41  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: WatchMine (beta) - Mobile website for mining pool stats and bitcoin prices on: June 18, 2011, 02:05:22 AM
Love the layout, great idea Cheesy
I'd love to recommend this to our pool users, would you mind adding support for BitClockers.com?
JSON Formatted
Pool API: http://bitclockers.com/api/
User API: http://bitclockers.com/api/APIKEYHERE

Thanks!
Thanks for your interest. Another user also requested BitClockers. I plan to work on adding support tonight or tomorrow.

EDIT: Bitclockers support is now live.

Thanks for your patience and interest. I'm determined to get WatchMine working for you.

I have exactly the same type of phone as you. The difference is that I haven't gone to 4.3.3 yet. I'll upgrade tomorrow and see if I can replicate your results.

The most likely possibility is that for whatever reason something between your phone and my webhost has cached old versions of the WatchMine files. Try this:
1. Home. Double Tap home button and kill Safari and/or the WatchMine process
2. Home > Settings App > Safari > Clear cache
3. Try WatchMine again (You have to re-setup WatchMine so have apikeys handy)

It's possible your ISP is using a "transparent proxy/cache" for which the only cure is time. I'll add no-cache headers to the data downloads tomorrow which might help the situation.

If that doesn't work then: What would help me out is if you can send me your prefs. Do so via email or PM.
Disclosure: Those prefs contain your apikeys which will give me read-only access to your stats. I promise to not do anything unethical with them and will delete them once I have solved your problem.
I made the following link for you to get view your locally stored prefs:

Pretty cool!  I'd love to see support added for these pools:
BTCGuilld: http://www.btcguild.com/
Bit Clockers: http://www.bitclockers.com/
Thanks!
BTCGuild support has just gone live. Will work on Bitclockers tomorrow.

Nice!  Just some feedback:  I'm trying to add slush and (it's apparently down at the moment) so it get's in a state where you have a screen with a spinny thing like it's thinking or something.  I'm unable to get out of it.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll fix that this evening. I suspect the easiest thing to do will be to set a sensible timeout (maybe 12 seconds) for the websites to answer before timing out. In the long-term I'll make the badges show results as soon as their individual data comes in.

EDIT: I've set the max timeout for getting stats to 12 seconds.

Anyway that we can include shares can represent some interest in the underlying hardware and not just the hashing power?
47  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: WatchMine (beta) - Mobile website for mining pool stats and bitcoin prices on: June 16, 2011, 11:35:51 AM
I've just added Swepool support. Also a few other minor bug fixes and code refactoring to improve things.

Hi. I built a mobile website suitable for miners to keep track of their pool stats while they're on the go. I hope you find it useful.

Hi, I've created a mobile website for tracking Bitcoin related stats while on the go. I've been using this myself for a couple of weeks and it's time the public got a look.

WatchMine: http://watchmine.infudu.com

Features
  • See important stats all in one screen
  • Javascript and localStorage based - nothing is stored on the webserver
  • Mining pool stats for: bitclockers, bitcoinpool, btcguild, btcmine, deepbit, slush & swepool (open for requests)
  • Market data from exchanges including MTGOX, TradeHill and many more
  • Price data (weighted price)
  • Optimised for iPhone/iTouch (tested on Android)
Many future features are planned. Add your requests in this thread - it will help me prioritise. I accept bounties.

Money
I might add premium features to WatchMine later but the basic stats viewing function will always remain free. I need your help to do this so please tip me a few bitcents. I accept bounties for feature requests and can even customize a personal version of WatchMine just for you.

License
WatchMine and its code is copyright 2011 E. Turner (me). You are welcome to use WatchMine and view the underlying code, but you may not copy it. This site represents a non-trivial investment of my time and skill.

Getting Started
The default screen lists some stats that might not suit you. Click the Edit button and remove anything you don't want. Then click the Finish button. After that click the Add button and start adding stats the stats that you do want. Each stat is added onto the end of the list. Clicking Edit will allow you to re-order stats using up/down arrows.

App Mode
This site runs best as a full screen app: On iOS devices you can click the middle button on the bottom toolbar in the Safari web-browser. You'll then get an option to "Add to Home Screen" - click this and WatchMine will appear just like any other app. Cool huh.

Privacy & Security
I take your privacy and security seriously.
Only preference data is stored on your local device (using localStorage). This data is only transmitted to my webserver when needed but is not stored on my server. There is basically nothing harmful that I could do with the miner pool apikeys anyway because they provide read-only access to data.
All client-side code can be viewed using the usual web developer tools. I'm prepared to let prominent community members view and verify that the server-side code is doing nothing malicious if people want that.

Your btc tips, bounties and feedback will all encourage me to improve this mobile app further.

if an usa player wants to play online i have an easier way . I can create for him a full tilt poker account  whith spanish nationality and fund it whith dollars . He pays me in bitcoins . I give him the password. Whenever he wants to withdraw funds he just sends the dollars to my account and i give him bitcoins for them . Thats all. Also i will transfer to existing accounts in full tilt dollars for bitcoins whith a 10% premium. I will pay full tilt dollars for bitcoins at market+10%.
I'd be very careful with this. FullTilt are notorious for closing down accounts that they are the least bit suspicious about with only the barest of whiff of evidence.

