I love this word Smiley

And it is a word that can be strongly associated with bitcoin this past 8 years, how many times has the price now doubled since 2009?

Well I just need it do it it 6 more times and I become a bitcoin millionaire

Well who knows
42  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Drops Below $5,000, So sad! on: September 03, 2017, 07:43:19 AM
Best thing that can happen right now is bitcoin looking settled and stable in the $4000's for a length of time, if it does that I will be expecting it too test new highs in 2018
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it too late to join 2017 rally ? on: September 01, 2017, 06:09:40 PM
The 2017 rally has really opened my eyes up to cryptocurrencies and the awesomeness it brings. I'm eagerly looking to get into the market, but with the huge price appreciations, I'm worried I'm to late and will get badly penalized if/when the market dips. What is your point of view, should I get in now or wait ?

I have also done my research and I am in it for the long term, so basically the idea of holding out for a good time to buy is basically just asking for a good start, if you are not careful you may never get that good start,
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many 30% plus falls have there been in the last 5 years? on: September 01, 2017, 07:06:36 AM
I was there in early January 2017 when it dropped around 30%. Now it's something else when you're daytrading crypto. But if you are holding the coin long-term this isn't really an issue. I think the €4000 psychological barrier is a good entry point. It will give you a point of reference for the future and once the price breaks through you're already in profit. In the future you won't be interested in how much you paid for your bitcoins, only how many of them you got!

Too be honest I am not going to be as frightened with a 30% fall as maybe I would be with other investments, though like I said it is becoming less likely by the month, but still very possible
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the biggest threats to Bitcoin prices in next 12 months on: September 01, 2017, 06:55:45 AM
High fees. These always turn some people out of Bitcoin.

Do you mean when you initially buy them?, I feel the same way
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many 30% plus falls have there been in the last 5 years? on: September 01, 2017, 06:43:25 AM
Thanks Guys, I knew about a few of them back in the early days and where as many of you have pointed out it always returned stronger. I am quite pleased as the big falls happened a while back now and there was not as many as I thought, and for a while I have had the feeling that bitcoin no longer has the volitilty it once had and when there is a fall it is not as severe.

I am sitting on another  handful of cash now and waiting over the next few days to jump in, in all honesty it will probably be today as I am in for the long term, just nice to get a good start with an investment, but Hey ho!, I am in for the long term.
I am now going past 15% with my bitcoin as my rule of thumb is normally no more than 15% with my fun risky investments and bitcoin is now looking less risky by the month., but still a risk I might add.
47  Economy / Speculation / How many 30% plus falls have there been in the last 5 years? on: August 31, 2017, 11:01:55 PM
Having a busy night tonight doing a little Bitcoin research. Smiley

Looks like tomorrow I am going to take a slightly bigger risk than I normally do with high risk investments and up my bitcoin stake.
Just wanting to know how many 30% plus  falls has there been in the last 5 years, if anyone can help?

And more importantly when?

I subscribe  to another financial site concerning house prices and the economy, a few of them have got cold feel over bitcoin, not me I might add Smiley

51  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Mods have a best of reccomended posts? on: August 31, 2017, 11:47:41 AM
Why don't you create your own list if you think this is pertinent instead of relying on others to assemble one? Why wouldn't a list from staff also be biased?

I would just value what the organisers value and trust as good information rather than my own judgement in part, just an opinion. And there is so much do go through after a day at work.
52  Other / Meta / Can the Mods have a best of reccomended posts? on: August 31, 2017, 11:26:57 AM
I am loving this website on a subject that I now find very interesting. One problem I am having is sifting through the over biased posts who will never see the problems with bitcoin as they have now invested in it, like me I might add, but I want to hear the good, bad and ugly, and obviously not keen on the silly childish posts.

Can I  make a suggestion to the Mods who seem to be quite firm on this website and so they should be. But I would very much like to see them create a best of board on threads/posts they think should be read, yes I do trust their judgement.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: September 2017 coming... Thoughts? on: August 28, 2017, 11:29:25 PM
I think it's better to buy anyway, as Bitcoin will rise

I am going to buy anyway, but if I can get more for my Bucks, great.

