Does anyone know anything about the upcomming Bulletproof release? It hasn't been validated just yet, but I heard from a friend that there may be a fee reduction of 84%? Would be great!
Bulletproofs are under development but there is no specific release scheduled yet. The technology is very new and the math/cryptography team is still coming up with improvements, scrutinizing it for weaknesses, etc. There is a plan for a full formal review before it goes live. It does indeed reduce transaction size (and therefore fees) by about 80%. To add, for anyone interested in Bulletproofs & fees, see: https://getmonero.org/2017/12/11/A-note-on-fees.htmlThank you dEBRUYNE, this was well worth the read. Do you know if the testnet with Bulletproofs is far off as mentioned here?

Bought dollars for 200 just in case, but suddenly grow up. The coin is quite old, but it has proven itself well. Does anyone know such coins on this algorithm?
There's Sumokoin that also uses a variation on CryptoNight, and a bunch of other coins that didn't really take off.

Did you read news about LTC XMR possible merge? LTC user base and Monero anonymity. Need to buy more monero.
Atomic swaps between the two would certainly be interesting. I do respect Litecoin a fair bit, it serves its purpose well and has a large community behind it. You guys smoked too much of fluffypony's home grown I think, Charlie Lee must be selling dime bags from fluffy's troll stash, to all the noobies who bought his LTC exit dump. I heard gmax, satoshilite & fluffy were starting a band too, Nirvana covers, "Nerdvana" After what Charlie Lee did with LTC, I don't think we should let him or LTC cling to XMR. LTC is a good coin, a fine coin for its own purpose but that it. Nothing more. Hmm, perhaps you're right on that one to be honest. It was nice in theory, anyway!

By the way, LTC has only ever made me money if I've kept it to trade. You know, for coins like XMR.

Only for the amount of time that it takes you to conduct your trades and no longer.
It's an unnecessary risk, throughout crypto's history exchanges have gone under and taken everything with them. Is that a risk you want to take?

Monero is a badass coin. I'll tell you that. The anonymity element is going to really create some challenges for governments trying to shut things down.
Just wait until we have bulletproofs! This will even further extend Monero's dominance as being the ultimate privacy coin.

Monero (XMR) is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that is not based on Bitcoin's code.
Monero aims to be a fungible and untraceable digital medium of exchange. It intrinsically has a higher degree of privacy than Bitcoin or any of its various forks. It was launched on April 18, 2014 (preannounced and no premine/ICO/etc.).
The official core team members are (in no particular order) - Riccardo "fluffypony" Spagni, luigi1111, NoodleDoodle, smooth, tacotime, Franciso "ArticMine" Cabaņas, othe
Wow, i think monero is good coin, I will invest to monero
You are right Monero has some interesting features I also agreed with you in future this will be very big thing with privacy related features. But when anybody compare it with bitcoin than he put himself into wrong direction I don't think it has any competition with that because it has it's own direction. Bitcoin and Monero are like chalk and cheese. Worlds apart.

Anyone else been picking up more XMR on the dips?
No yet but I, like cAPSLOCK am always wrong. Maybe if we keep at it enough we'll end up being right? Now there's a thought...

Hopefully other pools start allowing payouts in currencies other than BTC
Which? I hope ahaspool will consider this and add some more coins (LTC!) Blockmunch is currently offering guaranteed payments in Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin and Dogecoin. If you read over their thread on here it appears there have been some lengthy delays (~5 days) in some of those payouts to miners mind you. But I'll be keeping an eye on them for sure and if it stabilises and they start to allow payouts in other currencies (XMR!) as well I'll make the jump on one of my rigs. Another alternative in the future is potentially going to be Nicehash, according to their website: ** We are already actively working on implementing alternative crypto-currencies for payments. This will help smaller miners to be paid more regularly. I'm not an overly big fan of Nicehash though given the hack and they have a lot to do to regain my trust. But yeah if pools want to remain competitive this is what they're up against.

Servers could do with some beefing up; been getting a lot of "cannot connect" errors. Hopefully other pools start allowing payouts in currencies other than BTC, I'll gladly move at this point. Just too unpredictable.

The Monero community has been looking forward to hardware wallet integration for some time now. A community member is currently working on a self-developed project. Furthermore, Ledger has confirmed they will add XMR support. Up until now, there was no real deadline for finalizing this integration. The developer working on it is advancing significantly. In fact, the integration may be completed sooner than people assume.
This is what I'm really looking forward to. Picked up a couple of new Ledgers over the holidays, can't wait to be able to stick my XMR on there.
