42  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAW Miners- Gridseed Blades on: May 02, 2014, 05:34:32 PM
If I order 3 of the blades that are hosted for a year, when will they start hashing? I know they say 05/02/2014.. Will they start then?

Hi,

They will start mid-day tomorrow! Thanks

Isn't mid-day 12:00PM?  The middle of the day, as 12 hours past the 24 hour point?  Not trying to be an ass but when i read mid-day that means 12:00PM.  And I was assuming the Eastern Standard Time (EST), that's the time zone GAW is in....

Damn, why can't these companies get their stuff together.  I was ready to buy a rig now I question whether it is worth the wait and/or hassle if this is not legit.  I guess I will have to wait and see the specs on the S2.

If these companies got their shit together like say Starbucks, then everyone would want one. Bitcoin mining is a risky business, that's why some people enjoy it...

[edit] must admit I have my eye on one of these - will use paypal if I do which is easier to charge-back than even a credit card...

is it just me?  I unable to paid with PayPay.  I only see credit card paymentn option
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: February 23, 2014, 05:16:59 PM
I finaly received the activation code aobut 1 and 1/2 hours later.  Entered the code and it's working.  No $5.00 worth of bitcoin.  Guess I am not one of the first 1,000 user.

Seriously, why in the world would KNC want their own wallet program? How does it benefit them?

I could think of several venues:

1. the will make this 'wallet' a default for planB
2. they will get money from those who will send ads to people with bitcoin
3. they want to help snooping by those who think they are entitled to it (what do we know about this company anyway?)
4. they will charge you a little extra for bitcoin transfers
5. they want to become a bitcoin bank with possible P2P lending. afterall, Kinemaar background is in banking IT.

Why would anyone use online, internet wallets, smart phone wallets, or keeping their BTC's online is asking for trouble.  If you do, you are at their (exchanges') dictatorship.  Look at Mtgox, BTC-E or any online wallet/exchanges.    Can't withdrawal BTC or cash means your BTC is worthless.  I keep a majority (of my BTC's) on my QT and transfer a few (into exchanges) just before I sell; in and out.

The app doesn't work on my USA phone.  I keep getting an error code, "Error sending SMS please try again (500)".  I rated the app a 1 star on the Play Store.

Edited to add.  I finaly received the activation code aobut 1 and 1/2 hours later.  Entered the code and it's working.  No $5.00 worth of bitcoin.  Guess I am not one of the first 1,000 user.

Got my US dollar $13,200.20 Neptune refunded today, 2014-02-19.  I originally initialed my refund request on 2014-02-10.  I asked for US dollar refund as I paid via bank wire and did not Know at the time that bitcoin BTC refund was available.  The wire amount I received is $18.00 less (i guess bank fee?).  It took a total of 9 days from initiation to actually have the money hit my bank account.  I provide the following (US) bank information when requesting refund:

My Name: XXX XXX
Bank name: XXX Bank,N.A.
Bank Account #: XXXXXXXXX
Bank address: XXX XXX Street, New York, NY 10013, USA
Citibank SWIFT Code: CITI US 33
Bank Routing #: XXXXXXXXX

Still have a CA Neptune that I paid about 11 BTC.  I will wait and see on this one.  As to the US dollar refund, I will buy more BTC if it goes below $500.00

Refunded.  Wire charges amount to $18.  So, Thursday refunds don't arrive on Tuesday but Wednesdays.

Congratulations on getting your refund.

How did you go about contacting them for a refund? I've emailed them several days ago and received no response. My email asked what information they specifically need to process a refund, giving my order numbers in advance. Previously I'd receive a response within a day or two, but not now.

I'm not really keen on the idea of spending hours dialing their phone number and spending up to hundreds of dollars in phone expense and the time lost - time is money after all.

Thanks in advance.
Contact: Customer Service <customerservice@kncminer.com>

Can't seem to locate the email describing what is needed.  Obviously the order number to be refunded, name and address of the bank, the bank routing number, the name of the person holding the account, the account number and the bank's SWIFT code (for US banks).

Feeling good about the refund but I know as soon as guys start getting their Neptunes I'll be kicking myself.

Hi Bitmain & shshi,

I have sent in the dead blade and it been delivered on 2014-01-31 to the Colorado address for over a week now.  As of today, 2014-02-07,I still have not received anything back.  Do you think you can send me a tracking number or the status of the RMA?  I have lost 3 weeks of hashing time now.

Hi shshi,

I sent in a RMA blade per Bitmain's instruction.  It showed as being delivered.  When can I expect to receive the replacement? thanks

Hi, I sent in the dead blade.  my tracking number shows that it was delivered.  Do you know how long the process take?  Will I receive a ship tracking number once it's shipped out from RMA?  thanks

Hi sushi,
do you receive the returning board?
please help to follow up this case.
thanks!

Hi Billsonl,

Please ship back the DOA units, and we will replace you a new one after we receiving it.

I managed to get one of the blade working.  So, there is only 1 dead blade.  Do i just sent back the dead blade?  thanks

Yes, just the dead one.
48  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 03, 2014, 08:07:04 PM
is there anyone that solo mines using the antminer s1??? if so can you share how?

Is it usually very difficult to get a reply from sushi in regards to a faulty board?
I bought from Bitmain directly and he told me to contact Sushi during the CNY.
Even sushi himself send me an email:

Quote
While Bitmain is off due to the Chinese New Year, if you need any support issues, Please contact me and I will assist you with your need!

