41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AML Compliance for Crypto Exchanges! on: April 12, 2019, 08:44:30 PM
Binance has partnered with blockchain analytics CipherTrace to help with on-chain securities and help define a world-class AML compliance program. There is a rising demand for blockchain security as global expansion takes place and compliance is needed more than ever.

https://www.theblockcrypto.com/tiny/binance-teams-up-with-ciphertrace-to-up-the-exchanges-compliance-procedures/

What the binance does by stepping in to increase confidence in its exchange helps crypto in general
I think binance will be one of the reasons for adoption if it continues in this way.

Quote
the time to buy is when there's blood in the streets
Baron Rothschild

43  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are You Done Buying Cryptocoins? I AM. on: April 11, 2019, 09:53:57 PM
Let's face facts, many of us have been in Crypto for years now.

Aside from the very few instances where you need to send crytocoins and transact immediately.

How many of you are just done buying crypto as an investment?

I mean you purchased enough of multiple coins, that if any hit your intended price target for them in 5 to 10 years,
you be richer than you ever dreamed.

So are you

1. Done buying crypto and just waiting for your ship to come in.
2. Buying forever with no intent to ever sell.
3. Still not purchased enough coins for your ship to come in.
4. Crypto Day Trader buy and sell everyday for small gains
added
5. Buying when extra money around, spending coins when finding stuff to buy via BTC and getting a better price, having a stash that I won't sell till I really feel the need to get out and one that I might sell earlier to cover some big buy (change of house, new car, etc etc).
6. Long Trader: Continuously buying while the prices are calm and just waiting to sell high.

I am in the 1 category, literally no reason to buy any more, don't even care about new cryptos.
If it reaches my price target , I'll be rich, if not, I won't be spending any more money on it.
So Which are You?

I am a mixture of these choices
I have finished buying now because there is no money right now but I will buy when the necessary funds are available
I trade some time in the currencies I have
I will be buying for storage soon when the money is available.

45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New hate wave? on: April 10, 2019, 10:42:44 PM
For anyone who's interested, this is the article that mentions this:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/european-central-bank-exec-calls-bitcoin-the-evil-spawn-of-the-financial-crisis

Next time, maybe add it to your post, OP.

Also interesting, from the article:

Quote
The ECB official’s stance is at odds with remarks from International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Christine Lagarde just yesterday. Speaking at the the Singapore Fintech Festival Nov. 14, Lagarde urged the international community to “consider” endorsing central bank-issued digital currencies (CBDC), arguing they “could satisfy public policy goals,” specifically “financial inclusion.”

A good addition
Lagarde have a great deal of weight and may have a positive impact on the future in terms of bitcoin consideration by bank officials
In general, the banks war on bitcoin  continues and will not end with a knockout
There will be a convergence point between the two sides that will allow bitcoin  to be adopted internationally and for reasonable gains for banks as well.

49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please DON'T pay any taxes on your crypto! on: April 10, 2019, 09:24:13 PM
More and more countries, like Chile or India, are trying to tax their citizen for the crypto they hold.

Please don't pay taxes on your coins.
You really don't need it, unless you are totally ignorant.

It's simple: they cannot prove you have the coins on your PC/phone , so you don't have nothing to pay taxes on, as far as they know.
It's just their attempt to trick the ignorants that don't know about that Wink

Even if they look for your wallet on your PC/phone ,
your wallet data is not accessible to them because it's  encrypted with password  ( uhm.... have you set the password protection on your wallet... right? Wink ).

Of course you are not going to give them the wallet password.

Oh.. they tell you that you withdrawn the coins from an exchange,  so that's the proof you have the coins?
Just say that it was an hacker that stole your coins from the exchange,  not you.
You got robbed, and you don't have to pay taxes on the money that was stolen from you, right?

P.S. for the geeks: use Veracrypt Wink

It's hard to say that publicly, man
If taxes are imposed by law, we must be complied with
Unless you want to discredit btc trade

If taxes are imposed by state on btc trade, it means that the state recognizes this trade and that is positive
The percentage of taxes and how to prepare its law in terms of technical
it must be subject to community dialogue
We do not want to repeat Japan's experience.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS THIS TRUE ABOUT CRAIG WRIGHT ? on: April 09, 2019, 10:40:23 PM
Over the years and also currently , the world is curious about knowing the true identity of the original inventor of Bitcoin (SATOSHI NAKAMOTO). A lot of people have appeared to claim the fame as being Satoshi  but yet it didn’t work out. I cane across this tweet showing a short video where CRAIG WRIGHT was shown to be the bitcoin inventor. This seem confusing because the names dosent Match up and we all know CRAIG as CRAIG and not as SATOSHI.

Check this tweet and the news : https://twitter.com/xentagz/status/1114864121026097153?s=21

Could this really be true ?

Kindly share your opinion about this.

Let's be more practical
What good is it if we know who Satoshi is?
Let it be he or anyone else, no use
 it is just curiosity.

