amd overdrive is a pretty lackluster overclocking program pales in comparasion to msi afterburner can ony overclock/underclock as well as manufacture intends. If all miners are on linux why isnt there more programs for miner made to work on linux?

What are you looking for?
Some Overclocking software comparable to msi afterburner. And Something similar to phoenix rising.

Why is there such a lack of ubuntu software? I think whoever can create some gui software for linux for overclocking, mining , or monitoring would make a good amount in donations. *Hint Hint* I have seen some pretty cool software literally made from scratch shouldn't it be easier in Ubuntu environment?
45  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone tried 6 cards on GD70? on: June 13, 2011, 05:34:38 PM
No - a 1200 watt PSU is NOT enough for 6 * 5850s.

And yes, I am running 6 cards on a 890fxa-gd70 right now... and 5 on a 790fx-gd70
Well i ran almost 6 5870 with no problems for a little under a week it might have been using close to 100% utilization but it worked(close to stock speeds). What psu(s) are you running?
46  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone tried 6 cards on GD70? on: June 13, 2011, 04:41:48 PM
It worked with 5x5870 and 1 5850 and a 1200w psu ubuntu of course

Sweet!
Wonder if the cost/performance is worth it.
If you use 2 psu's then maybe otherwise probably not the cost of psu's rise exponentially as wattage increases.
47  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phoenix Rising: Front End GUI to Phoenix Miner on: June 13, 2011, 04:37:56 PM
I want the option to switch back to the back up MANUALLY also.
Today slush pool was in attack & miner can't able to connect. I already gave deepbit as backup. It doesn't even switch to deepbit, instead keep on restarting in slush server only. Since there is no manual way to switch to back up, i just ran guiminer by giving all the deepbit data for my 3 miners & mining in deepbit so far fine. for the past 3-4 hours.
PR badly needs manual override. Just waiting it to automatically to back up doesn't seems to work when the pools are in Ddos attack.coz the pool responds ping & so the miner believes, it doesn't have to switch to back up.
Manually switching to back up is needed.
You can add a single check box, which will allow all miners to mine in backup miner only. This is the easiest way when pools are in attack.

I agree at least as a temporary solution i think both an idle worker and manual override button are needed. But the most needed feature of all is donation address or link.

i dint read all the post so whats the point of having the molex connector ?
Its for cards that have dual gpu's like 5970 or 6990 that require alot of power from PCI-e slots and its safer to have a molex connector to help power it.

I don't have a screensaver on

3x12 Mhash/s
Good enough to eat and look like it has room for a fourth card.

On my setup using phoenix rising one card is constantly at 98-99 but the other fluctuates alot more temps are low 80's and 410mhs for the first core and 404 for the second core. Would also like to know how to disable crossfire?

Just throw the blank screen screensaver and you should be fine.
I don't have a screensaver on and one of the gpu's says it's running in crossfire in gpu-z.

Nice little gadget but I find its too small.
you can adjust the size just change the percentage

Had this same problem. I nicely solved it using Diablo Miner ( http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=1721.0 ). Give it a try.
You solved the crossfire issue by using Diablo Miner? So it stays at 100% for both gpus all the time? mine ranges from 82-100% but mostly around 99
59  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Not able to get 5 x 5870 on MSI 890FXA on: June 10, 2011, 09:20:22 AM
I had a problem getting ubuntu to boot with more than 2 cards than I was getting errors in red fail brackets then I formatted and created my start up install disk on a ubuntu live cd and it worked. I scraped ubuntu and just went with 4 per mobo just because the psu needed was too much and linux is not worth the marginal gain. I could boot 5x5870 on a 1200w but the 6th got iffy and tried a 5970 and it wouldn't even boot up.

its a mozilla ad on that you download and look for the user scrip by dacoinminister called "pimped mining" and it adds more hidden functionality to the site
