There are two types of people that argue against trusted escrow... scammers and asshats.

If you're neither of those, you should have no problem making a transaction via escrow Smiley

That's a funny statement you make considering your auction says

Hey all,

I've received 30 Avalon ASIC chips, and will be auctioning off four of them here.

These chips are not functional bitcoin miners. This auction is intended for developers seeking chips to test their designs with.

Terms:
I reserve the right to refuse any bid, or cancel the auction at any point before payment is made.
People trust me -- I've never used escrow before and am not going to start now.
Auction ends on Sunday, June 10th at 8:55 PM PST
If a bid is placed in the last 5 minutes of the auction, extend the auction duration by 2 minutes. (can occur repeatedly)

Bidding starts at 0BTC -- Please bid in 0.2BTC minimum increments.

Happy bidding!

--Garrett

Just an observation, for the record I do NOT think Garrett is a scammer.

I would take the blank band with silver top because its casual and would go with many outfits I have. I like silver more than gold for w/e reason. Maybe you have a white gold watch?

If he wanted to scam he would have posted a Bitcoin address. So I don't think it's a scam.

The site he thinks to is a legit crowdfunding site ranking 12,170 in Alexa:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoFundMe

The only thing that could be scammy were if the guy posted a fake sob story to get money. But then again it can't be proved. Pay if you want to and trust he is being honest. Don't pay if you don't want to or don't trust it. I don't see the big deal.

Yup, the best way to avoid scams is not to participate in any. It would be a shame if it was a scam and someone donated a sizeable amount of cash to it.

it would be equally, if not more, sad if this were true and fellow humans stood by and refused to help - on an assumption that its a scam.

Don't read to far into his posts, all he does is spam to get his post count up.

How about you send me a 1 BTC gift and I may or may not send it back to you.  Deal?

1BurtWEejbnKeBRsvcydJvsNztB1bXV5iQ

Thanks for playing!

Let's turn this into a pyramid scheme like that website. When you get your 1 BTC, send 20% of it to me, Smiley.

And you can send me 10% of that.
50  Economy / Auctions / Re: HOUSE IN GERMANY FOR 1BTC NO RESERVE. on: June 15, 2013, 04:13:50 PM
A house for 18.75 BTC  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

The title is not correct. The building needs to be taken down. It is just the land that has value.

You seem over concerned about this. If people are going to bid and buy the property I am sure they have read the OP and seen the picture. No need to repeat this every other post.

Of those in power:

The unintelligent ones won't be able to adapt and fight to preserve what they have, only postponing the inevitable.
The intelligent ones will takes this time to adapt and preserve their power. Honestly, not even that much intelligence is needed for them to pull that off.

Good point; those who aren't quite so bright will think they have a better chance trying to fight Bitcoin.  But that's like trying to fight the Internet; you just won't win, and from what I've gathered about men in power, they're not very tech-savvy, so I don't predict many will attempt to adopt Bitcoin, or even see why it's the path of least resistance.  The US dollar's a sinking ship, and those who take the time to understand why Bitcoin is so vital at a time like this will persevere in the end.

Agree with this completely. Good post sir.

Is that considered child molestation? If the teacher was a guy and the student a girl, oh shit better watch out.

I'd be careful selling any irreversible currency for a reversible payment. Seems like a no brainer to me.