For those who are wondering who are those 19 people as mentioned by OP, visit this link https://www.forbes.com/richest-in-cryptocurrency/#5f2622a61d49
As bitbunnny says, there might be richer people in phrases of crypto but they do not want to be known by the world. So maybe forbes should be add the word "revealed" or "known" on their article about this richest people.

Because crypto is illegal in some countries
There is a high probability that there will be more richest individuals in crypto, than they do not want to disclose their identities.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin the God of crypto........ on: April 08, 2019, 11:09:04 PM
Bitcoin is the god of all the crypto.
At the end whatever is coin you have finally it will convert into the bitcoin.
Without it nothing is possible.
what you think about it ?

I prefer the word of the king
BTC is the origin of crypto and is dominant now and for years to come
No competitor threatens her throne though currencies such as ETH are considered strong and have a good future.

55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Dominance and Bitcoin Meme on: April 07, 2019, 11:54:38 PM
~
While I agree with you, I wouldn't call it meaningless though. I think people just take the marketcap statistic a lot less seriously, as it's definitely quite inaccurate. I think it's a decent statistic to use when ranking probably only the top 20 coins/tokens when determining which coins/tokens are more "valuable" in terms of market value.

but it IS meaningless. specially when you are talking about value of a cryptocurrency and want to use it for ranking. value of a coin should not be determined by how much supply it has, no matter how high or low it is in some arbitrary ranking. what you should use is their utilities and a lot of other factors such as decentralization, number of nodes, number of transactions, number of merchants,...

and while we are at it we shouldn't even rank coins that are not even similar. we should categorize them and then rank them. for example centralized coins should not be in the same ranking as decentralized coins. or tokens (like ETH, Waves,...) should not be in the same category as currencies (bitcoin, litecoin, IOTA,...)

Good addition
But may be difficult to do
CMC provides simplified statistics based on one factor only, which is the number of the marketcap for each currency
The factors you mentioned are more accurate but they need to be effortlessly put into the equation.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could be used to pay for Bills, load and for travel in the Philippines on: April 07, 2019, 11:24:08 PM
But I wouldn't use Bitcoin to pay for anything that fiat can pay with unless it's very necessary, if I were you. Bitcoin is a provably scarce resource, don't waste it. HODL. Cool

But you will certainly change your mind when the price of the currency rises Smiley
We need to spread its idea and generalize its use as a currency because it speeds up adoption.
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “Green Cryptocurrencies” - they way forward? on: April 07, 2019, 11:16:17 PM
Though currently struggling for survival, if we’re talking about the future, could cryptocurrencies have a potential to trigger an eco friendly finance revolution?

How do you find out that crypto is struggling to survive?
the crypto is gaining supporters continuously and adoption is increasing

Regarding alternative energy
There are numerous and reliable projects developed solutions to energy problems as a whole and mining in particular ,will come into force soon.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Need to start Mentioning Price in Satoshis on: April 06, 2019, 11:04:09 PM
we need to start mentioning price in SAT, we need to remove USD the sinking currency from the equation

I think  the reason why people prefer using the amount of bitcoin in dollar rather than how much satoshi is that because it is honestly difficult to read fractions of bitcoin since it is composed of decimals. It is more convenient to say the value in dollar than in satoshi.

it is actually because of volatility of bitcoin more than anything else. for example if you say something is worth 1000 satoshi today, tomorrow it may be worth 800 satoshi and the next day it can be 1200 satoshi. and that is not desirable.
additionally when you say something is worth $1 it is easier to understand how much it is worth but if i say something is worth 1000 satoshi you have to check bitcoin price first then convert that to USD and then understand if 1000 is too much or too little.

You are true
I think these ambitions are currently exaggerated
We are still at the beginning of crypto and we can not believe that Fiat can be dispensed with now
The stability required for BTC will inevitably come but after the stages of labor and maturity.
59  Other / Off-topic / Re: One thing I am Glad for in 2018 on: April 06, 2019, 10:57:42 PM
cryptocurrency growth is inevitable in the future and I think that it is extremely important to understand so as not to lose your money

knowing that cryptocurrency is going to grow in the future does not save you from losing your money! there still are a lot of shitcoins being created out there which are promising newbies big returns and bright futures while they pump and dump the coin to only take the newbies' money./

The generalization can not be absolute
Already there are a lot of worthless currencies
But there are also promising projects that will have a good future ز
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you like to become a Certified Bitcoin Professional? on: April 05, 2019, 11:40:12 PM
Hi, I'd like to become a "Certified Bitcoin Professional":
https://cryptoconsortium.org/certifications/CBP

But I've been putting it off, so I thought I'd try to find someone to take it with me. The idea is to study for the exam together (the idea is *not* to take the exam together; just study for it). I can put in 1 to 2 hours a day.

Looks like there are 33 topics so it'll take 1 to 2 months to study (just a rough estimate).

Anyone up for this?

I do not think the certificate (in this way) will be of value
I prefer experience through learning, friction, mistake and right, I think this way is the most effective in the field of CRYPTO

Note .. I am not against accredited certificates, but must be from prestigious universities or institutes.
