43  Economy / Securities / Re: CoinLenders vs PMBs - 100 BTC wager. Double your bitcoins if PMBs outperform CL! on: June 06, 2013, 10:03:11 AM

Up to as in, it depends on your amount and how long. For example, 150+BTC and 60 days is 27.25% APR.

You do not suffer any losses from defaults. You will get 1.06123x after 60 days with 150+BTC, period. In addition, more than half of our loans issued BTC wise are now fully secured.
How long has coinlenders been in bussines?

45  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloudhasing or ASICminer? on: June 05, 2013, 10:38:44 PM
Should i buy contracts in Cloudhashing or shares of ASICminer?  It seems to me ASICminer would be the best choice as it already has a track record over producing BTC dividends. Are there other alternatives available as far as buying into BTC mining?

Just to make an odservation here that ASICminer shares represent a portion of the profits of ASICminer for all their activities it is not a mining contract

So with lets say with a 1GHz contract (mining) with cloudhashing you would get whatever a 1Ghz rig can produce (dont know if they will deliver or not thats another matter)
so it is affected by the mining difficulty  and you will have decreasing returns as the difficulty  rises.

With ASICminer shares you dont care about the difficulty but how well the company does if they go well you get more if they go bad you get less...

It is a bit frustrating to have to be held back for these reasons so far, as they are opinions, not fundamental flaws in my offering, nor based on any real concern for its viability, transparency, or reputation of the issuer.

Im with TAT on this one, as long as there is trust on the issuer to do exactly as he says in his contract then this being a good investment or not is irrelevant
48  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] TAT.VIRTUALMINE - IPO at 12PM EST - Early Bidding is Open on: June 04, 2013, 04:56:12 PM

Lets say that 700 BTC - fees will buy about 290 ASICMINER shares.
290 ASICMINER will pay you about what, 72 BTC in divs per week?

errm didnt ASICMINER PT pay 0.02653753 per share this week so lets say 290 * 0.02653753 = 7.7 BTC per week?
or am i missing something?

Since you seem to be really committed to it, let's have a 100 BTC wager - this vs Coinlenders over 3 months. Escrowed with John. Let me know and we can make a new thread.
You are coinlenders arent you?

An argument against this bond and all other like it is basicly an argument against mining it self.
a GPU for example pays decreasing "dividents" over time and has diminising resale value
as the idea with mining is to sell your hardware at a price at a point that will allow you to make a profit
it is exactly the same here

..will the dividents be enough or the price decrease little enough to make a profit in the end?
Thats up for everyone to deside by himself
I dont see this as a sure win or a sure loss and propably will be both win and loss for some ppl...
51  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] TAT.VIRTUALMINE - IPO at 12PM EST - Early Bidding is Open on: June 03, 2013, 10:43:05 PM
Wouldn't the fundamental value of these shares be inversely proportional to difficulty?

That means that they are designed to slowly dwindle in value until they are worthless. doesn't it?

i don't see how you could possibly get an ROI in the long term. could be good for a short stint though if you get out at the right time.

in theory they will get worthless when mining doesnt produce more bitcoins sometimes in the future (2040?)
so id say it is possible you will get your money back and profit just by dividents but if that is a profitable idea is another matter...

53  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many are planning on switching to alt coin mining? on: June 03, 2013, 02:19:25 PM
Is there a point to switching to a new coin system?
I realize the difficulty will become crazy once ASIC machines are common
Presumably though doesn't that mean people will build even better ASIC machines

I only ask because people outside of bitcoin still question the legitimacy of it, it's hard enough to push one digital currency let alone several if people ever want this to become mainstream
Also could of these ASIC machines and such be adapted to work on the new systems? at that point the hardware development (the hard part) is done and it's just down the software that runs on them

or am I missing something completely?

The current asics (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) cant mine litecoins cause the algorithm is different so litecoins can become an alternative to GPU mining...

Once bitcoin difficulty becomes too high some (most) of the miners with GPUs will look at the other coins while looking for an Asic miner at the same time for bitcoin...
if there is profit to be made in other coins ppl will mine for them and my view is that the existance of coins besides bitcoin is essential.

I pity the person who sold 1000 TAT.VM shares at 0.0007 instead of 0.007 by mistake on bf .That's what created an interesting V in the chart.

hehe yeah i shaw and was like whaaaat?

So.. i did some number crunching...
a Block Erupter Blade ASICMINER   10   costs ฿ 50 and delivers 10,000 Mh/s
now lets say you use those 50 btc and buy bonds you get 50/0.007 = 7142 shares or 7,4142 Mh/s

hmm interesting...

Check your math, you've got an extra 4 in there Wink

This asset was intentionally priced to be more expensive than a Block Erupter.

yep indeed its 7142 mh/s Tongue

I'm pretty new to the mining side of bitcoin, but using this calculator online http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ it appears that 200 shares will earn a profit of $1.01 USD/day.  Am I reading this/entering the info correctly?

Yep you are right, but the catch is the increasing difficulty.. For example when the dificulty raises in the next few days to aproximetly 14495071 (just an estimation) you will get more like 0.862 USD/day
59  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How hot do your GPU's run? on: June 02, 2013, 06:29:08 PM
Have a friend his GPUS run at 90C ..then again one of them blew up too...
anything over 80 is a iffy idea...
60  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Future of Bitcoin mining ? on: June 02, 2013, 03:24:34 PM
Not sure how well ASICs designed for bitcoin would perform mining other coins.

My understanding is that current asics can't mine scrypt based coins like litecoin
but propably can mine SHA-256 based coins just the same...

What i ment though is if GPU minners leave bitcoin cause of asics and go to lets say to litecoin they will drive the dificulty there up too...
