41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Turn Bitcoin Into Money? on: August 29, 2013, 04:03:54 AM
How exactly do you get USD using P2P exchanges?

Is there a service out there where you can transfer your Bitcoin to PayPal? What are some reputable web sites that will allow you to cash out your Bitcoins for money?

yes their are a few... google it?

you can try bitcoinary.com for a P2P excahge of  BTC/PPUSD

and their are many many other ways, generally people don't mind taking your bitcoin and giving you PPUSD because they have no chance to get a chargeback.

43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Will It Have The Same Fate As E-gold? on: August 29, 2013, 01:01:37 AM
E-Gold does not exist anymore because they didn't have the proper licenses and all the founders are now convicted felons. Bitcoin which seems to be very similar will it be effected from the mountain of US laws surrounding money transferring, etc? Is it safe for regular people and business to use Bitcoins in regular online retail stores? Will Bitcoins someday be illegal and can the US pass new laws that don't exist now and make them retroactive?

It's still confusing on how the Bitcoin network acknowledges a public key when the wallet was created offline and has never been connected to the internet.

^-- What he said.

The public key can be given out, and is what's referenced when sending money to the wallet. Basically it's like saying you put money into your savings account, #123456.

The private key is required to remove/transfer money out of the wallet. It's essentially the "credentials" required to access the money in that hypothetical savings account.

To fund your offline wallet, simply send money to its public address.

Also when I check my balance on Blockchain website how does it know my balance if my wallet has never been connected to the internet?

Which computer program do you use for this? Is there any easy to understand online tutorial that show you how to do this?

I think a regular computer software wallet that you have encrypted with PGP, truecrypt, etc is better than paper wallet.  Anyone with access can read the key on the paper wallet when cannot do with the software one.  You can back it up a few times including on the cloud so no significant risk of losing it.

Even with paper wallet in bank safety deposit box, what if bank gets bombed or meteor hits it or anything else.  I prefer encrypted software version but of course you need to remember the password for it and/or give it to a trusted friend or family member in case you have brain damage or perish off this earth.

Ok lets say I print this wallet how do I add funds to it and see the balance etc? It's a little confusing to me on how it works?

I guess paper wallets are a pretty secure way to store your coins for a long period. Have a look at https://www.bitaddress.org and https://liteaddress.org/

I'm not tech savvy and I need to know the least complicated way to get a Bitecoin and Litecoin wallet and how to store the currency for long periods of time. I want to have no risk of having it hacked and stolen.

How do most of you store your currency?

Same ways as cash and all other currencies?

Sell stuff, offer a service, day trading, surveys, etc.
