41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: October 25, 2013, 04:25:34 PM
You will have to get access to your private key in order for any of the other methods to work for you.

Ok, from Coinbase's perspective, they'd have to implement these transaction classes for users, because they don't give users private keys.

I'll relay this to Olaf from Coinbase, who's been sympathetic, though unfortunately unable to get me out of this mess.

I think we should start a thread to address this issue. It would warn people about it, and help others who, like me, are victims of the decision to only support sendmany transactions - which was not made known until after the window period to initially buy Mastercoins came to an end.

To have supported this project and subsequently found that the Mastercoins I bought are locked ad infinitum is a horrible thing. Something should be done about it.

Red flags all over this one, zero communication is never a good sign imho!  Roll Eyes

not sure if maybe theres just no message or anything but i'm trying to withdraw and when i input my address and amount and press withdraw nothing happens, no dialog like "withdrawal processing" or similar but its still showing a balance so i'm guessing its not going through. help?

Shortly before your post, one of our early investors withdrew a large amount, leaving the hot wallet almost empty.

When you try to withdraw more than is in the hot wallet, you should see an error message added to the bottom of the withdraw dialog, like this:

At some zoom levels the warning doesn't fit; a scrollbar appears on the dialog and you have to scroll down to see it.  And on some devices, like phones, the display is too small for the error message to be visible.

Either way, I refilled the wallet shortly after it was emptied, so you can just try again.

do you see whats happened to PrimeDice you are next! LOL  Grin have funnn

At odds with the BTC devs... Really?

Gavin has had us on his mind lately - at the top of his recent blog post about 0.9 bitcoin software, he talks about explicitly supporting projects like ours with OP_RETURN: https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/?p=290

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BIP_0070

" This BIP describes a protocol for communication between a merchant and their customer, enabling both a better customer experience and better security against man-in-the-middle attacks on the payment process. "

imo my understanding he can pull the plug on MSC at will!   Cool

i'm convinced these trap game sites are on the take, I'd expect more community spirit out of you guys, i'm an idealist!  Roll Eyes
What convinces you? Because, I'm also an idealist and I'm all with the community and then some. But I also need to see verifiable proof, otherwise it's just all anecdotal or hearsay.

IANAL, but it's just not right to condemn an innocent man to death for a crime he did not commit. What if we're wrong? Proof is needed. That's the whole point of being provably fair.

These dice games are fair to players at least. Only investors could potentially have problems. The little article by some dude about injecting html or java partials just doesn't make sense even to me, although I'm usually a fail at understanding probabilities and math.

have you heard about ELRA ?  Cool hmmmm,,,
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: October 25, 2013, 01:53:48 PM
Basically it gives us an other way to encode Mastercoin data into the blockchain.

J.R.'s original approach was hiding the data in an Bitcoin address. The big downside to this method is that these addresses can never be spend since no private key exists. When using this method you are basically polluting the blockchain with data that can never be removed. (We call these transactions Class A)

The next solution we came up with was using multi-sig transactions. By supplying an public key that can be used when you want to spend the output we can now make sure every output we create is spendable. This stops the pollution problem. (We call these transactions Class B)

What I understand from OP_RETURN is that you can basically add 80bytes of arbitrary data to each transaction. This would give us a perfect way to encode our data in the most harmless way since these outputs are 'Provably Prune-able' and can safely be ignored when parsing the blockchain. (These transactions will most likely be Class C transactions)

I hope this explains it. If anybody spots an error let me know.

if and when MSC is considered a parasite to the blockchain the whole MSC protocol can be easily "pruned" per Gavin!   Cheesy

And the project can pay to host its own full archive node to make sure all transactions are kept.

is that what the Bitcoin foundation membership payoff was intended to do?  Roll Eyes

offering 300 @ 0.11 BTC
well this sooner or later will happen. Those >5K MSC holder dragons will be wakening one by one if they see the price is going up madly. Still I believe dacoin's possible offer is caused by his integrity to push back the things to sanity again!

51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC / LTC Does this mean LTC is also stronger than fiat? on: October 25, 2013, 01:36:11 PM
there are 300-400 trillion USD is existence (at the minimum)

~15 million LTC currently.

One is infinite the other is not.

quite simple logic would dictate finite crypto>fiat

edit sp

Your simple logic is flawed on the basis that the number of USD doesn't really effect its value.  That has more to do with political decisions.  You can devalue a fiat currency without effecting the number of notes in existence.

You also haven't answered my question so I'll simplify it.

By investing in LTC, am I gaining the benefit of both rises in BTC against Fiat, as well as rises of the value of  LTC against BTC?

I think the answer is yes (I even give you an answer!) - I'm just looking at confirmation, which would suggest that a drop is also magnified!

Yup we already knew the answer was yes. And of course the 300% gain in LTC yesterday is a good example of just how much leverage LTC affords BTC.  Much more difficult to see 300% in BTC in a day due to market factors.

Pouncer, maybe it's best to remove dacoinminster's offer until confirmed ?
It effects the prices only by being there!
Who cares?  If it really effects the prices this is good for us.  People who buy on misinformation cause price fluctuations upon which you can get on the other side.  This is a profit opportunity.  The goal is not price increase at all costs, but rather buying/selling on information which the others didn't process correctly.  Smiley  Free markets baby!!!
It can be good or bad, time will tell.
but the fact is this is seems like an attempt of market manipulation,
not exactly free market Smiley
