo or misinformation.  Given the amount purchased, geographic concentration and brevity of the spike I would attribute it perhaps to purchase of Supernode requirement, maybe a NEM-friendly Japan based entity spending some of their recent MonaCoin profits.  Or maybe just some good, honest crypto insider trading going on, but surely this wasn't a million dollar misclick.

Looks like a coordinated P&D based on how quickly it spiked and fell down a bit.
I'm glad to see some movement and volume though, even if it will not sustain long term.

Thats awesome news!  Smiley
Nem was very popular in China and in some of the Asian Countries! In the light of recent development in China as regard crypto currency, what is going to be the short, medium and long term impact on Nem!

Seems China will just be regulating crypto markets, anyway BTC had the highest impact in China, but the price has been recovering as the rest of the world learns we dont need china! Smiley

BTW...

NEM is very strong in the likes of Japan and Malaysia, which are both crypto friendly...

I don't know why that is so often repeated here, there is next to zero volume in Japan or Malay.. There's more here in the states and even that is pathetically low.

Zaif is not included in calculation at CMC

it's not included in what's shown on the front page of cmc, but you can still see the total volume in nem/jpy and nem/btc, and the /jpy pair is usually barely above a million, /btc is even worse.

Interview with Lon Wong, president and founder of NEM Foundation

Probably everyone knows about the NEM blockchain solution platform. But always behind every project there are those responsible who put their best to advance day by day. One of those people behind the NEM ecosystem is Lon Wong, president of the NEM Foundation, who kindly gave us an interview that we will share at this time:

Highlights for me from the interview are - Any failure in one off-chain smart contract does not expose the system to a systemic failure and it can be stopped, corrected and re-run without having to fork or rollback the blockchain, which may have other applications that may not be part of the problem application.

Is there any big company interested in NEM today?
Yes, there are companies working on NEM, many of which are still in the development stage and under NDA.

What are NEM’s plans for next year?

NEM’s plan next year is basically out to market. We have assembled a team are undertaking a huge marketing effort for the next year. We just held a global strategy summit recently to identify our goals for the near future.

Regarding XEM’s market prices, what could we expect in the future?

We will expect the price of XEM to climb up significantly as we roll out our projects. Or growth was intentionally designed to be organic and steady.

Interesting.. hope some developments come sooner rather than later. The lack of volume is troubling to me and I think we need a good shot in the pants to keep from "falling off the radar" as it were..

volume down to a paltry $3 million... I get the feeling that the rug is going to be pulled out from under us at some point. It simply can't continue this low long term, anywhere from $3 to $10 million daily volume is absolutely pathetic. That shows that there isn't much interest in the coin.. so what is holding the price up?

On the flip side, it could mean that the coin is severely undervalued/unappreciated and when it does come through with some big announcement or development then it could catch fire. hard to tell. This stagnation and low volume has got me seriously considering cashing out and moving into something else..

Well, we've done it. Finally crossed the $3 BILLION dollar barrier in marketcap! and also reclaimed the #6 position!!
Hopefully this is just the beginning Smiley
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / would you keep all your altcoins or convert to btc for long term holding? on: August 29, 2017, 02:32:01 PM
Lets say you have a significant amount of money in a top 10 altcoin (north of 500k) and you are interested in long term profit/holding.
Which do you think would be the better and most profitable alternative? wait for that altcoin to "hit", or convert it all to btc and hope that the price jumps up to 10k or more in a few years?
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 29, 2017, 02:08:50 PM
i think this coin is really cheap it must hit at least 0.001 BTC
very nice project but price is really cheap. Maybe people not like POI ?

Yes Indeed, good for us. Lets be honest here: Most people in the cryptoscene are Averga-Joe or the guys who want to make quick buck. No investigation and deep research on tech. Instead getting blinded by shiny websites and buzz-words.

Be different: Do your research and invest in solid projects.

Also the NEM community seems for me to be the most literate regarding blockchain. Many Technology-Mind people, developers.

It's actually amazing that NEM has claimed the market share that it has with close to zero marketing and being largely ignored by the youtube bloggers, crypto news websites and everything else. I like many others am dying for some big news or huge announcement and for NEM to take that large flying leap into the stratosphere like Ether and Ripple and a few others. I don't think our big jump has come yet, which is why I wait patiently.. even though it sucks. I think they're really trying to hook some large corporation or consortium into using nem tech and then we'll see the price rocket upwards.. just like ripple did when they announced their big corporate partnership. Just have to be patient..

Also getting added to some more exchanges wouldn't hurt.. would definitely increase volume. Kraken being the big one.

not much going on in nemland in the way of news or announcements.. I really hope they have some huge partnership in the works or something to stoke up interest and give this coin the shot in the pants it needs to really take off.. August is halfway over and still no word on catapult. I don't think that in itself will be a big shot pricewise, maybe it will maybe not, but personally I don't think it's likely to get people all excited and bring a bunch of money into nem..
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / how do you guys find out release dates for new coins? on: August 10, 2017, 05:03:36 PM
the announcements section in the altcoin forum is a mess, it's hard to make heads or tails of anything because there's sooo many announcements.
Where do you guys get your altcoin release dates from? is there a central place that tracks that kind of stuff and what exchange they're listed on?

It's really tough to track what's from 2014 and what's from 2017 just using coinmarketcap.

So what are your new coin resources?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / What exchanges do you all use for newly released coins? (not the well known ones on: August 10, 2017, 04:54:04 PM
Sorry if this has been posted before, but searching for the word "exchange" brings up a million results.
I have accounts with the big exchanges, polo, bittrex, kraken, etc. however I would like to sign up for some ones that are not so big, so I can trade in new coins that are released, but not big enough to be listed on the major exchanges like polo, bittrex, etc.

Can you guys list some trusted smaller exchanges that you use for newly released coin purchases?
thanks!
