41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER TUBE first look :) IKEA style miner first time ever on: August 30, 2014, 12:04:51 AM
Looks like they are all daisy chained to the controller into one port?

Can you break the chain into 2 or three chains? That would protect from a bad board knocking
you totally out.

Just a thought.

as an old network dude, I hate bus topology (especially daisy chain). Star is your friend.

it is not like this.
i had one tube offline at chain (unplugged due to power loss) and rest is working
one cutoff dont slice chain, just signals pass the dead tube Smiley

dont forget to reset/power on/off controller after adding/powering on tubes

One of the other people in the GB posted that his would not start until bad board's were removed
thus my assumption.

Hope you don't have a feline  Grin

Im sure it would love to play with all them wires !

I didn't check availability on S3's, saw they were being sold in forums for $349 (probably late delivery as you said) or .6? used.

Hope those things hold up better than my cube did.
44  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #2 on: August 29, 2014, 11:28:05 PM
okay I have it assembled.

I am using a 5 volt dlink 1mp wallwart   so it works fine.  the controller has flex on volts.   5 to 12? at 1 amp seems to be good.

I am using an evga 1300 psu 4 pcie cables attached
dip switches:

  set 1
then 2
then 3
then 4

I typed in
192.168.0.254:8000/FlashMega and I am at this spot. flashings seems slow so far 10 minutes.

Any time estimates for flashing?

FYI - on OS X, I always use firefox or chrome to flash. Safari sometimes just will not do it correctly. I flash lots of stuff from routers, port servers, print servers, voip etc.
If the interface does not look right or behave as expected I fire up parallels to do it from WinXP, Win7 or Linux. Some equipment will just not take being spoon fed except
from windows and never over wireless.
45  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #2 on: August 29, 2014, 11:08:52 PM
Hi everyone.

I am having an issue with this purchase and I am hoping someone here can help me. I came across the ad for this buy and decided I wanted to purchase one of the tubes. I did not have the required BTC in my wallet so I sold some GH/s from CEX.io and sent it to the address listed in the ad. I posted my tx ID on this forum and purchased and emailed the shipping labels for the tube. I received an email back from Canary saying everything was fine and all I needed to do was sign the message and send it to him. I had no idea what Canary was talking about and was informed that I could do it from my wallet. When I told Canary that it did not come from my wallet but from CEX.io I was told the ONLY option was to sign the message or the BTC would be returned to the sending address. I immediately emailed CEX support and explained the situation to them and I was told that the receiving address at CEX was static but the sending address was not and if the payment was returned I would lose it.

I then notified Canary about this and was told it wasn't true and that the ONLY option was to sign the message or he would return the BTC to the sending address. I once again emailed CEX support and my ticket was elevated to the supervisor and they responded with the same information and an offer to contact Canary and confirm the transaction came from my account. This was rejected by Canary. Canary posted a message to the admin of the GASH.io forum stating the problem and after some confusion the admin at GHASH told Canary the same thing CEX had. The admin also offered to confirm the transaction came from my wallet but once again Canary rejected this.

Canary states that I can not prove the funds came from my account. I have asked Canary if anyone else has claimed this transaction ID and to this point he have refused to answer the question. I also asked why the confirmation from CEX was not adequate and again no response from Canary. Canary also will not answer any questions about this transaction. Canary will only state that the ONLY option is to sign the message, which is not possible or return the BTC to the sending address which means I will lose it.

I sent the BTC to the listed address in good faith and have offered to show that the funds came from my account on CEX. I am at a loss at what to do now. If anyone has any ideas I would very much appreciate hearing them.

Thank you,

Stephen Scott

My .02, ask Canary to pick a 4 digit number in a PM. Send him that 4 digit number from the same online wallet. i.e.  Number picked is 4501, send .004501.
That should prove you own the source. Most wallets won't let you send less than a certain amount so thats why I suggest only .00xxxx instead of .0000xxxx.
you could also try .000xxxx. again every wallet has its limits.

Beware of the scammer named 9mm_btc.  Be safe!

That is why you list your address in the first post and add that it is the only payment address for these items.
and that any payments addresses sent in a PM are suspect.
47  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER TUBE first look :) IKEA style miner first time ever on: August 29, 2014, 02:25:05 PM
Looks like the S3 is a better deal as its price is dropping. Buy 2. Lower power consumption, higher hash (2 units). Dosnt need any
controller that further needs a proxy to fix it's flawed communications.

Plus I don't like that the boards are serial daisy chained. bad board takes out others behind it.

Not to mention crappy controller or issue of 'pool" fixing solution go'es south and you take out up to 4 units.

each S3 is stand alone direct to a pool.

AM should stick to chips and let others do the miner engineering. They proved that with the lemon cube.

