I respectfully disagree with the quote above, a BTC exchange MUST have both the option to buy BTC with fiat AND to sell BTC for fiat. If on one side there is an in-balance/delay, then it is not a proper exchange, and in the "real" financial world this would mean they would be out of business in not more than 3 days. And this is what I believe is going to happen with Mt.Gox (but I don't mean in 3 days). But I really hope I am wrong and this is not going to happen, but I am already OUT of Mt. Gox, impossible to do serious work with Mt.Gox as a partner.

But I do agree with the other part of the post of the same author, about cancelling Mt.Gox fiat withdrawals, buying BTC, holding them in an offline wallet or transferring them to another exchange for fiat withdrawal.

I think that this is Bitstamp self (trading engine) providing minimum liquidity for almost every 0.01 step (or they have hired an independent marketmaker to provide that minimum liquidity for every step)

Voor geinteresseerden, naast leuke gesprekken over Bitcoin / Bitcoin projecten, is er ook iemand aanwezig voor BTC<->cash trades, zowel kopen als verkopen.

Heel erg leuk dat je ook komt

Laatste meetup in Antwerpen was een gigantisch   succes met een meer dan verdubbeling in de opkomst vergeleken met de vorige maand !!!!  (van 3 naar 7 aanwezigen). Zoals iemand anders al schreef in een ander topic, dit begint op een nieuwe Bitcoin bubble te lijken

The SEPA transfers that I did with Bitstamp were processed and deposited in my account within 48 hours.

I also thought so like Spaceman_Spiff, but until now, in the last 3 weeks (since Mt.Gox really stopped functioning as a real exchange) I have experienced no increase in withdrawal processing with Bitstamp. My withdrawal requests are processed within 24 hours (except for a withdrawal request made on friday, which was processed on monday, which is normal, because of the weekend).

And until now at Bitstamp, when you see the status change from "Waiting to be processed" to "Processing" it is just a couple of minutes to a status change to "Finished".

And when it says "Finished" then it's (unlike Mt.Gox) just a matter of the processing time of the 2 banks, which is for my international transfers usually from 2 to 4 business days.

Last meetup in Antwerp was a huge success with attendance up more than 100% over the previous month (from 3 to 7 attendees).

Bitstamp, then you will have your fiat currency in just a couple of days. In the last 3 months I had no problems / delays with Bitstamp.

I did it that way, I prefer to pay Mt. Gox buy fee, and Bitstamp sell fee, and the loss due to price difference at Mt.Gox and Bitstamp and then get my fiat currency in a couple of days, instead of waiting for weeks at Mt.Gox

And now I switched all my volume to Bitstamp and use Bitstamp as reference price for trades (instead of Mt.Gox), so I am not going back to Mt. Gox anytime soon.

What good is a higher/lower price if you can't cash out?

yes, from 3 people showing up last month to 6 people showing up this month, this definitely smells like a bubble, I guess we are at the top now, from here the only way is DOWN !!!

De meetup in Antwerpen was een zeer groot succes. De opkomst in vergelijking met vorige maand was verdubbeld !!! Dat is 100% groei in een maand !!!
