41  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: June 09, 2014, 11:09:22 PM
BTW, Spondoolies looks to be creating a monster of a machine, the Yukon.

I'd like to hear if there's any official word on interest in their miners.

If you are able to get in the 1st batch you may have a chance of making some profit.  But 6Th  with September batch 2 delivery @ $5000 will never make back what you need to spend in BTC to purchase one now.

Unless you are able to buy in bulk and get a significant discount.  If You are betting that BTC price will increase, you would be better off just converting cash to BTC and holding it. ;-)

It really nice comments

Holy necro bump batman.
43  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100k volume on Bitstamp? on: May 03, 2014, 06:14:46 PM
This is the real Bitstamp BTC / USD trade volume for the last 5 days:

4/29/2014  - 13,844.64 BTC
4/30/2014  - 10,757.36 BTC
5/01/2014  - 9,556.038 BTC
5/02/2014  - 8,269.891 BTC
5/03/2014  - 3,119.877 BTC (so far).

Yeah, a data glitch on RTBTC graphs I suspect.  I looked today and the 100k volume is gone.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100k volume on Bitstamp? on: May 02, 2014, 06:21:18 PM
LOL OK, this is the volume i'm talking about.. Really not smoking or shooting anyhrting!  ;-)

So, did the FBI dump those coins it had?  I just happened to look on stamp today and seen 100k of volume  this morning.   LOL

48  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has mining ever been profitable "at current rates"? on: April 10, 2014, 11:49:21 PM
this, has there ever been a time in the last 5 years where mining was profitable at current rates?
Yes, it was, for the early CPU and GPU birds (early adopters).
The party was over, when the first FPGAs appeared.

Wait so even when btc was basically nothing, the early birds were "profitable" assuming they could sell it?

Yes, partly because you could mine 50 coins solo with spare cycles on a laptop. ;-)

49  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has mining ever been profitable "at current rates"? on: April 10, 2014, 02:07:51 PM

Oddly enough what is happening to Bitcoin is what's going to happen to the universe in a heat death scenario. In a few billion years when we're huddled around the last of the black holes for energy we will be getting about 500 watts per km tops. Not enough to make a good bowl of popcorn; how are we going to keep the blockchain going?

Hahah very good made me spit coffee out me nose. Grin

Would comparing to how much bitcoin compared to buying an ASIC a good way of gauging ROI?

For example,
one antminer .893 btc
or just buying .893 outright?
From my miners way of thinking, ROI ( Return on Investment) I keep everything in terms of BTC,  so, making .893 BTC on an investment of .893 would be a loss when you consider the costs of electricity and your time spent running and maintaining your miners. ( Lots of hidden costs.  Internet , cabling, Power, support computers, cooling etc....)

If your paradigm is dollars based( Or Rubles, Yen, Pounds, Euros... ) then you may make a return if  you consider the conversion to BTC and back again if the converted value has increased from what was originally invested, minus conversion fees.

If you are a gambler and want to bet on BTC increasing in value compared to your government currency,  in my opinion buying BTC with currency and Hodling is the better bet at this point.  This wasn't always the case.  Early adopters in the mining efforts came out the clear winners compared to those just starting mining now.  To make a decent mining ROI now, you need to have deep pockets and be able to purchase ASIC miners at cost or at the very least a deep discount from retail prices.

Cheers!

When antminers turn off, difficulty lowers, wouldn't that vest time to mine is when everyone else is turning off there's?

Nope, wishful thinking.  Thats the same thing people said when ASIC's were introduced. "When the GPUS' are turned off the difficulty will flatten out."  That never happened.  Just look at the hashrate historical record.
When antminers are turned off, faster and more powerful miners will be turned on. That is probably a more accurate statement.  ;-)

52  Economy / Speculation / Re: WHY does everyone has to be so psychotic? Why do you PANIC sell? on: March 31, 2014, 06:22:10 PM
So if everyone just kept holding, the price wouldn't go down, right? Why can't everyone cooperate on this. What am I missing here?

Some Miners have to sell occasionally to pay for goods and services that don't accept bitcoin in order to run the operations.

54  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: March 22, 2014, 01:15:49 PM
Does anyone knows how to use Cube solo mining with mining_proxy?

You are a gambler!  Do you play the lottery too?  ;-)  One OC'd cube solo mining will take about 15 years to solo mine a block on average.  Good Luck!  ;-)

But if you are interested, you can set up a bitcoin as a server on a local computer, and point your Cube proxy to it ( or, bypass the proxy and connect with getwork, depends on how you set up server).
There are lots of guides and tutorials on how to set up a solo miners, such as these --->>  Solo Mining setup

Cliff Notes version :
Code:
Bitcoin-qt.exe -rpcuser=userid -rpcpassword=password -server

Point your Cube to your computers address running bitcoin daemon.  Example:(192.168.1.11:8332) with the userid and password you selected in the bitcoin-qt command line.

BTW, I have a bunch of Ant Miner USB's solo mining for giggles.  I am a gambler too.  ;-)

56  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: March 17, 2014, 07:31:11 PM
so i have 4 cubes, everything runs fine until after about an hour one of the cubes just randomly stops mining, but once i cycle the power it starts again and is good for about another hour, all 4 cubes have identical settings and they all have plenty of power. any ideas?

It could be EMF interference.  Build a tinfoil cage or metal mesh like screening, ( see faraday cage) around the cube(s) leaving plenty of space for airflow and wrap a couple turns of your lan cable around ferrite core.

Also, its been reported that android phones using your local WiFi network can cause cubes to lock.  A couple of of my Cubes had the same problem.  Sometime they would run for days, or a few hours when they would just stop and the red status light would stop blinking.   Found out that a local Amatur radio operator transmissions would cause these two to lock up when he was transmitting.

Cheers!

But seriously what a cluster this whole thing has turned out to be.  Weeks upon weeks of silence, followed by bombshells, followed by immediate silence on questions about the bombshell, and then repeat, until all of the bondholders have ulcers.

Yeah, should of kept my BTC.   a 5.5BTC  paid on 50BTC  of bonds.  Looks like a losing deal now with this bombshell.   Something is wrong with this picture.

Why the 80% drop in Divs this week?  Another payout issue?  What happened to all the new hardware we paid for?

Going to Decrypt my Wife's Private Keys multiple times to Generate a New Address

Hopefully BTC reaches 5k this year so that when the new addresses are generated they will already have a decent amount deposited into them.

Wow, that's about 1/4 what I anticipated when I ordered the S1 a week ago.

Mining is a tough ass business!

What hardware are you using, if you dont mind me asking?

Pretty much everything but Butterfly Labs and Cointerra.
