41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: November 09, 2017, 03:51:03 PM
Ethereum is one of the best coins you can hold. There are thousands of projects that are being launched daily and most of them user Ethereum. Ethereum is offering a well accepted standard which is called ERC20, as long as projects create coins based on that standard they can basically be Ethereum "compatible". So in other words Ethereum managed to create an ecosystem which is very difficult to not join, because if you don't use that standard then it won't be interoperable with other coins/wallets etc. That's a very savvy move, but you can expect only savvy things from Vitalik, who is very skillful and knows what he is doing. The man is just a genious, and I am happy to follow and learn from what he thinks and has to say. He's very young as well which means Ethereum will live long with a great leader who has a great vision. It's by no means an altcoin that you should stay away from!
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Separate myetherwallets for trading and airdrops on: November 09, 2017, 03:08:14 PM
Not a bad idea, I would recommend to keep each coin in a seperate wallet to start with, not all airdrops coins into one wallet, but each wallet for a different coin. That make things kinda complicated to manage from your part, but it's the best solution if you want to be completely safe, as you know, it's enough if one time something bad happens, for you to learn your lessons. We've seen these kind of situations happening from many other people, falling victims to scammy tactics, so it's a good idea to learn from their mistakes and implement best practices when storing cryptos. Use a different address for every coin and make sure to keep the stored "cold" (offline) by using either a usb that is not connected to your computer or using an already available options such as Trezor.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My first three days in day trading. on: November 09, 2017, 12:52:17 PM
Don't want to burst your bubble, but the last days have been bullish overal (the markets has been going up). Anyone made money during these days/weeks and you getting to 0.3 BTC is nothing extraordinary. If you managed to make the same money in a bear market, I would salute you, but the fact that you made that gain during a bull market doesn't mean much. My personal advice would be to put about 2 to 4% of your portfolio on each trading position. That way you'll have much more chances to mess up, and eventually if your strategy does prove to be good, you will make in the long term more money than you will lose. Don't want to discourage you as already mentioned, but I'm curious how you will perform when the entire market see's a bloody day.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do some ICOs not allow American investors? on: November 09, 2017, 11:04:51 AM
The regulation in each country is different, American is specifically tough towards investing because it's the largest economy and everything basically starts from there. They have had a lot of experience in the finance sector and know what "rules" have to be put into place to make things sustainable. The way things work right now are not very structured at the moment, but the market is gaining traction and in a couple of years, this might become a real issue (if markets are not regulated). I think it's good that America doesn't allow all it's citizens to invest into ICO's because many of them are frauds to start with. There are so many projects right now that won't make it far, and many investors will end up with their pockets empty. China might start banning even more people and exchanges from participating in ICO's so they might not be the only one's (Americans) to be excluded from the party.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you invest in ICOs? on: November 08, 2017, 04:06:49 PM
the potential of ICO's is just huge. Just think about it. First we had the public companies, that most of the population can't invest in (their PRESALEs are usually conducted by insiders, big banks, who profit the most when launching an IPO) and even after the presale, the way to invest into public companies is to give all your documentation and idendity cards in order to buy a couple of shares, you're getting taxed and the broker fees are ripping you off. Now with ICO's anyone has the chance to join the fun and it's much easier to invest in what you believe in and potentially increase your investment, because the market is yet small and low capitalized, which means little money flowing in can fluctuate your portfolio to a couple thousand percent.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Risk and the worst thing be a Bounty Hunter ? on: November 07, 2017, 03:52:50 PM
