41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [POW] [XHV] Haven Protocol - untraceable payments x stable value storage on: April 30, 2018, 09:32:01 AM
Yes, you can use static diff, but if the pool is configured correctly, you don't need to. And many pools don't support static diff.

Static diff can be easily calculated:

HR x TT = staic diff

HR = your rig's hashrate (for ex. I have an average of 2839 H/s in CN-heavy; I use 2800 for calculation).
TT = target share time in seconds (I understand that this is the time that an accepted share occures). Depending on coin (blocktime, network hashrate, etc) it varries. For CN, 30sec TT is recommanded.

This calculator can be found at this address:
https://haven.miner.rocks/#static_diff_calc

So as my example goes, with a rig that has 2800 H/s and a TT of 30s, you have 2800*30=84000 static diff. If you want more accepted shares, but at lower diff, lower the time. Anyway, setting a lower time than recommanded, meaning setting a lower static diff, will not increase your earnings; 2 shares at diff 25000 equals 1 share at diff 50000 as coin reward. Sending more shares with lower diff will just chocke the pool server. This technique is used by evil miners when they attack a pool/coin. (remember the recent Bitmain's ASIC attack against monero and sumo pools before the fork).

I saw a pool that listed Loki as a CN-heavy. What POW will Loki use? CN or CN-heavy? When will mining start? I have my rig ready to go  Grin

Please add in the pools list:

https://haven.hashvault.pro

It's my favorite pool for cryptonights, has a grate monitoring app, but has very low hashrate for the moment.
Maybe if more are joining we will make it no.1 for Haven too.

@xiphon
Your fairpool.xyz is so crappy.
1.You're still accepting shares for sumo with the old cryptonight pow.
2.You report wrong pool hashrates (maybe because of the wrong pow).
3.the vardiff is very very wrong. It increases at a very very slow rate. I have a rig with 2840h/s that can mine at diff 84000 - this is the stable diff after 2 days of mining at hashvault.pro. Your pool starts at diff 5000 and after 2 days, it increased my diff to only 35000. WTF? Can't you see the huge amount of low diff shares that are bombarding your pool? Instead of receiving 3 shares per min at diff 84000, you receive 20 at diff 35000. How is this productive?
I tryed your pool for a week, but after seeing so many problems, I switched to hashvault.pro. Ask them for help, because you have much to learn in seting up and managing a mining pool.

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The baikal's Cryptonight ASIC SCAM, and why you shouldn't buy any on: April 01, 2018, 04:52:16 PM
Bitmain, and maybe Baikal and the other happy bunch, have ASICs for all the major cryptos, including ethashes and equihashes. Do not be surprised when they will announce them.

You said:
"The optimal parameter for the threads and blocks option in config.txt depend on your GPU. For all GPU's with a compute capability >=2.0 and <6.0 there is a restriction of the amount of RAM that can be used for the mining algorithm. The maximum RAM that can be used must be less than 2GB (e.g. GTX TITAN) or 1GB (e.g. GTX 750-TI). The amount of RAM used for mining can be changed with "threads" : T, "blocks : B".
    T = threads used per block
    B = CUDA blocks started (should be a multiple of the multiprocessors M on the GPU)
For the 2GB limit the equations must be full filled: T * B * 2 <= 1900 and B mod M == 0. The value 1900 is used because there is a little data overhead for administration. The GTX Titan X has 24 multiprocessors M, this means a valid and good starting configuration is "threads" : 16, "blocks : 48" and full fill all restrictions 16 * 48 * 2 = 1536 and 48 mod 24 = 0.
The memory limit for NVIDIA Pascal GPUs is 16 GiB if the newest CUDA driver is used."

I don't realy undestand from where is 2 and 1900 in that formula.

Please, explain to me, because I'm a newbie, what is the exact formula for T and B, for this card:
nVidia GTX 1060 3GB, compute cap. 6.1, SMX 9, for Windows 10 x64bit, 8GB RAM, CUDA 9.
My rig has 6 of them.
Thanks!

What those 2 LEDs on PCIe riser 007c means?
One is green and one is red. What is the normal state, when all functions well? They must stay lit? What if the red one is not lit?
I didn't get a manual from the chinese manufacturer, so if anyone knows for sure what are those for...
Thanks!

