41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI on: May 03, 2018, 06:12:51 PM
How is this device different, in practical application, than an ASIC?  It is essentially a super-ASIC that can't be forked away from.

It is still expensive.  Already farms are approaching OP to buy up the supply.

OP also mentioned that there is room for "hundreds" of these devices before hash rate gets bad enough to hurt productivity.  And in the same post mentioned production ramp-up will not be an issue.  And you guys think it's going to stop with just a few hundred?

It's an arms race and the little guy isn't going to be able to compete.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Electroneum (ETN) Mobile Miner on: May 03, 2018, 12:57:56 PM
Yah I have the same issue it says it pays out every 10 ETN however now I've got more than that pending and it isn't paying out.

Also it refuses to stay open on my phone and after about a day or so I end up having to reopen the app and put my PIN in.  Makes keeping it open to "mine" a little harder.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: May 03, 2018, 12:17:14 PM
Anybody load the new AMD driver?  Does it break anything?  Change hash rates?

After the windows 10 update I lost about 15-20 h/s with my vega64.  I had one gpu 2005 h/s and now I'm back to 1985 h/s.

If this doomsday device is what the OP suggests.  I don't see how GPUs are going to survive this.  If the ASIC is a 10 kiloton hiroshima style weapon.  This is a 10 megaton hydrogen bomb.  And it's going to get dropped right on your GPU rig.

I wet the bed last night after reading this thread.   Wink Cheesy

I admit that I'm afraid of this device.  I just set my rig up late December before the peak and the crash.

The last thing I want to do is see this come out and totally annihilate GPU mining.  And that is exactly what it has the potential to do.  Profitability for everything else will be completely destroyed and we'll be stuck fire selling everything we have in the hope we can get in line to acquire this hardware and software.  That is if the promises of being able to actually obtain this in the first place without large farms buying up everything and dominating are true.

That metroid kid may be right.  This could be the end of GPU mining.

Been working on tuning these hynix red devil vega56 for a few days.  Over time I've discovered that I have one "bad" card that will not go over 870mhz without invalid results.  Another one won't go over 900mhz.  The other cards will do 935mhz with an invalid result every 600+ shares.

1730 h/s for the higher clocked gpu in the rig and less for the slower cards.  I am going to try for intensity next and see if that can push closer to 1800 h/s.

Good thing I don't mind tinkering with these settings.  It can take days of testing to figure out the limits on clocks for each gpu and the best XMR-STAK configuration.  Smiley

Built a 6 gpu vega56 rig recently with powercolor red devils.  Hynix HBM.  Kinda wish I'd just spent the extra $150 per gpu for vega64 asus rog.

Half my cards wont get over 880mhz without 2-3% invalid results.  Increasing voltage w/OverdrivenTool doesn't help.  Temps are great.  Adrenaline drivers.

1650 h/s.  Undecided

Won't clock as high as samsung.

Red Devils and many non reference models will have hynix  I just got six Red Devils.  All hynix.

Shapeshift and Nexchange won't take zcoin.  I would have to sell it on an exchange for another currency which defeats the purpose of trying to avoid an exchange.

I live in a small city there isn't anyone local who will want to do this.

So looks like I can keep fishing around in the discord or get lucky and find someone in the marketplace here who wants to trade with me.  This sucks.   Sad
52  Economy / Trading Discussion / private trades on: April 23, 2018, 01:06:12 PM
Are there any subforums or forums that facilitate user->user transfers?  For instance if you want to trade one currency for another directly with the individual and bypass exchanges.  Completely private.

My nubness is showing here because I can't seem to find anything like that and I figured it would be around.

And I understand you risk being ripped off by some scumbag without the exchange middle man being in the picture.  If you're comfortable with the risk and want to split the transaction up into two parts to help then why not.

No discord channel for this coin?

I have a few zcoin I'd like to trade privately for XMR or LUX.  Not much.  I'm unsure what is the best way to go about doing this.  And yes I realize some jerk could theoretically steal from me.

55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / vega soft power tables on: April 15, 2018, 11:08:14 PM
Please explain.

The GPU is in the higher power states (mem_p3 and gpu_p7) when you are mining or gaming.  Very little time spent in lower p states.

Why do miners care about setting lower p states up?
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega closed case on: April 14, 2018, 08:50:46 PM
I'm about 100 h/s short of that with those same clocks and voltages and 0% power. Not sure why it's slower maybe because I'm using the adrenaline driver or could be the 1800 intensity I'm using.

I have OT.  I like wattman better.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega closed case on: April 14, 2018, 05:03:26 PM
My 6 GPU rig downstairs with 1080ti @ 55-65% fan speeds doesn't put out the amount of noise these 2 asus rog vega produce with fans spun up to 3000rpm.  I guess some people have a different definition of loud?  YMMV.  Smiley

Using Wattman I have got a couple profiles set up that keep hash to a (for me) acceptable level.  The cooler running GPU runs memory at 1100mhz with the core at around 1357mhz.  1900 h/s.  The warmer card has memory clocked back to 945mhz and core at 1012mhz.  1450 h/s.  Power is at 0%.  Core temps on both are around 53c and HBM around 60c.  I expect as the house warms up they will climb and get up to around 65c HBM temps.

This is with the fans at 3000rpm.  I am going to make a second set of profiles for when I'm actually using the PC or watching TV in this room.  That will be with fans around 2500rpm and with both GPU significantly clocked back down.  Hash will be terrible.  It will however be better than completely turning the miner off.  Eventually I will make a third set of profiles for use when I'm playing battlefront or far cry.

I really don't care if the cards aren't hitting 2000 h/s.  I replaced a 1080ti in this computer that was hashing 950 h/s.  Which was good for a 1080ti.  These two cards even being well off the point of optimized mainly due to the heat and noise issue are still a huge step up in production over the 1080ti.

If I could just get HWINFO64 to work for me..  Right now I'm forced to use gpu-z.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega closed case on: April 14, 2018, 01:41:47 PM
There is no way these cards are ever going to hash 1900+ in this computer unless I have the mining shut down entirely when I'm home.  3000rpm is STUPID loud with these cards.

I'm fine with getting each card to 1800 and being able to restart the computer and play games.  Apply profiles when I'm done and mine.  That is the goal here not max absolute hash.  The temps on the one card are making this difficult.

And to top it off HWINFO64 won't work on my system.  Crashes when detecting the video adapters.  I've unchecked the wake options.  Doesn't help.  The 32bit one works however only seems to detect one GPU.

I still don't understand what the point of the lower p states are.  They have no effect on the card while it is in actual use gaming or mining.  So why do people even bother with them?
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega closed case on: April 14, 2018, 04:52:11 AM
Post number two.

Even with the power limit down -50% and memory at 800mhz. Right now hbm temps are in mid 60s.

If I put the power limit back to zero and clocks back to 945 hbm temps hit close to 80.  Fan at 100% isn't enough then to keep him temps in the 60s.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega closed case on: April 14, 2018, 04:36:06 AM
No it hashes 1450 because the miner reports that.  The cooler running card hashes 1900 again per xmr stak.

It isn't throttling. I have the power limit at -50% and it's down clocked. The card runs too hot otherwise.

The hash I am getting is pretty stable. Rebooting the machine and reapplying wattman profiles makes no difference.

I've read the guide yes.  It has some good info but is getting old.  I'm not going to use BC drivers from August of last year on a mixed use system.
