This one has lost the hype and momentum it had at the time of ICO.

being dumped right now.

Lost more than 50% on this. Can't even sell to get even, only other option is now to hold the bag........

That’s not true, another good option is to sell and buy back lower.

Why don’t you try option B?

umm.... You still lose money that way. If you sell it now and wait for them to go even lower to buy it back and hope they grow back up again, then in this case, one is better off holding onto what he has to gain the additional airdrop coins and avoid exchange fees.

Yes, it would make sense if you were to sell these off completely and move off to new coin.

44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children. on: November 19, 2017, 07:19:07 AM
No doubt a great idea from your side for ones children.Actually it will make any one tension free from the future of the children and whatever kind of money the children want in the future one can give it to them in the shape of BTC.
I've put a couple away for our first born recently, for me its a fairly safe investment with huge growth potential!

I agree to this idea because this will very helpful to our childen especially their financial support to the school needed.

I think you are getting it all wrong, OP is not telling us that saving bitcoin is good for your sons and daughters and for whoever it is. The question is, how will you keep your coins so that it will still be usable in the future and that it will be safe?

Anyway, If we are talking big amount, and you want it to be safe from intruders in your house, better go to any well reputed bank and ask for a safety deposit box. It might cost you a penny but atleast it is safer there compared to your house.

One these days needs a digital safety deposit box with smart contract in built based on blockchain, so its permanent, unalterable, and safely passed on given the criteria are met (smart contract).
Storing digital wealth in physical location!! In next 20 years we would be beyond that.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children. on: November 19, 2017, 06:31:33 AM
Buy a bitcoin > send it to paper wallet > laminate that paper > store it in ziplock sandwich bag > tell your wife about it (no don't tell your wife, she will take it and run away with someone else) > if you can afford a safety deposit box, store that sandwich bag in that safety box and will that box to your children.

Problem is not the wallet nor about storing it. The hard part is about recovering it without your help while keeping it secure.

Another option is wait for someone to come out with blockchain technology which stores this information privately/securly and have smart contract in them which allows the said information to be passed onto your children only at certain age.

Australian banks are looking into private blockchain to store the bonds.
May be the banks should invest in digital safety box based on blockchain (Store your bitcoins, itune purchases, email addresses, etc) which can be willed to your benefactors.
46  Other / Off-topic / Re: What wallets do you use? on: November 19, 2017, 06:08:45 AM
I am using JAXX for mobile wallet and electrum for desktop wallet.

Mobile wallet for day trading and electrum for long term hold.

However, the transaction cost on JAXX is up now to 0.007 BTC, which is a lot. I only keep 0.04 to 0.09 btc in this wallet and paying 0.007 BTC mining fee is not worth it.

Need to look for a new mobile wallet with less transaction fee. One that holds other currency (ETH, LTC, or others) and allows changing in between them (ShapeShift) and has less fee on iphone, any suggestions?
When you are day trading its easier to send the coins to exchange in another currency as is faster and has less transaction fee, So need a wallet that allows the swap.

Blockchain wallet has BTC and ETH but does not allow the swap.
Bread and Airblitz only stores BTC.
Coinomi only for Android.

I would prefer the wallet keeps the private key on device and not after web wallet.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: *** [PRE-ANN][ORME] *** - ORMEUS COIN || the ‘gold standard’ of cryptocurrency on: November 19, 2017, 03:25:17 AM

Believe it not, this is the first coin ever that seems to be backed by something other than simply hot air.

Very interesting.

Actually it is not, there are others with crypto as a reserve, such as bancor (ETH reserve) and some others that have a Bitcoin reserve (note that bitcoin as any other currency in general is also only "hot air" because it gets its value only from the people accepting it as a way of payment and trusting in the currency. Remember how much 1 BTC was worth 2013). There is also Tether that (should at least) have a reserve of 1USD for every Tether that is issued. Nobody knows if this is really happening though, it is all based on trusting the tether company. If I'm not mistaken there are also currencies backed by gold and other assets, even currencies backed by real estate shares. Problem is, if there is no valid proof of these assets backing the coin, its also merely hot air.
All that said: I still think this project is really interesting. As it is as you said, something backed by something valuable. Lets wait for the devs to answer!

Yes, I am new to these crypto and so far all I saw in daily ICOs, was that the devs just releasing coins after coins without offering of anything of value, not one that I saw was backed by anything. I agree, BTC is also simply "hot air" and also agree that there is no guarantee if coin devs of ORME coin will do what they say they will, but for time being it at least seems to be backed by something and surprisingly its going up in value.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ⚡ Electroneum ⚡ Token Sale Sept 14th Mobile Mining Crypto Coin on: November 18, 2017, 06:52:20 AM
I saw this update today on their FB page: "Don't forget, HackerOne will be performing their penetration testing over the coming weeks, we'll keep you updated and inform you as soon as we hear anything from their end. If you've missed any important updates or posts from the past few weeks please feel free to visit our blog; https://electroneum.com/blog/"

Was the new "official" thread closed? There was no comment it was going to be closed.