You have to be carefull when selecting a project, try to find for something that is reputable and that doesn't look like a "quick buck", if the project has been in development for years or months that's already a good indicator that the project is working towards something big. If the project popped out of nowhere within a couple of weeks, it's likely it's a scam. I didn't had the chance to participate in a project and not getting paid, but I can imagine how much that would such. Just try to find for good projects and choose quality over quantity (payout). That's the best way to ensure you'll get paid for what you're doing.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you buying altcoins on: November 07, 2017, 03:14:08 PM
I'm already buying up a lot of ETH. I expect ETH will finally have another boom after the BTC fork. It has really lacked in appreciation the last months and it's evident that it's due to people choosing BTC over alts, just look at the market cap statistics of the entire sector. BTC wen't from a 30-40% marke share in the last months to over 60%! That's crazy! Everyone is getting into bitcoin because it gets the most puplicity, but when people will understand the blockchain, and understand that it's not only about the transfer of value, then we'll see the respective projects popping and gaining traction. It might take a while but it's definetely worth the wait if you ask me.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the best altcoin to hold for long term and why? on: November 02, 2017, 03:32:34 PM
There are many alternatives, and no one will be able to give you the absolute correct answer, because no one can see in the future. The best approach is to be diversified, what that means is that you should own a lot of different coins, that will decrease your exposure of holding just a single asset, which price can fluctuate by a lot - it will, in other words, reduce your volatility by simply holding more coins as gains and losses are coming to an equilibrium (more or less). Some specific long term investments that I like are Ethereum, NEO and XRP, they have quite high market capitalizations as well which makes them relatively less volatile than other assets, but in general there isn't much you can do wrong by owning the ten highest capitalized cryptocurrencies. Most of the losses and gains will balance each other out, so make sure you choose as many as possible. And don't invest in ICO's if you have money that you really need (you should't be investing in that case to start with).
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to get fast rich in crypto world? on: October 27, 2017, 02:46:35 PM
there is no way in this world to get "fast rich". It's all requires some form of dedication and sticking to what you believe in. The guys who bought Bitcoin back in 2009-10-11-12, were not motivated by profit, they were motivated by the technology itself. No one was expecting that BTC would make them millionaires or even billionaires, it just happened because what they believed in came to be true. The best way to approach each situation is by carefully researching and stuying what might be worth in the future, try value investing instead of pump schemes. Even if you do make a profit pumping a coin, that might work a couple of times, but it only takes one time to get busted real back and you'll be back at the begin. Research projects and read their whitepapers, ask the community and founders questions and keep up with the technological advancements, these are the only genuine and real ways to become rich in the crypto world.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which wallet easy to use? on: October 27, 2017, 10:23:22 AM
Hello and welcome to the crypto world! There are many options (wallets) out there right now and the first thing you have to understand about wallets is the following: You will need two types of wallets.

