My Sapphire HD7950 run stable @520Khs and use 136w = 3.82Khs/w
i read someone says: "stay away from 7950" yes, if you dont know how to undervolt, and you dont care about profit, stay away from 7950.
ps: hd 7950 vddc is unlooked.
that is a really nice result. how did you measure the 136W? It seems very low. what voltage does it run on? can you post a screen? sorry for not believing everything that gets posted... anyways, if it is true, then that is amazing! I currently hope that the BIOS optimizations by TheStilt on the 290s will increase performance or drop power draw (which is too high). although the platform (Hawaii) is new, it looses sout to Tahiti and almost to old Pitcairn...

hey, could you please get out of my thread with your stupid 7950s EOL problem?
if you are mining on used cards for cheap, then warranty is not the thing you should worry about! if you are worried, get a newer model 280x is there... quite similar. (i know that it is the 7970 and not the 7950)
so end of story. please leave now!

hey, a general info /warning if you are using e.g. SGMINER or newer forks!
there seems to be a bug in some miner forks with pool management, that hinders the miner from switching to the primary pool (betarigs).
If a rent is over, the primary pool (betarigs) will disconnect and become unavailable. now the problem in the miner seems to be that if it cannot reconnect within xxx time (1-3 hours?), it will somehow disable the primary pool that way, if the rig gets rented around that time (it shows available in betarigs), the miner will not go to betarigs pool anymore but stuck on the secondary/Backup pool
since I switched to a recent SGminer with xIntensity I am facing that problem.
So just check if you are seeing that as well. if not (what miners are you using?)
I'm seeing the same problem with sgminer 4.0.0. Glad I'm not the only one. 4.0 was the first where I noticed it... they added all kinds of pool management, I guess that must have "broken" something...

anyhow:
I got some ideas to improve my aircooled rigs ;-)
the raven rv03 is a crappy case, but the airflow and 90° motherboard arrangement kinda works (crappy, because it is low quality, like a $50 case, not thought through in many places)
does anybody know how to channel/force the air better through a quad GPU setup?
I know that the HAF-X comes with a GPU bracket (don't know if it fits "all" GPUs) Also I found this on the net (custom made/3D print) which is what I have in mind. I might build one from a plastic "icecream-box" or similar. any suggestions on what to use/buy/build that doesn't make me work 5h on it? The 290 GPUs have tiny screw holes at the back that I could use to attach something to, but how do I attach a fan to a self made duct?
amd should make more like this:
does anyboy know what "size" the screw holes are at the back of the GPUs? what are they good for anyways?![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.anandtech.com%2Fdoci%2F4254%2FTriSLI.jpg&t=664&c=2cqUpUg5Tf6VxQ)

I noticed a problem. It could be betarigs, could be sgminer 4.1 or could be me ;-)
Help/Ideas appreciated:
I posted earlier, that after some time of not beeing rented sgminer will quit polling/testing/checking (whatever it does) on the betarigs pool.
This has two consequences: 1. if it gets rented in that period, the miner will not auto switch to betarigs-pool... that is bad 2. after some time my rig will be shown as offline by the website. If I restart sgminer manually it will show as online again within minutes.
Is this a bug? is this a misconfiguration? (should I add something to my miner config to keep polling?)
Anybody else noticed this behaviour?

I like the filters, but as a slight imrovement to the complex search style I would prefer some "single link" solution.
just a line of major filters: scyrpt | min xxx kH | lowest price that would be activated by clicking on them

i pay 0,36 USD / KWh every watt matters
I pay 0.1 at most. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) I don't care! this is not what this thread is about. I am looking for maximum power-efficency and not moving to your undemocratic country! My Sapphire HD7950 run stable @520Khs and use 136w = 3.82Khs/w

That card is reaching its EOL, stay away from it. there is no EOL for mining the 7950 GPU is still made in 7970s/280x so it is not outdated. please stop spamming this thread with things that don't belong here!

hey, that was not against your efforts, they are greatly appreciated.
but as you know that beside this great community there are quite a few people that are looking for quick opportunities. all I want is make people aware of who they trust, and who they install software from... e.g. I could "fork" your software, put some trojan bot miner in there and post the downloadlink as a "second server"... it would be so easy... just want to make people aware of the risk involved.
keep doing you great job!

@all
I suggest we put the "what is happening with GOX and BTC/LTC" into another thread?
|
|
|
waiting to see rental prices adjust to the new value of BTC...
|
|
|
I might try, will report results i a new thread (and post some info here).

My rig is tested and keccak capable, however it appears I'll have to manually change it over to keccak at the renters request. Is this how the rest of you are doing things?
well, your rig can only be either or...

|

did the trade, worked fine, good contact!

|

thanks for the effort...
has anybody "just installed" (i know it is tricky) windows 7/8 to a USB drive? even if the setup is slightly more tricky, it gives you a full regular desktop... I might try next weekend... (but then, a cheap ssd is only 50 bucks ;-) (sorry, not supposed to hijack your efforts/thread, but I guess around here would be the best chance to get some first hand experience)

hi, two questions:
how does the licensing work? windows is not open source nor free...
has anybody checked for malware? hidden mining/backdors, etc? this would be a perfect way to scam^^

calling for: souljah1h
you are renting my rig, but your poolinformation must be wrong! it shows as dead... please check / contact me!
Click on your mining rig and there you can contact him directly. no, i cannot. that is what I used to do with other renters, but in this rent, there is no textbox. (only the "give extra hours")... BUG? Indeed, the dialog textbox would only appear if your rig started the job -- but it seems that you rig hasn't. So now you should see the contact form even if the rig hasn't started the job (but payment is confirmed). well, how can my rig start the job, when the pool is dead? but true. textbox showed up!

Hmm, I'll put a ticket in. I have four jobs from yesterday that haven't been paid yet. They simply say "Job Finished"
so whats so difficult in waiting a couple more hours?