I just get the feeling right now there are  a lot of people are now starting to sit up and take notice, I can see it chasing $6000 by the end of the year if people don't start profit taking.

I live in the south cambs area and there is a lot of money flying around there. I can just see a lot of these people being advised by their investment brokers just as "a little bit of fun" and as a good outside bet to stick 1 Bitcoin into their investment portfolio, and trust me that is peanuts for a lot of people in the UK today. And at the end of the day there is only 16 million Bitcoins up for grabs, not many of them if every Tom, Dick and Harry wants one in their little collection.
54  Economy / Speculation / September 2017 coming... Thoughts? on: August 28, 2017, 11:07:36 PM
I get the impression that bitcoin is becoming more resilient the older it gets. It has fought off a handful of crashes with the MSM then writting it off everytime to then see it come back stronger. Bitcoin has had a hell of a year in 2017 and seen highs I never imagined would happen. Right now I am sat here with my new funds for a 2nd sizable batch of bitcoin to add to my wallet.

It has been weeks now and not all that much has been happening, I was expecting a bit of a fall in price after so much of a gain. I cannot help thinking that there are quite a few people right now thinking the same, many are wanting to jump in. Looks like I am not going to get my fall, which is OK, but looks like I might have to buy in again when prices rise say 5% to 8% in the next few weeks.

I have told myself that whatever gains I make in the next year I will match it with money I have elsewhere to the point of Bitcoin being 20% of my investments, no more. Rule of thumb for me past decade has been risky investments no more that 15%, and that's high for me.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just got my first bitcoins a few months ago, how lucky, and it was luck for me. on: August 28, 2017, 03:15:42 PM
Honestly you might just be better off reading stuff online, just make sure you use reputable sources that is probably the biggest problem in this space. Try to find semi unbiased people, which is really hard ill admit.

The one thing that already strikes me with this forum is the size of interest in Bitcoin, that is interesting in itself. I think right now so many people are hung up about the rapid gains from only a few years ago that they cannot see the full potential that is left.

Bitcoin has the potential to be revolutionary and at the very least could could put the fear of god into evil central banks, and that's good enough for me.

56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At what price point per BTC will it be too late for the average person on: August 28, 2017, 02:55:25 PM
Hello everyone,

I feel very late to the party with BTC. I have know of it for a couple of years but ignored it. Now I'm super sold and ready to buy my first coin. $4k is huge but not impossible for me. At what price do you feel its too late to own 1 full BTC for the average person?

I'm not interested in owning micro or milli coins.

How much time do we have left until its becomes proper main strain?

Can someone tell me where we are on this chart please?

No idea how much research you have done, but I suggest you look into how big this could possibly go, 2017 could well be seen as the early lucky days for those getting in when the 2020's arrive, but of course they could tank as well  Smiley

What I am finding strange and at the same comforting about the bitcoin is that so many brainy people and  business types are now starting to speak highly of bitcoin while the mainstream are still scared to death of it. I now find it amazing that so many people will have have 5 or 6 figure sums in banks with no worries and yet they still question bitcoin, the most honest fiat currency of the lot IMO.

It is very possible that you are far from being too late, just look at this forum for example and the size of it's membership, there is a lot of interest out there. I am never going to tell anyone of here how much bitcoin I have except that it is one or above, and if I am correct there is only 16 million of them out there, just think about the numbers and possibilities , research research and research and then take a calculated risk if you are happy without going All in
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What opinion from people out there or people in your city about bitcoin? on: August 28, 2017, 01:06:08 PM
i am really curious about what opinion from people out there when they know from january 2017 until august 2017, bitcoin price start rising to almost $44xx if i am not wrong (maybe the highest price i know). because i see in my city, people don't care about this and they don't interesting but once i read on local newspaper, there are article that giving info about bitcoin price which is increase so high.

but in the last two days ago, i meet new person. he asked me what my activity when i am online. i tell him that i work as writer, trader, and i made money from bitcoin. first he don't believe when i say bitcoin price in the year 2015 (which i knew bitcoin for first time) is $2xx-$300 but suddenly this year, the price is jump too high and now we see the price is some around in $4xxx.

