Off topic:
Hate to be a Debbie downer but looks like the beginning of the end for non asics miners. Somebody powered up some serious hardware today...

In again for another 268chips

PCB and components: $35 + Assembly: $60 = $95.  How do we pay for this? USD direct to assembler or play the BTC to USD game and hope for an 'up value BTC' day?

If steamboat is willing to convert BTC to USD that would be great, BUT I question the amount of 'lube' that will be needed when the IRS takes him in the 'back room'.  Anyone have ideas on how to do this 'smoothly' ?

Question:  If I mine BTC and earn a reward for shares at say ~.000xBTC or less, then how does that get transferred to my wallet without a network fee? My current pool saves my reward up to 1BTC then sends it to my address thus avoiding the fee. (currently @ 1.5GHs)

First off, forgive me if this should be a PM or moved to another thread.

Nice write up BkkCoins. (i wont quote it because its large).  My question is how do you return the data from the ASICs? This might be the big 'unknown' until we have specs, but it seems to me passing that data back through the PIC would not be feasible. Can the data dump be passed directly to the USB controller?  (I have about 15 other scenarios but would zzZZzz this thread so I will save them)

Also, I am in for some serious bulk PCB funding (cash in the Ks USD or BTC), but I would need to see a working prototype (even if its on a test board) before committing.

I'll recommend your PCB partners to track this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=157937.msg2072767#msg2072767
Needbmw has worked PCB maket (as i understand, avalon chips extracted from batch1 avalon miner).
Are you saying he removed the ASICs from a batch #1 miner and built up his own PCB assembly and tested it with them?

That's quite forward thinking of him

Not sure this is correct.  If you play this video (tear down of a BFL miner):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciwfCqP8AiU

and stop at ~ 8.01, you can clearly see that the board matches from the thread posted above and that the chips solder mask (some missing chips in this model) is not QFN (QFN is used by avalon  ... these chips appear to be BGA, although I'm not a chip expert).

What does this mean? I have a few thoughts but they are pure speculation, so I will save them for now.

I am in for 100~200 chips.  However, before I commit I would like to clarify any additional import fees to have the chips shipped to the US.  Currently I am leaning toward building my own device(s), but that will depend greatly on the specs released from Avalon.

Hello community, I am the CEO of a small computer business ‘Hossiken Computer Systems LLC’ (small as in I’m the CEO and the janitor).  I currently work full time as software developer.  I also have experience with pic (and others) microcontrollers. I have been mining for over 3 years now.  I am dyeing to get my hands on the new Avalon asic chips.  I am posting here in hopes of quickly being able to contact ‘zefir’ regarding the recent batch chip purchases.   Thanks in advance.

Thanks for allowing me access to 'zefir'.  Is it possible to gain access to this thread?: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=189582.20
Thanks again.