1. The first type of walle should be a so called "cold" wallet, what a "cold" wallet is, is basically an offline way to store your coins without having to store them in any way electronically or online. The chance of getting your funds stolen that way is greatly reduced (by hackers or a technical outage of your system). In this wallet, you want to keep most of your coins, about 80 to 90%.

2. The second time of wallet you need is a "hot" wallet. Hot wallets are useful sending transactions from there is usually easier and faster, they are connected to the network and they usually operate via your computer or phone. The problem with that is that there is a higher chance you might get hacked, which is the reason why you'll only keep about 20 to 10% of your entire funds in them.

A very good, and user friendly wallet is Exodus, they offer by far the most advanced settings and user friendly environment, check them out!
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POS question on: October 27, 2017, 08:42:54 AM
PoS works in a different way. By stacking or locking up a portion of your holding, you are simply "eligible" to get rewarded once in a while (depending on your stack size). So basically, if you have a lot of Ether stacked in relation to other users, you will be most likely to be "chosen" as a validator and therefore receive a reward. That's quite similar if you come to think about it, as getting paid dividents from a corportaion, because the same thing is happening, you're holding stock (which you can't liquidate, just like Ether) and by holding these stocks you are elligible for a quarter divident payout, which will depend on the number of shares you have. It's really nice to see these two worlds (blockchain and traditional finance) merge and take ideas from one another (traditional companies implementing blockchain, and blockchain implementing traditional finance "techniques"). Make sure therefore to stack up as much Ether as you can, the more you'll have the more you'll be rewarded once PoS goes live.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Any Price predictions for Bitcoin Gold? on: October 26, 2017, 01:12:54 PM
The main feature of Bitcoin Gold is that it won't require ASCI modules anymore to be mined, instead it uses CPU. That's great because many don't need to invest in expensive hardware anymore and makes it easier for the general public to mine the coin. As with Bitcoin Cash, we should expect a similar scenario where BTC is swining up and down until the markets are stabilized. Everyone thought that Bitcoin Cash will die, but it didn't and it's very valuable at the moment. The problem is that we have yet another fork coming, SegWit2, in which people will start realizing that this fork game makes absolutely no sense. There will be many forks out there in the future and that will affect their perception (from positive to negative). We'll most likely see capital flowing back to Bitcoin. If you want to profit from Bitcoin Gold, you might be able to do so in the short term, but I'd be careful in the long term, as personally, I believe the currency has no future.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin 6050$ on: October 26, 2017, 10:11:52 AM
as you've probably noticed from the market, BTC did rise but it retracted back to 5.6k again. That's always the case, or at least most of the times, the market believes that the price will rise when it actually goes the other way. Which is way it's so dangerous to trade in the crypto market, volatility is insane and you can easily get rekt if you trade on margin, with leverage. Until Segwig2 we'll be seing a similar mentality from the markets, everyone is trying to profit short term but most will end up losing a lot of money. When we'll have about ten or twenty BTC forks, then people will realize that all these "other versions" are just in reality a copy of the original, and when people realize this, they'll value the original even more as non of them will be able to dethrone it. Ordinary users just can't keep up with all the forks, and they don't want to.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: October 26, 2017, 08:51:23 AM
I wouldn't be suprised if Zcash does indeed reach to 0.2 BTC. Just look at what the project has achieved in such a short time. They have developed a technology (zsnarks) which is by far more superior than any other "privacy" token out there, the agnostic verifications has been praised by so many and the project isn't even all into marketing, the price is driven by real value. If you don't believe me ask Vitalik Butterin, who himself said that zsnarks is revolutionary and he tries at the moment to implement the technology into ethereum it make it more private itself. Or ask JP Morgan, one of the ten biggest banks in the world, who themselves have implemented zsnarks in their Quarum (or whatever the name is) blockchain technology. It's clearly a game changer and competitors like Monero or other privacy centered coins have to at least innovate to the same level to even keep up with what's about to come to Zcash. To privacy and beyond!
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone here living full time on cryptocurrencies? Can you give guidance? on: October 25, 2017, 12:35:18 PM
> What is the minimum investment a newbie needs?

There is no "minimum", it's not like stock brokers where you need a minimum of e.g. ten thousand dollars to open a broker account. That's one of the beautiful things about cryptocurrencies, anyone can get involved as much as you can, you can invest one dollar or one billion, it's up to you.

> How do you select an investment?

Researching and reading whitepapers, search on Google for ICO's - you'll find a list with upcoming projects. Make sure to check each of them and see if the idea appeals to you, if it does, dig deeper into it and read the whitepaper / ask questions to the community and founds about the project.

> Do you HODL or day-trade?

Hodl for your life.

> If you day-trade - how do you pick a coin that is day-trade worthy?

