41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asus, Gigabyte or MSI cards? on: February 19, 2018, 10:30:38 PM
unfortunately evga is not really available here also zotac, so I'm kinda stuck with those 3 brands. But asus / msi prefered over gigabyte?
I have a few series of those 3 brands, R9 (290, 290x, 390, 390x, RX 400, RX500) and only 2 NVIDIA card (1060) if I referring to my personal experience. Yes, I vote Asus or MSI from those 3 brands (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI).

so would be left:

ASUS ROG-STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G GAMING:        655,67
ASUS DUAL-GTX1070-O8G:                               652,65
ASUS STRIX GEFORCE GTX 1070 8 GB                  651,90

MSI GEFORCE GTX 1080 8 GB                           717,15
MSI GTX 1070 TI ARMOR 8G                              661,12

Think I pass on 1080 and go either with MSI GTX 1070ti or the Asus Rog Strix 1070ti, what would you choose? Asus Dual got a lot of issues according to some forums and 1070ti > 1070. Think Asus card is slightly better overall than the msi 1070ti?

lol the course doesn't drop when a few small investors sell. I'ts when the big whales cashing out. They don't care if the price drops below the ico price since they got a heavy discount of 30-50% on their tokens in a privat sale and still make heavy profits. But anyway project is kinda red flag for me, they won't reach their 161% goal, can't believe how much money was invested in this ico.... Shocked

Hi

I'm currently running rx580 cards and would like to expand with a few nvidia cards. 1080ti is too expensive for me since I would like to add around 6 gpus. For RX cards it's an easy choice (sapphire nitro+) however I don't know which brand I should use for the nividia part? I can get my hands around those cards in my local store in a couple of weeks. Still expensive, but I don't believe we see any decent price drop in the next couple of months.

Power and efficiency is not a primary target (6,5 cents / kwh) it's rather a question which card does represent the best value for money regarding price and hashrate? Did read MSI taking a lot of power and also the Armor cooling (same model used by 1060)is not as good.. 1070ti also doesn't really outperform an 1070, but I think the Asus 1070ti would still be a good choice or better save some bugs and go with the msi 1070? Keen to read your opinion.

You shouldn't buy a gaming pc since it's overpowered and has a different use. CPU / Ram / SSD is really not expensive for a mining rig and the only part you would use from a gaming pc is the GPU / PSU. Also the board is probably not the right for it. So instead you could just buy this stuff new:

CPU: Intel Celeron G3900 (Socket 1151)
Ram: Crucial Value Series DDR4-2133
SSD: 120gb ssd of choice
Board: ASrock 81pro / MSI Z170A / Gigabyte GA-H110

GPU & PSU of your choice

Does anyone running 13 cards from the same brand on windows? Or is it still not possible and a mix of nivida / amd is better suited?
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: rx580 + riser psu connection on: February 16, 2018, 11:50:31 AM
Great thank you very much. So an adapter would be the best idea  in order to use only one cable per card / riser combi?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining still worth it for the average person? on: February 16, 2018, 11:17:02 AM
I would even consider mining even when it's not that profitable at the moment. If you believe longterm in cryptocurrencies and their growth it's sure worth it. Depends really how someone thinks in general about the future. If a coin is x5 in 2-3 years it will be worth the hassle, so buy the cards you can get your hand on :-)
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / rx580 + riser psu connection on: February 16, 2018, 10:35:01 AM
Hi Guys

Searched already this forum and also through the internet but it seems there are a lot of different opinions on this topic. I'm building my first mining rig with 6x Sapphire Nitro+ rx580 cards (I'll add more cards in the future but for now I'm running with 6. ) and got an issue with cable connection. I intended to connect 1 gpu and 1 riser with the same power cable, however it's not possible with the cable length (see attached img). So what is the best way to do it? Thought best way to do it is one cable per riser / gpu. I can connect those 6 cards with 6 cables (I only use the 8pin, not 6pin) but how to connect the risers? Should I buy more cables and then power 2x riser per cable separately? Or use a 6pin extension cable like this: /GY1Rpe]https://[Suspicious link removed]/GY1Rpe? Read a lot of different setups but anyway I'll have to buy more cables I guess since adapters shouldn't be used?.

And how to handle it when I'll run even more cards (switching corsair hx750 to 1200w then)?

Thanks for your advice

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: building big mining rigs on: February 12, 2018, 12:33:33 AM
there isn't any MB that can handle 60 gpu...
no but 13 (asrock h110 pro) or 19 (asus b250), so it makes a big difference if you got 1 rig or 3 with the same gpu power.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / building big mining rigs on: February 10, 2018, 03:11:23 PM
Hi there

It's just a theoretical question since I don't have the money to do it ;-) However if you would built bigger mining rigs (let's say 30 - 60 cards), is it better to run small systems with 6-8 cards (Asus Prime z270, MSI Z170A, Gigabyte GA-H110 etc) or 13 gpu systems with a ASrock H110 Pro / Asus B250? You're a probably more flexible with smaller rigs regarding cards and psu but need more time to maintain the system. So what would be overall better would you say?
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia 1060 vs 1070 vs 1080 vs 1080Ti on: February 10, 2018, 02:13:16 PM
if you would build a 8 - 13 gpu rig with nivida and low power consumption costs, would you go with the 1070 or 1080? Ti is out of budget, think it's not worth it when you work with so many cards. No card is in stock at all are overpriced, so not that much room. But if you would have to buy, 1070 or 1080 to go? And EVGA is still the best brand?
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 GPU Board on: February 05, 2018, 02:16:46 PM
I have a mixed 13 card RX 480/580 8GB rig on the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+. I started out with some RX 570 mixed in on the rig, but as I kept adding RX 580's  I moved the RX 570's to another rig. Most cards have different memory types and overclocking capabilities, so you need to find the best settings for each card. RX 570's and 4 GB cards don't overclock as well as the 8GB cards.
so it would be best go get my hand on as many as 580 8gb as possible? Meanhwile I could also mix it, but longterm move other cards to another rig / sell them?
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 GPU Board on: February 05, 2018, 01:17:36 PM
got my handy finally also on a ASrock H110 Pro and regarding GPU I would like to go with Sapphire Nitro+ Series but I can only get 3-4 cards of either 570 4gb/8gb 580 4gb/8gb. So is better to have 13 cards (longtime goal) from the exact same series or rather start with one series and mix it up? I assume undervoltage settings / bioflash / dual mining (8gb is better, right) is more complicated with mixed cards? Happy for your answer.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 580 Sapphire Pulse vs Nitro for Ethereum Mining on: February 05, 2018, 11:45:25 AM
But you wouldn't recommend mixing up gpus even when it's from the series, right? Because I could built up a mining rig with possibly 13 cards, however from each of those 4 sapphire nitro edition (570 with 4gb 8 gb / 580 with 4gb / 8gb) I could only get a piece of 13. So what to do? I would prefer 8gb versions for dual mining, is the handling and settings more overwhelming if you have mixed up 570 / 580 with 8gb of ram?