ROUND 1   : 5000 x 2000 RNB= 10M (50%)
....
for every ETH sent above the 0.0005 you will be awarded RNB at rate of 2500 RNB per ETH"

LOL! Your math is great! So... who sends 0.0005 ETH gets 2000 RNB. But who sends 1 + 0.0005 ETH gets 2500 + 2000 shitty RNB. LOL!
And people fall for this shit!

Anyway, at current network hashrate, if Baikal starts mining with 100 x 20KH ASICS, they can undo the hard fork easy.
how?

Google "51% attack"... And, I think, history records something similar involving Bitmain, Bitcoin Cash and segwit fork...

It's just that I make 5000 EDL per day from mining, and I'm not the hodler type. A guy earlier said he wants to buy before exchange listing and I want quick returns from my investment in the rig. And the exchanges are in a continuous "listing in progress..." state. So... there's no scam involved.

Just a quick question...
How can a pool have 120% of the network hashing power?

Hashvault pro has 1,36 MH/s, but the entire network has 1,16 MH/s.
51% attack get lost. Here comes the 120% attack!!!  Cheesy

OK. I saw the deamon's console status. There it says "...not mining..."
I'll put my av on hold; I remember now that ETN has a simillar GUI wallet with miner alerts. Never used it, just downloaded once.

Problem: I started by creating new wallet; I didn't choose a password, just clicked next. Now, when I try to choose one, I only have the option "change password". If I click ENTER without a password, it says "Wrong password"... but I didn't set up a password. If I choose to "show keys", same problem... it asks for a password, but not a blank one. I will make a new wallet with a password, but I just wanted to point this out.

@edollar.cash

Why my antivirus detects CoinMiner.GH in the Edollar GUI wallet .exe?
I've installed many wallets from different coins, but never had a virus allert from them.
Why a wallet has a miner build in it? It should be just a simple wallet, to keep your coins, not a miner.
How can I be assured that your wallet dosen't mine in the background for you, using my pc?

PLEASE! REMOVE THE MINER FROM GUI WALLET! ASAP!
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: ZCLASSIC / ZCL Vardiff/Static Diff enabled: https://zcl.suprnova.cc on: February 25, 2018, 07:10:40 PM
I get it, but... Here's what happened: I mined for a day with no diff set; the pool showed me after some hours that I have a diff of 1225. I closed miner, I set diff to d=1225 in password, than restarted miner for one more day. Now the pool shows me diff 998. Huh The rig isn't changed, I have the same hashrate of around 1720. But I did't count the shares between the 2 sesions.
Anyway, I don't know why the pool sets a bigger diff when I put "pass x", and a smaller diff, when I put "pass d=xxx" (where xxx is the diff from the previous session, set by the pool).

OK. The previous post was to long... Let's try a short one...
At zcl.suprnova.cc, what's the most valuable difficulty of a share, from a miner? The bigger number or the smaller one? Is 998 diff rewarded greater than 1225 diff? Or viceversa?
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] dstm's ZCash / Equihash Nvidia Miner v0.6 (Linux / Windows) on: February 23, 2018, 06:26:23 AM
//ZM's vs EWBF//

I know about the difficulty adjustments, but...
1. How the pool knows how good is the miner to find solutions? Isn't the hashrate the indicator? So... if the hashrate increseas with 6%, from 1700 to 1800sol/s, there should be a diff adjustement of 6%, so let's say an accepted share drop from 5/min to 4/min. So how can you explain the accepted shares drop from 6 to 2, between the 2 miners?
2. At start, zcash-flypool begines at 2000 diff. If I got this corectly, it's just the starting difficulty, is not a fix difficulty. So the both miners start at the same diff, so the accepted shares must be greater for ZM with the bigger hashrate at least in the first minute, untill new work is received and the diff readjusted. But guess what... EWBF still beats ZM even at the same diff. I see 4-5 accepteds with EWBF, but only 1 or none with ZM in the first minute. Huh
3.The "more rejecteds" and "more crashes" problems still remains for ZM.
4.With the dev fee on, in ZM (EWBF fee off) difficulty will loose the optimal value with each pool switch (dev fee means ZM switches to dev's pool to mine for him from time to time). So flypool will start readjusting the difficulty after each dev fee, like a new start. How is this more productive?

These are questions from a noob (me). I really want to understand this mining better, not to have online disputes. I hope I'm not missunderstood.
Thanks!
