do you have a viable business model besides yet another digital currency?
42  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the common cause of poverty? on: October 24, 2017, 01:49:11 AM
Some of the major causes of poverty are: government, dependency, and the lack of or the lack of realizing opportunities.

Some of he wealthiest nations on earth are dirt poor.  Through automation of the lack of trade they cannot meaningfully sell their surpluses, or create new jobs.  In many cases foreign food aid harms some of the most basic local jobs which are the farming jobs.  that is the developed nations are dumping surplus goods onto poor nations to cripple their economy and their ambitions.

if you look at basic raw materials, many of them are cheap whether it is food or say iron ore.  Many large companies will move to poorer countries and train people to make goods.  It may be a step above say farming, particularly for city folks, but the individuals themselves are not selling what they produce-but are only providing their labor at fair market rates.  There may be secondary businesses that forms such as restaurants, etc, but the economy will remain poor until the laws of supply and demand increase wages.  In many cases they will be paid in a currency that makes savings and new ventures near impossible, especially if their are no access to affordable exchanges.  But out of their poverty with minimal dependency they will tend to be more resourceful.

And then there are the post industrial nations like the united states.  Manufacturing, or collecting resources are scarce.  It is service based heavily into marketing and research that exists mostly on cycling its own currency that draws artificial value from the demand forced upon it from taxes or trade agreements.  From existing wealth it and policies, it is the land of opportunities...for now.  Opportunities keep birthing new opportunities to some extent.  In a savings based economy, it has a trickle down effect.  In a Keynesian based economy that demands rapid cycling of currency, then again the poor can't really afford to save and new ventures difficult to start up so the poor tend to remain poor.

Americans are truly dependent on companies and the government for survival, and ultimately it is the companies that create opportunities that the government steals and creates further dependency.  The working class has fewer kids, and the moochers have more kids.  And these economies will collapse as a function of time as they violate the laws of nature and adopt socialism, and people will have to revert back to a survival state when the bubble burst.  If something were to happen to the US dollar or robots simply displaced most US workers, Americans, aside from farmers and hunters/fishers, virtually have no survival skills.  Most would not many have any technical or inventive skills, except for those already in STEM or a particular trade.  America will likely crumble apart one day far worse than Venezuela, and those who do know STEM or a trade, will likely leave America long before then. There will be few meaningful opportunities left in the USA, and the population will be full of lazy snowflakes whose only skills after college graduation is yelling racism, misogyny, and various phobias.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Authorship (ATS) token is a scam on: October 19, 2017, 04:38:21 PM
i received my ats tokens; had to manually add them to myetherwallet.  you can check the activity in your wallet through: https://ethplorer.io/ and searching your public address.  There are some eth addresses that may not support tokens.

Whether or not they are a scam is not my call.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: legality of trading erc-20 tokens on: October 18, 2017, 09:13:03 PM
Yeah freedom is in short supply these days in the land of the free. There are parts of the United States that would make North Korea look like paradise.

I don't think this is a question a generic lawyers could answer, without racking up dozens of hours of $400/hour research and having to sell a kidney on the Iranian market. I don't think avvo would likely produce an answer because it may be too technical for most attorneys.   But it is Better to resolve those questions in advance, as most Public pretenders wouldn't take the time to do any research-and in the no bond police state, you have a right to a government attorney or a law library-not both.   Certainly there must be some attorneys who have cryptoexperience who might know right off the bat without having to do research.  I don't think filing a pro-se 1983 seeking declaratory relief would produce favorable results given the intent to sell, not to mention it would cost a lot of time and money for so little reward.  couldn't find anything on justia for ERC-20 [tokens].  No one wants to be the test case.

But, uh, a simple researchable answer that I could investigate further should be sufficient.  In the meantime, I will try to explore justia further.

