41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IDENA.IO - Anonymous Blockchain Identity - Solutions for data protection. on: October 28, 2019, 09:48:48 PM
Very nice project, I will try it.

Let me know if invitation code is needed

I already have received an invitation, but I don't know how to start the node on macOS. A mobile app would be super useful, especially if you use the notification feature to notify people when they have to solve their flips.
IMO using flips is a much more practicable way of implementing a proof of individuality than using simultaneous video chat groups, so this is a big thumb up.

There is a new project called Idena. It looks promising.
Link: https://idena.io/
Distribution has already started!

Looks like the BIG Foundation project is dead.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: September 27, 2019, 10:36:46 PM
So now the NFC passport reader is on the app store https://apps.apple.com/app/id1481019012?fbclid=IwAR0MMnZliJHbCA3BgNPtI2YRjwWxioR9kVqPibwvW-B0clwNoPQh1KLba5A

Would be nice if some people could test it and write me back if they find a bug.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: September 27, 2019, 08:07:25 PM
I was able to submit a passport reader app on the app store and it was accepted but isn't visible on the app store yet.
I am confident a UBIC wallet for iOS is possible in the near future.

I just released version 3.3 of the UBIC Wallet for android on the play store. I don't know however how to trigger a new release on F-DROID Huh
This version improves the registration process, shows pending transactions and has some UI improvements

I hoped they would distribute some sort of UBI/Universal Dividend, but they aren't  Cry.
It is more or less just pegged Ethereum.

correct me if i am wrong but i guess your going to create that ios13-NFC-passport-reader as standalone-app first because you can do it and such a thing doesnt exist yet - without ubic in mind but open for everyone?

that kind of app might probably have a exponential higher userbase, i imagine 1.000+ or even 10.000+ downloads within few month after release, no matter that a few dozend competitors will produce similar apps as well.

What if you link ubic directly or build-in a link into that app to a webspace where people can find and discuss all known applications that use NFC-E-Passports at that time? That would for sure be the brexit-app in the first place, but could as well link to UBIC - and content could be build out continously?

This is indeed my plan. I already have an app like this on the play store with 10k+ installs although it isn't advertising for UBIC yet.

Looks like there are a lot of people that want to use the new NFC capabilities of iOS13 to do something with the ePassport.
Nice to see that this technology is gaining traction.

I guess your ios13-ubic-app is allready in the pipeline? Smiley

It is indeed ;-)
This September will be an exciting time!

Sad news, there was no mention of new NFC functionalities in iOS 12 at the keynote.

uk home secretary announced few weeks back that Apple promised to enable the Brexit e-passport App finally to work with iOS in late 2019 .( More and more people will grow accustomed to use their passport with NFC due to looming brexit btw. ) https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/mar/29/android-brexit-app-for-eu-citizens-to-work-on-iphones-says-sajid-javid

It is happening!

Here is what we know Apple is adding to iOS 13 for NFC. We will update this as information comes in. [...]
Direct access to issue NFC commands for the protocols FeliCa, ISO 15693 (SLI-X), ISO 7816 (Type 2, NTAG…) and Mifare (Ultralight, Plus, DESFire)

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in? on: May 31, 2019, 07:15:51 PM
If you have a passport and android phone I would invest 10 minutes of my time to register on UBIC and receive a cryptoUBI.
It doesn't cost you a penny and who knows what they will be worth in the future.

There were some issues with the block explorer: https://ubic.network
I am trying to fix them. Unfortunately it also affects the app.

This is probably either USV, Y Combinator or a16z crypto. Not sure which one, but the website looks similar to the one of a16z crypto.

Wow, they paid between 150 and 500k$ for their domain name and bought it in Feb 2018, source: https://www.namepros.com/blog/braden-pollock-sold-q-org-for-500-000.1106227
They also bought the https://twitter.com/Q account, so they seem BIG to me.

Ubic stands for "Universal Basic Income" Currency, but a additional meaning like "Unique Blockchain Identity" Currency could be correct too?

i like "Unique Blockchain Identity Currency" Smiley

However I think that we should speed up because we now have some direct competitors. Take a look at https://q.org they are planing to use the E-Passport too.
Quote from q.org:
Quote
PROOF OF PERSON
E-passports
RFID-chipped travel passports are the most widely circulated document in the world. Adoption rates became especially high in recent years. The USA is near 50%, and European countries are near 70-80% or higher. Worldwide, RFID-chipped passports are in the vicinity of 1 billion.
RFID-chipped passports support NFC (Near Field Communication). This allows us to create a Proof Of Person by verifying the passport authenticity with the signing authority. Through a mobile phone app, this can be done in a user friendly way and without anyone needing to receive your passport details, ensuring your privacy.
To prevent passport abuse by third parties, we can add an additional decentralized video verification system. This will ensure that the person in possession of the passport matches the passport picture.
They intend to launch in 2019, there are no information about who is behind the project.

I am currently working on implementing the KYC functionality to the android app and it would be very useful to have am API endpoint that for a given passport hash returns if it already receives UBI or not.
EDIT: It turns out I don't need it.
