how likely would you get a block mining solo? anyone mined using a single machine Avalon 741 or the S9?

@cableiso
Thank you for the size, we don't have winter here, adding an air duct would help keep the Avalon cool, I think.
@Steamtyme
Thank you for the link, that is what i like to do, i learned you need to add a fan for that long run setup, can I ask what will happen if you don't add a fan? I know that hot air rises so i guess the air would just move up by itself.
@philipma1957
Thank you philipma1957, I would be using your option here, plus add your sound proof tunnel to the mix.

It currently takes about ~13.5 days to reach your full payout potential. So far this month we are getting about 0.00028344 BTC/TH/Day so for a 13.5TH S9 it would be roughly 0.00322123 BTC/Day on average.
hi clgrissom3, 1. do you need to register for the full payout potential to work? I'm wondering if you can use just the Bitcoin Address. 2. if you disconnect your device because of a power outage, will the potential be carried over or you start again on the 1 day? 3. they found some block today, will you get something if you are connected or your need the 13.5 days to get a reward? Thanks

Hi all,
Has anyone tried adding an aluminum air duct thing on the Avalon 741 black shroud fan? What size of Air Duct did you use?
Thank all

Thank you @HagssFIN for the very quick answer!
Thank you @Waztim for the head's up about the bitcoin address! I need to create one now.
|
|
|
Thank you @Waztim @HagssFIN for the explanations!
Are the workers and your bitcoin address connected? I mean if you only use the bitcoin address 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb, then you suddenly changed it to have a .worker ( 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb.worker, will the work you did in the bitcoin address only will get transferred to the new worker?
|
|
|
Hi,
1. can i use just the bitcoin address in the Worker: field?
In the example format is Worker: 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb.worker
can i just use bitcoin address without the .worker like this Worker: 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb
2. How does the payout work? I did not understand the 5Nd.
3. Is this address correct ? stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 or nya+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333?
Thanks all

Hi philipma1957,
How far should the tunnel be? can i make a shorter tunnel say 1ft x 2ft? or the length helps in the sound proofing?
|

Thanks NotFuzzyWarm, I will check ambient temp, is that the room temperature? I also found a post by philipma1975 creating some kind of enclosure that could work to lessen the noise.

Hello,
I was able to witness an Avalon 741 from a friend and the sound when the fan is running at 80% is very loud, when it starts up to 50%, the sound is not that bad, is there any way to set the fan to 50%?
Thanks

hi fanatic26, I thought the controller (raspberry pi) is powered by an external adapter or are you talking about a different controller?

I would like to know this also, you could use Add2PSU, that would make 2 psu connected, I have not seen more psu connected by using more Add2psu device, maybe someone has tried it?
|
|
|
Thank you cableiso! I will follow your suggestions.

@Steamtyme
I have it pre-order, I would like to have one big server psu but I cannot find anyone selling here, I have not tried buying online, I might check how it works. Thanks
@cableiso
Thank you very much for the explanation.
Just to be clearer.
1.connect the 2 psu to Avalon 2. start the first psu 3. start the second psu 4. start controller
Is that correct?
Have you tried using Add2psu to the psu? will that work? I'm thinking if i use add2psu then I would just need one outlet to use instead of 2 outlets.

Hello,
I'm planning on getting an Avalon 741 and 2 psu 650w to power the device.
I will buy 2 x Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 650W.
How will i connect these into Avalon 741?
I've seen the diagram and I need to put 1 psu on 1 side and 1 psu on the other side.
Do I need to daisy chain this similar to the GPU mining rigs by adding Add2PSU?
or can I connect the 2 psu together using Add2PSU so i only need 1 outlet?
Thank you for the help