LoL
hahahaha ....
why you need to get legal advice? You stolen something or so?
You got some coins for free in airdrop and this is the reason to consult lawyer?
Jesus! Seems freedom (including mind freedom) is in shortage, nowadays.

p.s.
You should contact your lawyer @ $400 per hour, before you applied for free airdrop  Grin
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / legality of trading erc-20 tokens on: October 18, 2017, 06:38:02 PM
I was given a bunch of ERC-20 tokens in air drops, and they seem to be trading for a lot of money but not enough to consult a lawyer.

The exchange rate currently is doing well, but I do not see that they have any definite business plan.  If I were to sell some of them with the assumption that they will be worth nothing, even if their exchange value is presently higher and people buy them through their own volition on an exchange without any influence from myself, would I be committing an act of fraud?  Or would it be like liquidating enron or worldcom after the news became public that the s*** hit the fan.

careful it seems the mods are deleting our comments to participate in the air drop.   From the OP, it reads , "To get in on the airdrop, reply to this thread, and then sign up here:". They deleted my comment of "greetings" which was to get into the air drop.  The mods saying, "A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.".

Can somebody explain the rational behind choosing airdrop distribution method? Why the creator(s) of a revolutionary product chooses this method of distributions? Huh Huh Huh

It puts the coins into the hands of many people. This helps create awareness of the coin, and increases the chance that some will invest more heavily into it.

Some people refer to Metcalfe's law (network effect) in relation to this, so you might look it up for more info.

The first airdrop I received was about $10 in flash tokens for using some app on a blue stacks android emulator.  I started to accumulate eth-20 tokens, and I really won't touch anything that requires a download anymore.  I didn't see them priced anywhere for well over a month, and I accumulated about 5 different tokens.  About a week ago, someone showed me that one of them was on an index. Great, 40 cents total out of 2500 tokens.  When I added it to an online portfolio, I learned that it wasn't 40 cents, but something like .40 ETH-and substantially more a week earlier.  Someone recommended etherdelta here last night, and I saw the price of other free tokens i accumulated.  Another one I got for free has been trading 1m for 1.7ETH; they gave out 5m to each user.

i can understand why the coins were given out for free, but I can't for the life of me understand why why some of them are trading for so much.  As nice as it is, it makes me feel a bit uneasy.  Can anyone explain why these eth-20 tokens have any value, and why anyone would pay for them?  Or any reason to hold onto them?  I mean, it's not like you are going to go into wal-mart anytime soon and pay with eth-20 tokens.....Unless someday wal-mart makes their own eth-20 tokens.

I been quietly accumulating these eth-20 tokens which are just sitting in my wallet, and other stuff, how do we go about trading them?

You can trade all of 'em on etherdelta
Thanks

So anyone care to tell me how serialized mass produced pieces of art on clothe, paper, or plastic is ever supposed to be worth anything.  Seems strange for the elitist to poopoo crypto, while at the same time betting on traditional currencies that can be readily [and illegally] copied.

54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 07, 2017, 03:24:33 AM
it is a good idea to diversify your assets.  By that i don't mean putting 100% of your funds into the top 30 cryptos.  But put some in stock, some in crypto, some in commodities, and land if you can, maybe foreign currencies/bonds. While bitcoin has performed very wel,l which may be the reason for your all in idea, it doesn't mean that will always be the case. diversifying means you reduce the risk.  Sure if bitcoin continues to grow like crazy then, diversifying limits your potential gains and you'll feel like kicking yourself in the butt for not buying more.  Bit if something catastrophic happened to bitcoin, your other holdings would limit your exposure to a whole world of pain.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinstarter.com (scam?) on: October 07, 2017, 02:24:58 AM
A fool and his money are soon parted.  Investing dollars into unknown crypto seems a bit foolish.  But investing in dollars seem foolish also-but i know which one is more liquid and in more demand, and which one uncle Sam wants to be paid in.

If it is a legitimate company, those half coins a day keeps some users logged into it which could be construed as the cost of advertizing. Which for now is free.  but it comes at the expense of dilution. investors have quite a bit to gripe about if it dilutes too much.  if they ever do something, great.  If not, well it only hurts the investors.
