41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 【ANN】【RYO】【Cryptonight-heavy】 RyoCurrency - Privacy without compromise on: June 03, 2018, 08:31:24 PM
I don't really know the story about Sumokoin and fireice, but if they will come back to the original CN, I will switch to RYO if fireice and psychocrypt are really involved in this "new" coin.
Ryo stays cryptonote-heavy and asic-proof. Fireice_uk and psychocrypt are really involved in this coin as you may see in ANN text.

So I guess I could mine with my actual SUMO adress on https://pool.ryo-currency.com ?

Correct.

So this is an asic friendly coin huh? I would like to know why did the team make that decision because I'm curious if its fair or not for new adopters. Besides I don't know if newcomers can get their hands to asic hardware.

No, no...that would be Sumokoin : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1905086.0

You'll have to ask of in that thread why the move back to ASICs.

RYO is staying on Cryptonight-Heavy, ASIC resistance is the game!

so how does this work?

Sumokoin rebranding into RYO?

or Sumokoin and RYO are now different?

Sumokoin and RYO are different.  Sumokoin is NOT rebranding to RYO any longer, Sumokoin will hard forking at block height #137500 off of the existing network and away from CN-Heavy to return to ASIC friendly CN.

The network known as Sumokoin will become the RYO network at block height# 137500, as RYO is staying on CN-Heavy.  We will soon be releasing an updated wallet with added replay protection (starting at block height #137510) for our community, so best bet is to not be making any moves in that ~40 min window before we get to active replay protection.

It's great that the "hidden premine" was found now and not only after it got unlocked...

Agreed.

Hi Dev,

I am updating Sumokoin wallet block chain and it gets stuck at Block 116525 and will not update beyond that.
(I am using Sumokoin_Wallet-v0.0.2-x86-64 )

If I switch to the latest wallet https://github.com/sumoprojects/SumoGUIWallet/releases/download/v0.0.4/Sumokoin_GUI_Wallet-v0.0.4-w64.zip
and I do not wish to start downloading the whole block chain from scratch...
what can I do? is there a program to download the RAW blcokchain that will update the wallet? and what command to use?

Thank you.

There's now the lite wallet if you want to avoid download the blockchain entirely:
         https://github.com/sumoprojects/SumoLITEWallet/releases

Otherwise the dev team tries to keep an uncorrupted RAW version of the blockchain available for direct download here:
         http://blockchain.sumokoin.org/blockchain.raw

If you continue to struggle with issue, check out the wiki, which has a nice troubleshooting section updated by the community :

If all else fails, pop into Telegram and ask for assistance there:

There's no guarantee at all that they won't dump it...most especially when an unavoidable factor called "human nature" is in play.

There's no guarantee of anything in life friend.   Kiss

The way the premine wallets are allocated though the real honey pot isn't unlocking until July 2020, if you want to factor in human nature, the incentive to outright "dump" any of the first three wallets is mitigated by the outsized Dev wallet.  It'd be foolish to tank the coin before then.

As I understand it the 1st wallet is already mostly earmarked for expansion of dev team (Fireice_uk), along with his CN 64-bit elliptic curve library optimizations, incurred expenses (I'm sure there was some costs to resolve DMCA issues), and to potentially get listed on a larger high liquidity exchange.

maybe now implement his GREAT work with DB optimization to SUMO fork?

Someone else had the same inquiry in the Reddit thread announcing his addition to the team, and the man himself commented that it is indeed on the todo list.
