41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - stablecoin.net on: December 06, 2013, 05:02:53 PM
Hey artos, what do you think of this comment? It was just posted to the StableCoin subreddit and I find myself kind of agreeing, because I was trying to think of nicknames for it the other day.

Quote

It seems a lot of people like the coin but the branding seems off. Developers aren't marketers, understandably, however when we look at successful names and brands they normally have a common theme of two syllable names or shorter (exception Microsoft). Example: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Facebook, Walmart, Costco, Samsung. You get the point...
I get what they are trying to do with the name, but to me it just doesn't roll off the tongue. This could ultimately be a downfall of stablecoin. It's awkward saying "here let me pay for that with my stablecoin", opposed to, here I have some bitcoin for you.
I wish the dev hired a marketer, emulated bitcoins logo by putting the money lines through the "s" changed the name. Sigh. That's my vent, thanks for listening.
I do not think it will matter in the long term.

Updated the site with more resources. http://stablecoin.net

The marketing effort is nice, but I do hope that development of the mixing service is still the first priority. This is the main thing that differentiates the coin from the others, and until it's actually implemented, the coin seems pretty generic. I imagine a lot of potential buyers are waiting on this to happen before making a move.
Both are being worked on simultaneously. There's a bit of an arms race of sort going on in the altcoin space right now. Market share is equally important, so we're being extremely aggressive on that front. The growth we've experienced in just over a week has been astounding. As we expand even more, we hope to draw the interest of talented individuals who want to join the project.

Some positions are still open. Looking for translators right now.

Thank you for removing the premine from StableCoin, xorxor. However, we're still listed as having 0 starting difficulty, as if it were a bad thing. StableCoin used an aggressive reward scaling system to ensure early miner were not able to get a ton of coins. You can independently verify this here, refer to the minted currency and total supply graphs: http://cryptometer.org/stablecoin_90_day_charts.html

As for this whole debate going on right now... Superblocks worth 10,000 coins at minimum difficulty are in no way fair. Trying to pass them off as such is incredibly disingenuous. If you want to see what fair coin distribution looks like, please look at the graphs of StableCoin. Smiley

Here's the final logo.

Just a clean, updated version of the original. Should please everybody. Smiley

I'll come up with some more versions tomorrow... I will probably settle for something that closely resembles the original. I'm not fully happy with the current version yet. It's missing something...

On another note, we just started the Chinese giveaway thread. 10x reward for posting about SBC on another forum. Should be interesting to see where the traffic comes from. Smiley

At this point, we're locked into something that at least resembles the original. The coin's been out for months.

Thoughts?

Why is the S split into 2 U's anyway? Does it signify anything?
Look at the colors. The top portion is a C, and the entire thing is an S. Hence, StableCoin.

Glad that there is such interest over what the logo should be. As we begin to ramp up marketing efforts, it would be better to change the logo sooner rather than later. While I do have a soft spot for the old logo, it is lacking in many ways.

What about a logo that is identical in structure and proportions to the original, but styled in the way of the new one?

Let me know what you think

Trying to settle on a new logo before tomorrow. Some big things are about to happen. Smiley

PS: I liked more the old logo, more professional I think  Tongue
It had a lot of jagged edges. I'm not a graphics designer. Embarrassed

Looks like #2 is the winner. Rolling out the new logo now.

56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [POLL][SBC] New Logo for StableCoin on: December 05, 2013, 01:18:30 AM

Thanks to Patrσn (brandsumo.com) we now have some shiny new logos for StableCoin. Unfortunately, only one of them can be used, so please let me know which one you like better. Smiley

There's been a lot of fake accounts in this thread, so I've been skipping over some people who have a low activity rating. If you feel like you've been unfairly left out, send me a message.

The 150 is almost gone, but there's still a few left to give out.

You imply that those of us with low activity rating are fake accounts.  It's not my credibility at stake here, pal -- it's yours.  You said post here and get a coin.  I posted and instead of sending a coin, you insult me for being new.  If you didn't intend to send a coin to the first 150 posts, then you should have stated so upfront. I won't bother sending you a message, since it's not a question of fairness but one of credibility.
A good 80% of them are. There are bots that register on this forum and post in every giveaway thread. I do not have time to manually do a background check on every user, so some people like yourself get ignored.

Like I said, send me a PM and you'll get your coin. Don't take it so personal.

Hazard is correct. Mixing systems require a trusted entity to function. There is no possible way for a client to figure out receiving addresses, while still having them remain anonymous. The protocol we are developing aims to move some of the functions of a mixing system onto the block chain. This addresses several concerns that face mixing services, a few of which were outlined in the original post. The protocol will be in the public domain, of course. People will be able to set up their own mixing services. So it is incorrect to say that it is centralized and that I control it. The protocol can be adapted for many different types of applications. For example, it can easily be adapted for use in anonymous P2P messaging/broadcasting system. We're currently investigating all these different uses for it.

Onward to other matters - the support we've been receiving from the Chinese community has been astounding. You might be surprised to learn that the Chinese section of these forums is actually one of the biggest areas for bitcoin related discussion. The Chinese cryptocurrency community is very fragmented. A lot of discussion about bitcoin/altcoins takes place in rather obscure places and over chat programs. In light of this, we have many individuals spreading the word about StableCoin throughout these areas - an approach no other coin has even bothered to try, because they are so out of touch with the Chinese community. The results speak for themselves. We will be applying this same approach as we expand into other areas as well.

Thank you all for the support and kind words.

Hi.

so how exactly was the premine destroyed. if blockexplorer can see them, they are not rmoved from the code. it would be impossible in my mind, because of all the blockchain is hashed using this tx'es . the where also not sent to impossible address like "sTHEPREMINEDESTROYERADDRESS4Ph48Nk2". if I understand ,they are not destroyed, but locked-down right?

Destroyed was chosen because it's a dramatic and exciting word. To be more accurate, the coins were removed from circulation. They can not be spent.