48  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER TUBE first look :) IKEA style miner first time ever on: August 29, 2014, 02:21:05 PM
So to not use ghash.io you have to buy another piece of hardware?

if you don't already have something else to run it on.

You would think they would just fix their crappy firmware!!

thank you bit minter for giving me another addiction.    Grin

I take no responsibility for this Tongue

Doc I am getting an Asicminer Tube tomorrow.  Any thoughts on getting it to work on Bitminter if I don't have a ras pi or Linux machine?

Same as any pool but connect to stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333

I hope those don't need a proxy, like older ASICminer machines.

apparently it does as they botched the firmware and it (AM tube) will only connect to ghash as they are returning bad data appended and gnash ignore's.
bfgminer was supposed to work, but some are having problems with that as well.
50  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Prospero Black Arrow 4 X-1s total 460 Gh/s Asic SHA-256 bitcoin miners on: August 28, 2014, 07:14:10 PM
Your not going to get anywhere near that.

S1's that are 180ghs are going for $75 and under.

I know how much you paid as I almost bought one back in December. But after reading all the stuff on the forums
I made a rule, no pre-orders.

If they had shipped the things in January when they promised. It would have paid for its self.

Best bet is flea bay. Here you not going to anything over .12 btc for it if that.

Good Luck
51  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #2 on: August 27, 2014, 09:36:33 PM
I would have loved for this thing to come in at 850ghs, solid, at good power ratings.
and easy to mine on pools at that price.

Like the ant miner S1, I have serval that are rock solid. One ran for 60+ days and only restarted due to power failure. (out for hours, drained the UPS)
they do Suck power though. (will pencil mod shortly).  but they are self contained with nicely done firmware that worked from the get go.

Pulled it out of the box, didn't have to take it apart for loose screws or misaligned boards. or restart it every few days.

The S3 is quickly closing in on buy 2 to get same performance, better power specs.
52  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #1 on: August 27, 2014, 09:18:46 PM
It came in 119 boxes with no instructions, if that says anything.

Seems these are quite the disaster so far...not too impressed (with AM not Canary).

I predicted diaster! AM did fine on the usb sticks, semi on the blades, fell down on the cubes, now its DIY but go find missing parts else where.

Again, I'm not faulting canary, just FC/AM
the only disaster is that ASICMiner's reshipper AND HK DHL station chocked.  they got swamped with boxes from fc and caused some serious delays.
the other part, it being a DIY kit, is not a disaster because it's a DIY kit.  this is just an opinion and all the chatter about it is noise.  some people care, some don't.  but everyone cares about shipping disasters.  it takes 15-20 mins to put it together but requires some tools, digits dexterity and patience.

DIY dosnt bother me, built my own 3d printer from plans not a kit.  But AM half baked equipment does. So now it won't mine without someone else's software helping out
due to their bad firmware and it is using more power than they said. This is what I'm talking about.
53  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 40 x AntMiner S1's for $100 each (PRICE LOWERED) on: August 26, 2014, 05:56:10 PM
Price is lowered, again.

How about 2for. It is two for tuesday ?

2 for $100 is about the right price with current difficulty
54  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 40 x AntMiner S1's for $100 each (PRICE LOWERED) on: August 26, 2014, 05:54:14 PM
180gh only gets about 0.00379637BTC 24/hours

I remember when a lowly old asicminer stick beat that (barely a year ago)

But 50 days with free power and no difficulty adjustment and you will ROI!

Sorry OP, I'm afraid you may have narrowly missed the timing to sell these for a reasonable price. They do make great space heaters for winter though.

I wonder about the space heating though. Considering these things are made in china where there exists no safety
regs, who knows what these things are giving off from outgassing ??

But there is a better way to build a hackintosh

Do tell... I'm weeks away from buying another iMac.

PM if you dont want to post OT in this thread.

All of the major hardware mags tried to build a hackintosh to compare and could not match the price. and even when they
came close, they only did so by leaving out several features. Not to mention none could do it at the size.

About 4 years ago I built 4 hack's. All of them are still in service and have been updated as much as they need to be (kids computers so they are not totally current). I built them for around $500 each and at the time a comparable Pro was in the $2500-$3500 range.

I'm sure that current MacPro's are great machines but I'm not throwing that kind of money at a computer.

Buy what ever floats your boat!

We need to know that Smiley

Lithuania on earth

Add it to your top post. So people know right away about shipping. I also suggest in your
Topic add (EU) so it attracts buyers in your part of the globe  Grin

$125 was so 4 weeks ago.

at 23,8 no ROI unless free power even at $75

Those prices include shipping. Smiley

I bought 3 s1's 4 weeks ago for $130 each with power supply and shipping.

Nooo I put them side by side and there is no speed difference, not in booting, not in running intensive CADS - its hype. Its the exact same product unless you look at the numbers.

Then you better not look at the stats done by real testers that show the truth.
