41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance makes it to Tabtrader on: January 01, 2018, 01:00:54 PM
I am still wondering why bigger and older exchanges like coinexchange and others are yet to get listed on the tabtrader while a new comer like binance is there now. Does this mean that binance is better off than these exchanges?

Binance is fresh new to the field, so far they kept their major promises and their support responds, not like on some other exhcnages where you have to wait weeks to get your response.

I haven't used coinexchange but there might be other thing because binance have decent marketing strategy and because they want others to be aware of their existence and they are trying to puhs the boundaries. It supports many pairs that are give them nice volume + they support ETH trading and with their token you can even lower their fees for margin trading.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trade in bitcoins at your own risk, Indian Finance Ministry warns users on: January 01, 2018, 12:51:00 PM
Bitcoin is an asset its is better indian govt see bitcioin as commodity rather than some gambling

Well it is mostly seen as "speculative asset" this is what it is since it needs to form stable price. We have to go through this road of hell, many people are just entering to flip money which is why I think govs don't see it as a currency yet, but if everything goes well they should consider calling it a currency.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PNW] A Decentralized Cryptocurrency for Seattle & Portland on: December 31, 2017, 09:34:28 AM
Why have you made new crypto currency/token instead of trying to push an existing one? What different do you offer instead of it being just another altcoin in the sea of others? Seems like this is done only for pure profit without any bigger reason in my opinion.

Good luck with your intentions but they will require a lot of work for sure.
44  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How come transactions are not lost in the Blockchain network -semi newbie inside on: December 30, 2017, 01:39:15 PM

A bit of a misunderstanding on my part, transaction are actually chosen BEFORE mining a block. I thought that that didn't really matter, but apparently it does.

See this answer, https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/7330/whats-the-process-of-creating-a-block-on-the-blockchain

Yes they choose transactions, this is how some bitcoin accelerators work that some pool offers in order for you to get your transactions confirmed faster/included into blocks. Such as free one from viabtc
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not sure if i understood ICO on: December 30, 2017, 01:31:48 PM
Morning everybody,
I would like to participate in a ICO since it seems pretty profitable but I'm not sure if i got that right.
Is it right that an ICO is a cheap sale of Tokens. The goal is that these Tokens increase in value. Right?
But what exactly is the difference between coins and tokens. Are tokens just a project-specific coin. Do I have to treat them in any ohter way or is it just anoter name for the same thing?
Cheers

TOKEN - mainly used for "coins" that are build on top of another blockchain such as Ethereum or Waves as example, popular platform is Ethereum with ERC20 tokens

COIN - an different coin with its own blockchain.

GOAL : Is to raise money for people/company/startup to make their idea a reality and since they want to "help investors" they are trying to make sure that their tokens raise in value to benefit the investors.

Tokens are easier to create thats why many people are creating those. Tokens/coins from ICOs can raise up in value and that is why most people are buying in they are hoping price will raise but this IS NOT GUARANTEE that they will raise. You will have to chose project that have good idea and good memebrs who will implement that idea, personally I don't like to invest in ICOs , because you may find yourself investing in one that might fail or that is just pure scam. I am not saying don't invest, if you understand and know what you are doing its great you can flip money and earn huge in terms of % raise.

That being said many ICOs are tokens that are build on Ethereum network and are developing some smart contracts on there, but this doesn't needs to be the case.

If you have successfully imported wallet.dat into your litecoin wallet and theres no address in there that is showing your old one, I guess you have wrong wallet.dat . Are you sure that this is the right backup?
47  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchanges and network fees on: December 29, 2017, 04:26:01 PM
$24.85 fee for 100 eur worth of BTC from Coinbase to Bittrex... Not gonna happen

It's actually not real problem on coinbase end, Bitcoin network is taking huge overload atm because many people are sending transactions which as a result has higher fees than ordinary. Coinbase could split that they pay some part of fee and users other but who lieks losing money.

If you are entering crypto currency just to make pure profit I will advise you to buy then Ethereum for instance as some exchanges are trading with ETH pairs which is faster and more convenient in terms of fees. You will need to wait some time before some measures are activated on bitcoin that should solve this issue - it is worked on but development is slow and takes time since when you are dealing with money you want to do it right.

AdolfinWolf pretty answered your question there, you might want to check Binance for trading, I do believe that they have lower fee like 0.1% per trade + they have all pairs with ETH which can be good to switch to specially if you are transferring your money frequently until we get Ligthing Network adoption next year.

Fudge... I just wrote a program wrapper for Bittrex API.  Well I'll stick with them for the moment and see if my trader bot makes any gains.  0.25% does not sound like a lot but 0.1% will mean a few more bucks saved every trade...

As I understood, with binance you have to have some holdings in BNB for you to have that discount and this 50% will turn less in coming years + have in mind that binance will slowly be buying those tokens to reduce the supply (because with BNB they have been founded through an ICO)

Networks, ie. Bittrex charge a fee on each trade.  They also charge a withdrawal fee (and maybe a deposit fee?).

Are network fees also charged on a trade?  For example, I trade Ether for XRP and on Bittrex I pay their fee of 0.25%.  Does the trade also subtract a network/blockchain fee the same as what you would pay sending bitcoin from one address to another?

Every time I search 'exchange' and 'network fee' I just find pages detailing the exchange fees.

How does an exchange work? ie.  is there an intermediate currency like USDT?  Does it go Ether --> USDT --> XRP?

50  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any knowledge or precautions before you enter trading? on: December 27, 2017, 10:16:01 AM
One major thing: don't let emotions to control you while trading. By examining human behaviour you can sometimes conclude good trades.

It can be similar to gambling since most of the time you are like putting bets on some shitcoins to go up in value - if we talk about altcoin trading, not many of them have real purpose or usage other than being put on market for us to play with.

In beginning you would have had a node and mined  "through" your node as exit point so to say. But because of more people  can't compete with each other you have mining pools by joining the pool you can nowadays simply mine without having to be a node - because mining pool have central node so to say to which miners connect and submit their findings.
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounty payment help on: December 25, 2017, 10:41:24 PM
How the bounties campaign will pay me? Because on my exchanges it is the rule that if you receive other coin on (example- ethereum address) you’ll get no funds or something like that. Do I understand this correctly? What should i do?
Don't use exchange deposit address to receive bounty campaign payments. You need to use wallet, which supports ERC20 tokens.
If you will send tokens to exchange Ethereum deposit address, it's most likely that you won't receive anything, it's only for Ethereum deposits. And it's no guarantee that exchange which you are using will add these new tokens to their market.

Although you could use exchanges wallet if they accept certain token/alt but for security measures I agree that it is advisable to use your own address for persons safety. Any ethereum address should work as far as I am aware of not only ERC20, there are also above all tokens on waves and similar platforms. ERC20 wallet is needed to handle the specific token if desired user wants to spend those coins now, but if he creates paper wallet that for instance should be fine as well.
Easiest thing you could do is simply go to https://myetherwallet.com/ and from that wallet you have access to any token on ethereum network. But do note that it is not safest option out there when it comes to security because if you don't care much about your device being clean it could easily pick some malware that's just waiting for you to make a move.

I am not familiar with those bounties campaigns which means that I am unable to provide valid answer, but I did post my overview of things some basics about tokens on Ethereum network and platforms like ethereum.