So just how much %age of your tax dollars goes on welfare? In my country it's about a quarter. The largest segment of social welfare spending is in paying government guaranteed superannuation. They paid tax all their lives so I guess they deserve it. The next largest sector is students: for loans and allowances combined. Following that is a benefit paid to solo parents....
How does your country compare?

Awesome, I'd LOVE to do this. What are the implications from the recent US smack down of the online poker industry. By that I mean, if we aren't playing the tourneys with real money are we playing w/ play money?
IANAL and not in the USA - but the busts were against the sites fraudulently (allegedly) recording player deposits. It's apparently not illegal to gamble for money, but it is illegal to process money for gambling. I think players are pretty safe. In the case of bitcoin - which is technically not money (only points) I think there's a good case for saying it's a bit like pokerstars.NET
54  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Play Poker for BTC on Pokerstars on: June 13, 2011, 07:34:32 AM
they already have a dedicated poker room for bitcoin already incase u guys didnt know?

I can't remember the address but all it took me was a quick google search and I've seen plenty of people playing, I think blinds were 0.05BTC and 0.1BTC Huh
Pretty sexy Cheesy
The bitcoin poker website is: http://betco.in
Betting is done is chips - which are basically a bitcent each. There's small games running to suit even those with only 2 bitcents. Sometimes you have to join a table and wait for a bit.
55  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Lawyer Introduction Thread on: June 13, 2011, 07:29:23 AM
Thanks for pointing this out, I'll look into it. Although being IRC-based it is not as much decentralized as bitcoin network. (so it can be taken down relatively easy)
That's why I mentioned the Freenet web-of-trust.
56  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Centralization: How do clients initially know who to talk to? on: June 13, 2011, 06:03:27 AM
Some hard wired nodes - and apparently a fallback implemented / planned to lookup an IRC channel?
57  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Lawyer Introduction Thread on: June 13, 2011, 06:00:50 AM
I've been thinking about this lately. A much better thing would be if we could build a totally new and independent "distributed governing body"/"direct democracy" functioning on similar principles as bitcoin (being p2p/decentralized, based on "proof of work" - or "peer vouching" term could be more appropriate in this case) or being a part of bitcoin infrastructure.

[snip]

For example, suppose you want to establish an identity for yourself (which can consist of arbitrary credentials/id-elements like your name, address, ebay-like feedback etc). So you "declare" the specific credentials and then ask people who can confirm them to vouch for you. The more people vouched for your credentials the more "trusted" those credentials are, obviously. (think of number of confirmations for btc transactions)
The FreeNet Web-of-Trust plugin does exactly this for FreeNet identities. I guess the closest thing that we have for Bitcoin would be the reputation system used by #Bitcoin-otc That could be expanded to include the features that you're looking for.

If you're really keen then look to extend #Bitcoin-otc 's system, specifically created a plugin and/or easy way to verify identities on these forums.
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Open Source FPGA Bitcoin Miner (Smaller Devices Now Supported!) on: June 13, 2011, 05:56:12 AM
Maybe a stupid question, but why can't existing crypto hardware acceleration chips be used? Why does a new one have to be built?
Do you have a suggestion?
The only IC I could find that do SHA256 are kinda slow when looking at the throughput needed for mining. Sure you could chain a ton of them (they're cheap in lots of 1000) but the control logic surrounding it could get expensive.
The custom crypto-smashing machines so far have been FPGA or structured ASIC based. I think the one that cracked the RC4 challenge was like $250K worth or something.

Sorry for my ignorance: I bought a lot of your share, but my balance had no decreased. I dont understand.
It's likely the the order is in the system but did not go through. Use that following commands:

bmc balance    - Tells you what your balance is
bmc folio         - Tells you what shares you own
bmc orders      - Tells you what orders you have open (ie waiting for a market to be made to a trade to occur)
bmc depth SIN - Tells you the price and amount of open orders for the stock SIN. Useful!

Hope that helps.

(1) The lack of any Finance Sheet for the SIN stock - see and for two excellent examples for UBX and CM400 respectively.
^This. When Tawsix gets time a read only google doc spreadsheet will work well for this. It's the kinda thing many poker stakers used to keep backers informed.

Is there any sort of SLA for your investors? Asking because poor weather, moody ISP (personal line I assume with no SLA), etc. means there are many variables that may cause you significant downtime.
Pretty hard for Tawsix to offer investors SLAs - especially given that this is not a time-length contract like Centimine/CM400. I'd prefer that he didn't try because the maths working one out would mean a percentage cut from out profits. Likely that percentage would be greater than the actual risk.
A related question would be: Does Tawsix have SLA with any of his suppliers? Internet / Power?
