41  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Psychic Service "0.03BTC for a Psychic Reading" on: November 16, 2013, 06:53:03 AM
Can you recover lost wallet passwords? Grin
I predict that "T" "u" "8" "x" "F" "2" are contained in your wallet password. For 10BTC I will predict another 5.

These letters/numbers are in my wallet password as well...  Huh

Stay safe. Just a reminder.

Your thread should be stickied in the newbies section.
44  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying 10k+ worth of BTC on: November 15, 2013, 05:25:19 AM
Get in contact with someone who has a lot of BTC to sell, best chances are people who are into mining.

Find a suitable escrow.

Then trade outside of the exchange without fees.

Are you looking to buy 10k coins or coins worth 10k USD?

Lmfao i wish i was buying 10k coins. Sorry i changed the title of the thread to make it clear. I plan on buying approx 10-20k. Do you have any traders in mind? I figured there would be some people here. With a transaction like this I would have to either meet in person or use escrow.

I'd be very careful, at least with an exchange you're semi safe. With an exchange you can then do the 10k in small amounts which will obviously limit your exposure.
45  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do You Think The Price of Bitcoins Will Go Down To $5.00? on: November 15, 2013, 05:12:01 AM
Gawd I hope not, at least not until I sell mine off.

Ahah, yes +1.

Unless it becomes even more unmainstream; I don't know how that's possible. Maybe never ever again.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin dentist somewhat near Seattle - any takers yet? on: November 15, 2013, 04:37:27 AM
Nice! I hope these guys do well, and that accepting Bitcoins catches on with other healthcare providers.

Funny enough it's people like this that drive it mainstream. Awesome find btw.
47  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not Happy with BTC-e on: November 15, 2013, 04:22:23 AM
Well I'm a newbie and I asked 2 of my friends which wallet should I get.
One of them recommended me Coinbase and the other said BTC-E. Not sure which one should I go for. This thread kind of puts me off BTC-e.

I'm sorry for the OP but BTC-E being the exchange it is must take certain precautions when dealing with a money wire. OP it is not uncommon for people to wait 3 + weeks for a money wire to clear. Understandably 3 weeks in this game is not fair, things can change quickly. Maybe try another method to credit your account.
48  Economy / Services / Re: SatoshiBet is looking for a nodejs developer on: November 14, 2013, 10:36:19 PM
I think you need to make this appealing to devs. Provide a ballpark figure and offer the developer a % so they care.

Most NodeJS devs will be veterans of the industry based on the positioning of the language.
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase allows instant buy of 1btc for new users! on: November 14, 2013, 03:35:53 AM
Thanks zeetu!  Grin

I finally was able to buy some btc from Coinbase with the instant buy. The last several tries, I've been unsuccessful due to "high-risk".

I believe the high risk flag is almost unfairly used, this has happened to myself on a under of occasions when bitcoin fluctuation are in fact not that bad. But who knows, clearly companies such as coinbase need to protect themselves.
50  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help, Please? on: November 14, 2013, 03:29:30 AM
There is no mystery here. Blockchain.info stores information in the browser, this should be apparent when your browser prompts you that the site is about to, "store data locally".

As others have said however for 5BTC I'd use an offline wallet.
51  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent bitcoins via BlockChain and still hasn't had any confirmations.. on: November 14, 2013, 03:18:39 AM
Also, I've noticed lately that transactions with no fee take longer regardless of size or age.

^ This.
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC crash poll on: November 14, 2013, 01:35:51 AM
The buy support behind it at the moment is redic. There will always be a dip, how much is anyone's guess however I highly highly doubt we will see $100 again, maybe $250/300.
53  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: PLAYTIN Wallet on: November 14, 2013, 01:27:23 AM

PLAYTIN - anonymous mixing web wallet - off-chain transactions

Over the last months we have noticed an increased amount of accounts that seems to be using our casino wallets as some sort of anonymous web wallet with a built-in mixer. Maybe it played a role that we don't ask for an email address and don't record IP addresses. Or that one can open an account in less that 2 seconds.

That's nice Wink. I understand primarily your service is not an anonymous wallet / mixer but after the recent closure of other online wallets can you offer some sort of proof for longevity?
54  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are newbies doing with Bitcoin? on: November 12, 2013, 05:54:44 AM
How long have you owned bitcoins?
1 Year +

How much have you been spending your bitcoins?
$6500 - $8000 AUD

Do you currently, or plan to, start bitcoin related businesses or accept them in your existing businesses in the near future?
I'm advocating the use of Bitcoins for a number of non for profit organizations which I'm currently contracted by. Donation forms.

55  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: advice for earnest BTC site buying/selling on: November 12, 2013, 05:40:11 AM
I everyone,

I'm looking for a responsible site to send money to ! I previously posted to know how much time it takes from scratch to make a complete transaction,
but I also want to know which are responsible enough.

Some ask Id card scans, some others only moneygram and ask trust and confidence from you.

What do you think ?

Honestly take the time and use a well known established service such as bitstamp, https://www.bitstamp.net.

58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IS PHOENIX COIN DEAD? on: November 11, 2013, 04:51:47 AM
It seems things can go wrong rather quickly when there is only one dev, http://www.coindesk.com/phenixcoin-ashes-developer-goes-awol.

I'd have a look at - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=305584.0. Ghostlander is attempting a... rebirth.
59  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: it is certainly true that bitcoin is unsafe, but the alternatives are unsafer on: November 11, 2013, 12:08:59 AM
Clearly having an offline wallet is the way to go. However using established services such as http://blockchain.info/wallet to send small amount of money online when buying products seems like an acceptable risk; especially if they are small amounts each time.

I don't see why alternative currencies would be unsafer from a technical stand point. Possibly a totally different story from an investment view point Wink.
60  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alternative to Bitmit? on: November 10, 2013, 11:58:20 PM
Bitmit did not seem to restricted the goods on sale. On a number of occasions I saw an array of illegal items. Hopefully it was not something more serious; their close seems to be a slow and sadly undirected.
