41  Economy / Speculation / Re: I always buy at the wrong time.... on: November 20, 2013, 09:19:02 AM
Rule #1) Never buy all at once.
Rule #2) Never sell all at once.
Rule #3) Never sell all your coins.

Rule #4) Never invest more than you can afford to lose
42  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HUGE market sell order happening right now.. on: November 20, 2013, 04:50:05 AM
Always fascinating to watch in (near-)real-time.
43  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: November 20, 2013, 01:42:21 AM

It's hard to have a discussion in this thread because the only vocal people make everyone look like assholes when they have to be constantly corrected.

+1 Rodyland for doing this job. I haven't seen you around but welcome you to come around more often.

Thanks for the kind words.  I've been in ActM since the initial IPO for a small (for me) sum (never invest more than you can afford to lose), and try to follow the thread (despite the low SNR).  I'm hoping that this particular bitcoin investment will work out better than my others (avalon batch 3, avalon chips, and some btcinvest shares).  :/

This bubble and bust may have scared an awful lot of people off.

I don't think those words ("bubble" and "bust") mean what you think it means.

When something is trading at an all time high, and then keeps making new all time highs, and then falls back to the price it was a few days ago (which was on the way up an all time high) then it's not a bust of a bubble.  It's a necessary price correction.
45  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] BTCINVEST - Low risk investment fund | Market cap: 2000+ BTC on: November 19, 2013, 09:53:25 PM
All your coins are gone, that's where you fit.

Start with that assumption, and come to terms with it.  If you end up getting any of your investment back, consider yourself lucky.  That's my plan.

I hope that you followed the advice that is constantly offered here and elsewhere - never invest more than you can afford to lose.
46  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinJar - Australia's first VC-backed Bitcoin startup on: November 18, 2013, 09:11:09 AM
I'm worried if we're going to see the same thing here as with bitconica scam.

I am getting very nervous i wish i never signed up and deposited $400

I have already written it down as a loss.

Nab to Nab since friday, no idea why its still not in my account.

If not in soon i will personally fly down to melbourne to visit their office to find out where is my money (no threat)

sort it out guys this is ridiculous.

NAB to NAB deposit made Thursday, credited Sunday.  I would expect you would see yours tonight or tomorrow.  Have you raised a support ticket - I did, and did eventually get a response.
47  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinJar - Australia's first VC-backed Bitcoin startup on: November 15, 2013, 12:42:28 AM
I had a fast-track deposit made on Monday that wasn't processed until overnight. Cost me a bit as I missed a dip in the buy price. I got an email from them saying:

Quote
We had some issues with NAB's system recently and the bank wasn't able to report intraday payments to us in real-time due to the huge volume we have been doing lately. CoinJar is processing over $2 million per month and we are constantly looking for more scalable ways to handle our banking.

Bummer that.  It's been 24 hours now and the "fast track" deposit is still nowhere to be seen Sad
48  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinJar - Australia's first VC-backed Bitcoin startup on: November 14, 2013, 10:08:19 PM
What's going on with CoinJar's service and support?  Support queries raised yesterday still not answered, deposits that should be same-day not in my account yet.

Can I get some support love from the team please?
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are BTC related businesses that dont exist yet but will be big in X years on: November 11, 2013, 09:06:34 PM
I think there is an opening for bitcoin merchant services but more from a bricks-and-mortar/POS type perspective (bitcoin->fiat conversion optional), with zero-confirmation transaction acceptance and double-spend protection/insurance.  The number of people who still say "bitcoin will never work in bricks-and-mortar stores because you have to wait 10 minutes or an hour" makes me believe that this is a niche that needs to be filled.

Of course, maybe this already exists or someone is already working on it but I just haven't heard about it.
50  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: November 11, 2013, 07:52:28 AM
Well, at least if this is a scam, it's better than most.

Care to show a picture of the chip itself?

Looking forward to some trusted forum members doing some reviews.
51  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] BTCINVEST - Low risk investment fund | Market cap: 2000+ BTC on: November 10, 2013, 05:55:32 AM
TO TRADEFORTRESS

Really not comfortable creating a coinlenders account considering inputs.io was recently attacked.

Why can't BTCINVEST send coins directly to our various addresses already provided to Bitfunder? This would eliminate all the hassle of setting up a Coinlenders account.

This.

The cynical amongst us might suggest that TF intended or intends to use the BTCINVEST funds to fill the hole in the inputs.io wallet.  Or worse, let your imagination do its worst and I doubt you'll come up with a theory that hasn't been already thought of.

TF has promised an update within a week I believe.  All we can do right now is wait and see.

If he's done something dodgy with the BTCINVEST funds then legal action may be worth investigating. I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that,  and the lack of communication is merely due to him trying to get through this mess. But forcing us to sign up for an inputs.io account to claim our funds makes me feel uneasy.
52  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: November 08, 2013, 12:11:25 AM
how do we get our Bitcoin out of Bitfunder if we have less than .1 Bitcoin? Is Ukyo going to send them to our address?

I think they should be auto-withdrawn to your weeeeeeexchange account after a determined amount of time.

I believe that is what Ukyo said is happening, FWIW.
53  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] BTCINVEST - Low risk investment fund | Market cap: 2000+ BTC on: November 07, 2013, 08:28:13 PM
My coinlenders balance is there.  But my confidence is not high.  Without the ability to withdraw from the account into my personal wallet it is little more than a promise. I guess time will tell what that promise is worth.
54  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: November 04, 2013, 10:21:56 PM
On the plus side, this means my share transfer will have to go ahead without my assistance given my inability to log in to bitfunder.com.

Ken, I would suggest retaining dividend payments until this debacle is sorted. As a long term (since IPO) shareholder of AMC I couldn't care less about day traders and speculators and the situation they are in. If I can't sell my shares for a month or two it makes no difference to me.

I'm relatively lucky that I only have 1btc in my account so the weexhcange.co nonsense isn't going to send me broke. I feel for anyone with significant funds in their accounts.
55  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: November 04, 2013, 11:55:49 AM
WeExchange don't answer support emails, so I can't get verified.

BitFunder login is broken, so I can't transfer shares.

I'm sure someone is laughing, but it isn't me.
56  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: November 03, 2013, 09:20:32 PM

To get verified, you need 100 points and things like drivers license, utility bill and passport all get different points towards that number.  This is done through Weexchange.

Shame that weexchange don't answer support emails.  Or IMs.
57  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: WeExchange on: October 30, 2013, 09:40:03 PM
I'm getting worried too.  I lost my 2factor for weexchange and sent two support emails over the last few days, not so much as a "we got your email" reply.  Just now sent a PM, will see how that goes.

If I can't log in I can't get verified.  Pretty weak.
58  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 28, 2013, 08:53:16 AM
feel bad for everyone who bought/entered at 4.5

I feel bad that I decided I'd exit if it hit 5.
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Strange transactions to unknown addresses.... on: October 28, 2013, 04:34:28 AM
Given it looks like you still control the coins, I expect it's the change address from a previous transaction.

Read up on change and change addresses on the wiki.
60  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Largest BTC share ever found? on: October 02, 2013, 12:49:34 AM
But does that mean it took 1000 times longer to find? This stuff I've never understood  Undecided

It's effectively random.  The actual value doesn't matter as long as it's greater than the difficulty.  Solving a block with an effective difficulty value greater than the actual difficulty doesn't represent wasted work, because solving a block is brute-forcing SHA256.