I don't day trade.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Total number of ethereum on: October 25, 2017, 10:13:11 AM
Circulating supply is 95,292,838 ETH according to coinmarketcap.com
I read somewhere that they are producing 18 million ETH per year.
So, when is this going to end and how many ETH in total will we have?
Now that we have this byz fork, do you expect ETH prices to rise soon and why?

you can sort the cryptocurrencies on coinmarketcap by "total supply". The page you are looking when you visit the site is only circulating supply, total supply is the below

https://coinmarketcap.com/coins/views/market-cap-by-total-supply/

You'll see there that ETH is set to 95 million, the founder, Vitalik has already announced that there will be no additional coins created after PoS (proof of stake) has been implemented. What that means is that instead of "creating" new coins after each block is mined (which part was given to the one's who mined the block), user will be able to earn a passive income just by holding ETH in their wallet, which means that mining and the necessary costs of electricity won't be necessary anymore. I think ETH price will rise as the hard fork has been succesful and no major bugs were found, it implemented some cool features, such as zsnakrs will will help the price in the short and long term as well.
57  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tricky Question, Sell BTC and buy Altcoin? on: October 23, 2017, 11:35:53 AM
just to remind you that BTC has forked before, and many said back then (BTC Cash) that the coin wouldn't survive, it's sitting at the moment on about six billion US dollars and it doing just fine. It initially reduced the price of BTC but it later stabilized as it's usually the case with crypto coins in general. Buying altcoins even before the fork would be a good idea imo, since everyone will run after them, you'll be already invested and get the early gains from all the players "escaping" BTC. If something big (bad) would happen to BTC the closest thing to profit from it would be Litecoin, it's the most likely competitor and a good hedge against the king of crypto's. Make sure to have a stack in ETH as well, as it's the "main" altcoin and everything is being build around it nowadays (it's having soon a fork itself, which will settle in a couple of months after it has been thoroughly tested). It will add some privacy features which will definitely give an important boost to ETH.
58  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC--->USD day trading possible? on: October 23, 2017, 09:51:52 AM
I will mention two things about your post:

1. If you want to use Coinbase do it only when purchasing FIAT currencies (don't convert from Crypto to FIAT when you're trying to trade, because as you've mentioned the fees are ridiculous on those platforms). So have coinbase only as a way to finance your wallet. What you want to use in an exchange like Bittfinex, Bitrex, Gdax etc. these exchanges are "specifically" designed for trading and the fees are much lower than what you would expect on Coinbase for example.

2. You've mentioned that you're hoping to make 150 dollars by purchasing/selling 1 BTC.. one BTC is currently valued at around 5.5k which makes your 150$ target only a 2.5% profit.. which is really low because the commission fees for trading are about 0.25% which means for a buy/sell order you'll be lieft with a 2% profit. That's really low and not worth "investing" one BTC to get that amount back. What you want to do is buy BTC and keep it! Until it appreciates a lot, not only 150 dollars (that's a waste of time/money/energy). Better to keep your order only on the buy side (try not to sell unless you really have to/need the cash).
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Hold more Bitcoin or Buy Altcoin in the red zone on: October 20, 2017, 10:15:55 AM
it's not the best idea to base your decision on what some random guys tell you over the internet (like me). I think it's good that you're asking this questions, but please use whatever you read here only as advice and do your own thinking/take your own decision on what you should eventually do. In my opinion, alts are having a bad time right now which is a great buy opportunity, yes BTC will fork but if everyone is running towards BTC, it's a good idea if you go the other direction (when buying anything always try to look where no one is looking, you have the highest chances of ridiculous returns that way). Having said that my recommendation would be to buy some ETH, as the fork is almost complete and the price is still relatively the same as it was before the fork (I think there is an uptick potential), but that's up to you to decide of course.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Thoughts about my crypto protfolio? on: October 20, 2017, 08:58:13 AM
ETH should definitely be in there as well, or at least NEO. Your portfolio needs some sort of exposure to smart contracts, and ETH is by far the most advanced and adopted technology in that sector. The rest of the stacks look pretty neat. I like the one BTC there, a straight one. If you don't want to buy ETH buy at least NEO or NEM, these tokens are not only coins but entire ecosystems which other companies build around, yes BTC is great and DASH and all of these coins, but they essentially share only one charactarestic (the transfer of value), with ETH in your portfolio you'll be ready when mass adoption of dapps will take place and you'll be handsomely rewarded in due time.
