All that glitters is not gold. Soon the launch of the telegram open network, so I think that all such "crypto"-messenger applications will die. They are simply not needed when there is a telegram.
Telegram is a centralized app though no? Also no payments can funnel through telegram that's why whatsapp has such a large database

With Facebook's system that has a lot of private information of their users all stored up in their social media feed I don't think they will have a hard time on verifying and obtaining much more vital information from their potential Libra users. The rest of the companies on the other hand might still follow the regular procedures when it comes to requiring KYC for their customers and most probably it won't change even after Facebook has launch their Libra coin. I do heavily suspect that these big companies will have no problem handling our information to the government just for compliance purposes.
To an extent. I don't think they will be doing this for every person's information but anything that looks somewhat suspicious. Ciphertrace already generates a report regarding the total amount of funds moving which I think will be of interest to the government too.

Omg it doesn't stop. I really still have an issue wrapping my mind around this still

I know Celer just released a skills based blockchain game. I haven't played it yet but it might be worth checking it out. It's a mobile first game though

The FATF recent nonbinding guidance for cryptocurrency activity really stirred the community especially the part about requiring banks to share any info if transferring more than $1k. The community should rejoice in knowing that blockchain analytics firm CipherTrace and attestation platform Shyft are developing an proof-of-knowledge protocol which allows crypto service providers to share info without disclosing user identity! This resembles something like a zero-knowledge proof which involves a smart contract platform shared between exchanges and other relevant crypto service companies. Pretty rad if you ask me! Would love to know all of your thoughts? https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/ciphertrace-shyft-team-id-protecting-solution-fatf-crypto-guidance

I would connect with PR agencies to help you get those relationships that you want to build in order to publish to top tier websites. some might make you charge too so idk if that's in your budget

Nodes have been selected for their betanet! Let's do this. Has anyone looked into their ArrowSDK?

|

I would look into Elixxir. Privacy payments application with a messaging component. Led by David Chaum and some top tier investors. I know a lot of people in the community are pretty excited about this one

BBC recently did a interview around the volatility of cryptocurrencies. I think we are still so early in this industry but I would love to know your thoughts about where we are going and how you think the landscape will change. People in the podcast include: Marc Warne, Founder, Bittylicious Jemima Kelly, reporter, FT Alphaville Dave Jevans, CEO, CipherTrace https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000676m

Yes btc and wallet activity can be traced through blockchain forensics companies like Ciphertrace who have the proper technology to do so

It is most definitely going to get worse especially with Calibra wallet set into place. Imagine all the data they can extract from our spending history

This article is interesting, there several interesting points. The first one is that the fraud has dramatically increased compared to 2018. This is something that i was not expecting, I believed that the fraud level would be lower than in 2018 because of ICO s are not so popular anymore. I dont understand how the OP thinks that KYC should help , this is about people scamming thru ICOs and lost funds thru exchange hacks. I found very interesting that they keep statistics on how much funds are going out of the country. An analysis of 164 million bitcoin transactions showed that cross-border payments to offshore exchanges have grown 46% over the last two years, contributing to the $8.7 trillion, or 11.5 percent of the world’s wealth, hidden offshore, the report said. I thought that was interesting too. It's interesting to see that there are more countries than others that have shown the highest movement of laundered money. Is there a reason for that?

|
|
We know that money laundering is going to happen, people will always find a way so it's a matter of how will we regulate this? I think we can look to Malta as a leading country and see that hiring a cyber security firm like ciphertrace is a great first step on crypto's side.

I like the appeal and the move towards a more sustainable future but I think even these projects are not as 'clean' as we would like them to be
|
|
|
Someone please convince me that Facebook isn't going to analyze every transaction being made between family, friends and users. I think it's fair to us to have our privacy protected. They already know everything else about us and now they will have our spending habits?
David Chaum who is a OG cypherpunk and privacy advocate wrote to Mark early on asking if he could help with any future projects regarding privacy yet Mark didn't even respond. Instead David has set out to create his own privacy payments and messaging platform coined Elixxir.
Looking forward to seeing how both of these projects play out and how people choose privacy over none.