i give suggestion to him to invest his money in bitcoin but don't buy the whole bitcoin but do it like $100 for every month for 6 month and only hold it without learning anything about bitcoin, just save it. i think he is interesting but he said he need to learn to make sure about this. well actually i don't take too serious about this, if he really wants to do it, then he is a lucky guy that i've meet but if its not, then he got his choice.

so, what is happen in your places related with bitcoin? did people still don't care about bitcoin? and how about if you meet someone new and then you make conversation and you telling him that you are trying to make money from bitcoin? what he's respond?

This is a great question..

prior to buying my bitcoin I asked as many people as I could about what they knew about it. The vast majority have heard nothing about it and a small minority have heard a little and of those who have heard of it and without any logical reasoned argument "just don't like or trust it" based on nothing, I used to be one of those people I might add  Smiley

So on the basis of that one bit of research I have invested in bitcoin, the mainstream will jumo in if this starts to go £10,000 upwards and when people find out the good this currency can do. Also there are so many anti banking people out there, I am sure they would buy just to bring the banks down Smiley

Hi Jace

Thanks for the welcome and the links, will check them out this afternoon. I have already made a decent profit by the way, just wished I had got in 2 years ago rather than 2 months, I am wanting to hold bitcoins going into the 2020's
I did say where I got my bitcoins after a good write up in the FT, but it has been removed, I don't want to put the name up again in case I get into trouble, but I would like to hear peoples opinions on them.
You just wasted up the opportunity on buying cheaper coins 2 years ago but well we cant do anything about it but we should moved on and as you said above its never been late on buying bitcoins and as you speak you did bought your 1st bitcoin on past 2 months im sure you are really on profits now since the price had rose on this month alone. If you do plan to HODL then it would be a nice choice and by the way , welcome to this forum mate.

To be honest Hamphser, I am not going to beat myself up on the timing, most people were like me and thought it was a fad, the clever ones who got in years ago deserve their just rewards.
But where I think we could still be lucky is that the bitcoin just has not reached that maninstream acceptance yet, 2017 could still be looked back upon in the 2020's as a magical time when we purchased.

I am so lucky as well, I have already built up a buffer for my bitcoin punt by pure chance, I always find the early days of an investment can be a back step. Bitcoin has already had a few 50% crashes befor bouncing back and I am already covered for near that, so that now takes the pressure off. But I have sneaking suspicion that after a little bit more research I am going to get more.

I just wanted to make the excuse as a new member to say hello, but I do have a few tame questions  Smiley and share a few thoughts.
I like to spread my investments like many do, the vast majority are safe, well as safe as you can be these days. But I do have a pot of usually anywhere between 7% to 15% of more high risk investments and usually by far my most fun investments. That is probably a bad attitude to have when it comes to investing, but we live once, unless that is you are buddhist.

I was cynical and fearful of Bitcoin a few years ago, mostly the fear came from not understanding.  But this year I read up a little along with a good mate pointing out to me "Do you really understand how banks work these days", and though I do a little, I really don't undertstand fully what they get up to, as most people don't.  I am still a little fearful but there is so much I like about Bitcoin and the possibilities for it's future, it really could go all the way, and it is so much more honest than fiat currencies. Bitcoin is now my riskier investment and alreadt providing me with a little fun.

I purchased my first lot of bitcoin a few months ago, wow what a start. Even though I am in for the long term it lifted me to see how well it was doing straight away. What I would like to know from some of you is what do you think of [Suspicious link removed] who I use, no complaints yet, but just want others opinions and are the better places to buy britcoins, and I will be buying more.

And is there any good literature any of you would recommend, read loads of stuff online, but sure there is a lot more. And I have noticed that some great minds love Bitcoin from what I can see, but  the mainstream are just terrified of it still. And that's probably my main reason for choosing bitcoin, if those people can be won over by what could be a great idea that could change the world, this could be big, but I do know how these thngs work, even great ideas can end up in the bin.