Yes, yesterday I went to visit the moderated thread to check on this project and it was closed. WTF!
My gut feeling said, the devs did runner with the money. Don't know what to believe anymore.

Very shitty way to start a new thread (moderated) and than close it without any notice or announcements.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: *** [PRE-ANN][ORME] *** - ORMEUS COIN || the ‘gold standard’ of cryptocurrency on: November 18, 2017, 03:19:13 AM
Quote
The value of ORME is backed by the “gold standard” of cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin. The Ormeus
Reserve Vault (ORV) is a multisignature Bitcoin wallet address where mined bitcoin from the Ormeus
Mine is deposited as a backing security for the ORME currency. The ORME Enhanced Smart Contract
locks up the bitcoin in the ORV using existing bitcoin protocol opcodes. All bitcoin produced by the
Ormeus Mine will be deposited directly to the ORV.

Nice work guys, can't wait to see this develop further.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: *** [PRE-ANN][ORME] *** - ORMEUS COIN || the ‘gold standard’ of cryptocurrency on: November 17, 2017, 10:29:51 PM
The concept looks interesting. So Ormeus is a mining company that issues their own tokens that are backed by a Bitcoin (the gold standard of crypto) reserve. Did I understand that correctly or did I miss something? I will have a look at the website now and come back with more feedback.

Yeah, have the same question.
Does this mean each ORME token is Ethereum smart contract bound to control the Bitcoin reserve that was mined?

Believe it not, this is the first coin ever that seems to be backed by something other than simply hot air.

Very interesting.

Also, the ICO is private, what does that mean? can we participate in that?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: what will be the future of ripple. on: November 17, 2017, 04:34:48 AM
I am a newbie and also was in the same thought process and have bought some ripple. But this coin hasn't budged at all in price in long time.
Apart from high capitalization, not much is happening with this coin.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - BLOOM - ONLINE - new virtual fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: November 17, 2017, 01:33:22 AM
Any info on how to claim the BTX on coinomi wallet?

You need to create a new wallet, but do not delete the existing one. Private key does not move.

Follow the next steps.

Open your wallet, click on the top left menu, then hit the “+ COINS” button in the button and select “Bitcore” from the mind-blowing list of Coinomi’s 86 supported coins and 214 tokens.

A pop-up dialogue will appear, asking if Bitcore should be added. Hit the “ADVANCED SETTINGS” button. In the “Derivation Path” please enter:

M/44H/0H/0H

Please note that the characters before “H” are zeroes and not O’s.

Hint: If you have more than one Bitcoin wallets in your Coinomi and want to claim the equivalent BTX you will have to repeat the above process, replacing each time the last zero with the (zero-based) account index, so for the second wallet this would be M/44H/0H/1H, for the third wallet it would be M/44H/0H/2H, and so forth.

Now click “ADD”.

That’s it! Your BTX wallet is now ready!

After you move BTX from your newly created wallet to the old, you can delete the newly created.

Thank you.

But my BTCs are in different wallet (electrum) and was looking to import the private key of that wallet into Coinomi's BitCore wallet to claim the BTX. I couldn't see a way to do that.

In above steps, It is expected to have the BTC in Coinomi wallet with private keys on the device, and by creating new BitCore wallet and having the private keys there already it would claim the BTX in BitCore wallet, but for someone like me who has different BTC wallet, I couldn't find a way to add the private keys.

Thank you Sir,
I was not sure what the sweep would do. That explained it for me.

Once again, Thank you for your help. Smiley

Any info on how to claim the BTX on coinomi wallet?

Just read it on their site, I guess I should have used the Windows wallet. Sad

"Right now importing a private key for Bitcore is only possible with the Bitcore Core wallet."

Those who have problem with Airdrop registration, this may help. But than again not everyone is a noob like me. Smiley

For address, use the receiving address of your wallet where the coins are (Address to where you received them from exchange) to sign the message with text AIRDROP. (I couldn't figure out which address I was suppose to use).
Secondly, on bitcore.cc airdrop registration page, it asks for your public key, this is incorrect, it should be your receiving address the one you used for message signing. (I was using public key which COINOMI wallet showed me and it failed everytime.)

Hope that helps

Hi, Which address are you suppose to use for Airdrop?

Public Key or the Receive address?

Question regarding BitCoreQT wallet.

Where do you find your private key and or seed passphrase? I couldn't find one that shows me these for backup and security.

Wow! I missed out on buying this coin due to high BTC mining fee and couldn't send my BTC to exchange.

And this Coin just skyrocketed. Should have sucked in and paid the 0.0008 BTC mining fee in transaction.
