41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: May 07, 2017, 01:41:54 PM
I think there might be a bug with the siafunds claiming:

This was the starting wallet balance:

Wallet status:
Encrypted, Unlocked
Confirmed Balance:   17.25 KS
Unconfirmed Delta:  +0 H
Exact:               17245896019595188793410814418 H
Siafunds:            203 SF
Siafund Claims:      16375621065323953466987357103 H

I then sent 1 siafund to myself and when it was unconfirmed:
4f5b6a6827243a5651f3924aa6fc17845fc10943f0d007dbf811f793d540d01c

Wallet status:
Encrypted, Unlocked
Confirmed Balance:   17.25 KS
Unconfirmed Delta:  -10 SC
Exact:               17245896019595188793410814418 H
Siafunds:            203 SF
Siafund Claims:      16375621065323953466987357103 H

when it was confirmed, the SC balance went down and the siafund claims went to 0?

Wallet status:
Encrypted, Unlocked
Confirmed Balance:   17.24 KS
Unconfirmed Delta:  +0 H
Exact:               17235896019595188793410814418 H
Siafunds:            203 SF
Siafund Claims:      0 H

The amount of SC in the claims seemed quite low and getting negative certainly seems like there is some sort of math overflow going on.

using older version of wallet, not sure if that should matter or not. If anybody knows how much SC each siafund should be earning per month, I am curious to know. Hopefully it isnt negative

42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: May 05, 2017, 03:41:23 PM
to Devs,
During the swap period, devs made statement that swapped BTCD will remain in 1 address and won't do anything which means burnt.
If swapped(burnt) BTCD is re-used by any means, Isn't it double profiting? (illegal?)
It could be violating the terms which made the BTCD/Komodo swap possible.
(creating millions worth of new coin generates enormous tax problems which Komodo devs solved by
swapping BTCD and ICO)
and to hear that swapped BTCD could be re-used again makes me worry because
it jeopardizes both Komodo holders and remaining BTCD holders.

any comment on this concern devs?

Yes, and that statement holds. All BTCD will be kept in that one public address for the duration of the swap.

https://www.blockexperts.com/btcd/address/RXL3YXG2ceaB6C5hfJcN4fvmLH2C34knhA

I have noticed there haven't been any incoming transfers to this address since April the 4th.

What happened to the 50k+ BTCD from the last batch?

Is James gonna gamble with them on Polo?
initially the funds are deposited into an individual deposit address
then manually it is swept into the main address.
so the funds that are not swept into the main address are still in the individual addresses

We don't sell or move the swapped BTCD. It just takes time for them to go to that address. I believe there's some min amount that has to be swapped before it bundles them all into a single transaction and sends to that final address.

Does the Agama app require connections outside the United States to operate correctly?

As far as I know no. Whether you are US resident or no you can enjoy the same GUI functionality as others. However, the recently discovered bug could be due to connectivity issues, namely a fair amount of connections from non-US IPS could trigger some kind of inconsistency in the code and result in what was referred to as bug but there's still the possibility it was a deliberate mistake.

Yeah, Agama Wallet is a permissionless app. You don't have to ask anyone's persmission to use it, just like you don't have to ask anyones permission to send/receive bitcoins. Just do it! Smiley

I understand that but, we have a firewall at work that blocks all connections (in or out) outside the US for security reasons. Will it operate properly with ONLY US connections?

Since the majority of notary nodes are outside the US, there would at a minimum be a performance slowdown issue if all non-US traffic is simply blocked. That seems an extreme measure...

It might be the cause of some of the non-reproducible errors we are seeing reported. Intentionally blocking the majority of your connections to a decentralized network is not the best policy, especially if connections are allowed and only data transfers are blocked. In that case, the timeout mechanisms will be invoked. meaning much slowness

the only way to see how degraded the performance is (if at all) with such configurations is to try it and see

I will be doing the monthly payout soon.

