41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bit Coin is a Ponzi Scheme on: December 08, 2017, 09:03:56 PM
I am a self-made multi-millionaire through a well paying day job (M.D.) and income producing real estate. I own some crypto just for fun, but I'm not sure I see the utility.

USD $ enables me to buy real estate, which produces INCOME. Crypto will never produce cash flow. Therefore, I don't YET see it as an investment. I also cannot buy a plane ticket, car, or condo with Bitcoin, so its not a currency either.

Crypto is about 0.5% of my portfolio, but so far, its been slow at producing any WEALTH. You still have to find someone to give you useable money for Bitcoin, and Coinbase charges $40 for me to pull out $3000 of my OWN Bitcoin.

Real estate is not safe in a civil war? Real estate is even safe during a natural disaster, if you carry insurance. AND it produces INCOME/cash flow, something Bitcoin will never do.

It is not you only, I am seeing the same. Yes the price increase is shocking but good for us.

Its only a paper gain unless you sell. So, not good.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: whooo!!! Bitcoin just broke the $15,000 mark!!! on: December 07, 2017, 08:59:48 AM
As of writing this, the value of Bitcoin is $15,150 already.  How much more in the next few days???
I sold some today when it was $14,700 price.. Hold yours for more value..

If it hits $20,000, I will liquidate. I have no want or desire to hold BTC in a usb drive and protect the key. If the investment doesn't pay me every month, its useless to me. I do have $100,000 or so cash in the bank I keep liquid for real estate investments.. a small part deep inside me is just saying to 'put it all on black' (Bitcoin). Haha, very interesting times Cool

Hoping for an upcoming correction so I could buy. But at this current price it's harder to buy more

I had the same issue, Always when I wait for a correction it goes up instead of down.
Now i'm applying dollar cost avaraging.
Works great. I just buy small amounts on a fixed day each week, and when in goes down I buy a little more than usual.
Next to that I have a few open orders on what could be considered a correction price. so it automatically fills in case the price dips and i'm not paying attention.

You just leave open 'limit' orders on GDAX? I don't know if I would feel comfortable leaving more than 500USD cash on an exchange. There is no way to set this up on Coinbase?