SUSHI

it's very difficult/ almost impossible to get any kind of support from either Bitmain or sushi.  On 2014-01-24 I received a Dead on Arrival Antminer S1.  Contacted Bitmain and he forwarded my request to sushi on 2014-01-26. sushi never replied.  On 2014-01-31, the bad board was delivered to the RMA address in the USA per Bitmain's insturctions.  On 2014-02-01 I contacted Bitmain about the status.  Again he forwarded my PM to Shushi.  As of today, nothing, no status, no board.  Almost 2 weeks of lost mining time and no board...Just my expericence

Has anyone RMA an AntMiner S1?  How long does the process take?  I sent in a RMA per BitMain's PM direction on 2014-01-26 to an address in the US (the address turns out to be an UPS store).  There is no RMA # given or any kind of tracking number on BitMain's website to track the status.

This is my current setup: 3 Wi-Fi Ants powered up by one 1400W Thermaltake
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqwpn5Jns-A

how did you set up wifi without an antenna?

Actually I get pretty decent signal without antennas. They aren't necessary in most situations.

Can you share how you were able to set up wifi...i tried playing with it and couldn't get it to work and had to use RJ-45 cables.  It would be nice if i can use wifi so it's more mobile.  thanks for your help.

I made direct LAN connections first (laptop -> Ant), then Network -> WWAN -> Scan -> Connect -> set wifi password etc. -> save and apply -> and then go to interfaces -> find WWAN (name of the wifi network) and click Connect

thanks for your assistance, i was able to set up WiFi thru Ethernet connections.  Once WiFi is set up, i rebooted and remove RJ-45 cable.  Now it's hashing via WiFi.  I can see that it's hashing at the pool.  But I have one minor issue, I can not access the web interface using the WiFi ip address, it loads up for "LuCI - Lua Configuration Interface" a second but then get the "can not connect" error message.
53  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 28, 2014, 03:18:16 AM
i just received my 5th one and i cant log on to it.  192.168.1.99 is the ip, but i ipscan it and nothing comes up. my other miners are 2.xxx, is the 1.99 the problem?

Is your subnet .1 or .2?

im not sure what you mean but
IP Address: 192.168.2.254
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

this is what i have in

antminer ip 192.168.1.99

all my other ants are 192.168.2.xxx

You need to bring the new Ant 192.168.1.99   to   your network  192.168.2.x.    Set a laptop/PC/tablet  on  192.168.1.188  and configure the new Ant 192.168.1.99   and change the address to whatever you have reserved for it  on the 192.168.2.x  network.  Don't forget the IP default gateway is  192.168.2.1  and  DNS 8.8.8.8.  Subnet mask should still be the same on both subnets  255.255.255.0, so no change there.

ok thanks for your help.  I will give it another try this weekend when i have some time.  I tried following the instructions in the first page but it was saying that i need to buy some kind of wifi thing in Best Buy..

those pics indicate months of use, and they did say units are new and only seen days of use.  we should all support the member as right is right.  hopefully Bitmain takes care of the issure, which i think they will but I also thing they might not if people are so indifferent.  I dont want a used machine, and no one wants a heavily used machine which might die too soon...

What version number do you have written on this AntMiner? I have several (from 3 different revisions) and all of them have been pristine clean.

While the guy has a legitimate concern with getting used equipment, it seems that bitmain has reached out to the person. They have done more than most asic companies has done.

I am ok with getting used equipment as long as it works and it's it specially stated so.  I paid for a new unit.  However,  it's a dead unit.   I removed the controller to the other blade and get half a machine working.   Bitmain pm me earlier with a rma address that is located in my USA.  will update the rma process
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 26, 2014, 06:51:31 PM
This doesn't make sense to me.  How do you explain that the AntMiner S1's I received were prefilled with Bitmain's own pool addresses on all 3 fields?

Respectfully, what alternative method do you recommend they use to test their products ?

It makes perfect sense to me, and I don't see what the problem is.
Have you seen some of the photos I posted on the previously page?   Your opinion might change.
59  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 26, 2014, 04:57:26 PM
For those who missed the explanation on the dust,

Dust on some S1 miners delivered recently:

Our testing farm is not dust free, so more or less our miner will have dust on it. They are all new miners. But as the testing farm is under construction, and lots of dust during the construction, so a miner which has been tested for only 24 hours there, will have dust on it. The dust does not mean it has been mined for months before we ship it out.  The construction has almost finished.

The PCB were produced in batch, and the same batch of PCB will be enough for 1 or 2 month production. The aging test usually lasts for 24 hours, some of them will stay in the testing farm for about 3~5 days.

The warranty is always the  90 days.

This doesn't make sense to me.  How do you explain that the AntMiner S1's I received were prefilled with Bitmain's own pool addresses on all 3 fields?

Come on Bitmain,

I received a Dead on Arrival (DOA) unit.  I relocated the controller board to the other blade and managed to get one of the blade working now.  I need a replacement/RMA for the other dead blade.  When I took off the fan and realized that i received an old, used, dust filled Antminer S1 worst than my vacuum cleaner.  I have sent you an e-mail and I see that you forwarded my e-mail to Sushi for support but so far I received no replay back.   I am losing mining time here.  Please help.

When I order, your website did not mention anything about  "old, used, or previously owned" miners, it never did say new either.  Guess it's live and learn on my part.

Here are some photos showing that's it's filled with dust.