The next payout after this one will be the first Friday of June

@jl777

Which feature/part of Komodo (not SuperNET) would you say has been mostly priced wrong by the Market (currently)?  Personally, I'm having difficulty deciding which one gets 1st Place.

if your timeframe is immediate, then the market is always right.

generally speaking I think the probability of completion is being assumed to be a lot lower than it should be and that leads to much lower pricing across the board.

If the point of view is that until it is done, it has little to no chance of ever being completed, then until it is completed it is undervalued. That is why investing in projects with real development and being patient is relatively easy way to make profits.

Keep in mind that even a stopped clock is usually right twice a day.

komodo smart contract their own independent development it? What is the difference between an etherum and an intelligent contract?
yes it is totally independent development.

Our approach is to build on top of existing infrastructure, so no custom new language, but any language that can create a compiled output.

This does allow a lot more flexibility and computing resources to implement things, so complex things like decentralized poker can be created. pangea will be a reference dapp, smart chain.

Of course, a lot more things can go wrong if to allow arbitrary executable code. But that is another reason for having loosely coupled assetchains. Whatever code is needed for a dapp would be put into its own chain. That way, only people who care about that dapp even runs that chain and this controls bloat in a significant way in addition to limiting any damage should a dapp smart chain go DAO (DOA).

Interaction with the ecosystem will be via DEX

There wouldnt be any limit to the number of smart chains, but practically speaking you would run out of system resources or eventually network ports at some point, so people will have to limit the smart chains they run to a few hundred at a time.

Also, with the number of nodes securing a specific smart chain possibly being small, it is important that there is a mechanism like dPoW to secure such otherwise weak chains.

Until recently UNITY trading volumes have been at the low end of the poloniex spectrum, so that is likely the reason it is being delisted. But I did not receive any notice and was blindsided by this too. With dividends being planned for this summer, not being listed on poloniex solves the issue of dividends to exchange held UNITY. Of course, losing the liquid poloniex market is not any good news.

However, I have no control over what poloniex does. All I can do is to continue completing the SuperNET roadmap.

Current plan is to migrate the NXT asset to the SUPERNET assetchain this summer and then commence monthly dividends. Right now I am concentrating on getting the native DEX completed as that is a key component to many other parts of SuperNET.

A native DEX implemented in the Agama wallet would enable trading of SUPERNET along with all the other supported coins.

What kind of dividends you will divide for investors? KMD or other useless assets to trade on your ISDN (I Still DEX Nothing) platform?
The simple solution is that you just admit to all investors "I am always cheating all investors!". That's all.
The plan was to convert the revenues in different coins into KMD and dividend out as KMD. Not sure why you consider KMD useless. Is a top 40 coin with almost 300,000 blocks useless? If so, I think there will be a lot of surprised people who are holding coins with less marketcap, volume and track record as KMD

One possibility is to dividend out in BTC, but with the current fee market, doing that would eat up a large percentage of the dividend. I wonder if you consider BTC useless too?
I don't mean KMD as an asset as your reading comprehension. TBH, I'm afraid that you will create another asset like REVs for Supernet investors.
To conclude, what is exactly your plan on this issue? We all will monitor that.
I dont understand what "issue" you are asking about.

I have described the plan to issue dividends in KMD after the NXT SuperNET asset is migrated to the SUPERNET assetchain this summer. with polo delisting UNITY, all the SuperNET will be in the form of NXT asset prior to this migration, simplifying the process

What is the problem to add UNITY to an other market?
AFAIK the Bittrex is good enought for UNITY.
Dev? Could you do it?
bittrex doesnt list dividend issuing coins

HEAT inwallet trading volumes of $30K USD per day shows that an in-wallet market will have sufficient volumes.

Wow, "buy wall" at 25.

Post the poll.
Get me commitments from large stakeholders to vote for liquidation. Until then any poll is just a waste of time.

Just use the buy wall, that is the price that liquidation will likely achieve. If to liquidate you dont get very good prices.

And if you Komodo people think this infection won't spread to Komodo and poison your investment - just watch carefully what happens over the next weeks.

SuperNET cannot even become reality without Komodo.  Komodo can exist with or without SuperNET.  Projects DO NOT get abandoned solely over getting delisted.

So...  considering that it sounds like you'll be placing UNITY Asks in the near future, maybe you should stop with the self-sabotage.

But it's none of my business!   Smiley

The assets of Unity could - and should - be sold to unwind Unity now that it is no longer a viable market traded product.

There is no need for supernet to become a "reality". Three years of hype with nothing to show speaks it all.
Considering the years of development that has been done and for the USD price of SuperNET close to the ICO price, it seems that a lot has been achieved without burning up a lot of assets.

Maybe you consider only exchange listings as reality. If that is the case, then it seems you dont understand SuperNET

This is not "all you can do".  You can offer to follow a community decision on whether or not to sell off the Unity assets and refund Unity investors.
Sure, if 80% of SuperNET holders vote to liquidate, I would honor that. All it would take is 650,000+ SuperNET asset stake to vote for liquidation.

Let me know when you have gathered half the required amount in commitments to vote for liquidation and I can start an official poll for this.

Well maybe JL reads this thread once in awhile - doesn't seem like he can be bothered to post in his Supernet thread after Unity got delisted - a lot of people very concerned, and rightly so. Calling them trolls does not address the underlying problem.

Supernet seems to be completely dead in the water, and is now being delisted on its only exchange. The right thing to do at this point would be to wind down the Supernet project - sell off holdings - and return money to investors. And if you Komodo people think this infection won't spread to Komodo and poison your investment - just watch carefully what happens over the next weeks.

JL has polled people before to check on direction - he should do it now. My guess is an overwhelming number of people would ask him to unwind Supernet and return their money at this point. It would be the single best thing he could do at this juncture - both for Unity and Komodo's sake.

And for all the people getting ready to post that this is in the wrong thread -

1) He is not answering anybody in the Unity thread

2) The two projects are intertwined

3) That he is not addressing this is a giant read flag for Komodo investors

4) This will poison Komodo if it is not dealt with ethically.

I read this thread everyday. I answered the question raised in the Unity thread the same day it was asked.

Not sure what you are talking about read (red) flags and dealing with it ethically. Poloniex decided to delist UNITY, that is out of our control and any issues about delisting should be addressed to them.

Oh please, "not sure what you are talking about". It's pretty clear what I am talking about. You are sitting on a massive pile of redeemable assets that could - and should - be ethically cashed in now that UNITY is DOA.

Do the right thing.

I dare you to poll the members of the UNITY thread and follow their wishes.

To me, liquidating the SuperNET organization over a polo-delisting seems a bit like an overreaction.

However, I put up a buywall for anybody that wants to get liquidation price so you are free to liquidate on polo before May 2 or you can wait for in-wallet native DEX. UNITY is just the trading symbol on polo and while that wont exist, the underlying SuperNET asset will continue on for the foreseeable future.

Last Friday, zcash disclosed a potential DOS attack vector that could remotely crash nodes. There has not been any attack and the patch to fix it was already released in the 1.8.0-1 release.

I have merged that patch, along with rebasing to the 1.8.0 release and this is now in the master branch. The notary nodes have updated and if you are running a mining pool or exchange it is a good idea to update over the coming days. As the bug causes a crash and it is not a consensus issue, if an attack materialized your node will crash, but it wont be able to do any damage other than that.

Granted it is an annoying thing, but no sense to disrupt normal operations for just this update.

So, update at your convenience. The next GUI update will have the 1.8.0-1 komodod in it.

Again, it is not a consensus issue, but a local node remote crash possibility. Since the notary nodes and some mining pools are already updated, you could just wait until your node crashes to update.

With all the attention given to this level of bug, it seems the zcash codebase is getting quite solid.

yes

you can check on the block explorers to make sure it is on the blockchain

Agama allows access to coins in the blockchain.

There are only a couple percent left to payout from the ICO investors. Next payout in a month, unless by 2 weeks from now we get over 50 payout requests. There is about 15% BTCD left to convert (assuming none lost!), but 6%+ is happily trading on polo. Basically the vast vast majority of KMD is now out in the wild.
