Thinking about creating a coin that can be botnet resistant AMD Video card resistant and ASIC resistant.  Let's put our minds together and come up with a solution to this!
I'm thinking of making it tie to the amount of clicks you do on your browser but this might be defeated by some progammer who can script the clicks.  Hmm.. Let's all stick our head together!

Memory bound proof of work algorithms.  MemoryCoin was the first implementation I've seen, with their Momentum PoW algorithm.  The problem is that people/"the market" wants to mine with their GPUs etc. but I believe that will fade out eventually.

There are other memory bound functions that are worth looking into, and I'm working with one for my longer term project.  The trick is striking a balance so mining is achievable, while leveling the playing field so everyone has a reasonable opportunity to participate.  But going for more distributed hash-power density is a complex issue.

But any balance will be temporary, as whatever algorithm or technique is used, if it is profitable people will aggregate the appropriate resources.  Just as all the GPUs are sold out everywhere now, and people have built GPU farms and ASIC farms, if you do an algorithm that favors memory or some other factor people will eventually start building monster rigs optimized for it.

Quote from: rarkenin
and you kill off centralized pools.
But this is also a case of "be careful what you wish for".

Another area to maybe look into is difficulty allocation.

How do you explain this:

I don't need to explain it.  Enthusiastic user?  I have no idea, but its not me.

Every time you repost the childish adolescent giant font stuff it brings more downloads of the wallets and more users, so thanks for the publicity.

Everyone in the thread so far has been sent coins.  If you'd like to get some, grab a wallet and make a post somewhere in social media and then post your address here.  Thanks!

So this coin is a big joke, am I reading that correct?
No, you are not reading that correct.  I would venture to guess that the folks who have received over 300k in payouts and the thousands of users would agree it is far from any sort of joke.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PRE-ANN][ATO] ATOM - Born from Molecules and Emerging Shortly on: December 24, 2013, 03:58:50 PM
You're right.
So, we have the winner. Dev wanted to premine molecule, but failed at it, that's why he made this new coin. Just for his own profit.
This is a scam coin 100000%

Nothing could be further from the truth.

There is NO scam.

No matter how much you try to shill for your favored coin by attempting to plaster scam all over my thread, it will not make it so.  If you want to mine Frozen, then go mine Frozen and be happy.  Find something to be positive about.  Molecule was intentionally forked so the community would have a choice - MOL with no reserve pool for promotion, and ATO with a reserve pool of promotional currency.  MOL has taken off like crazy particularly in China.  Meanwhile ATOM will continue to gain mindshare and marketshare.

GO ATOM!

Why you don't promote it? Are here any chances to see MOL on trading markets?
We have over 8000 wallet downloads, ~6500 of which are users in China.  There is huge Chinese interest in Molecule.  The exchanges are aware of MOL.  As to whether they will add it or not, that I am not sure of, can only wait and see.

I have nothing to promote this with like I do with Atom and I have nothing to incentivize exchanges with.  I hold 0 molecule coins.  The community of MOL holders will have to come together and figure out how to market and promote the coin.  Maybe some of the Chinese users have connections to a Chinese exchange and can convince them to carry the coin or buy-in onto the exchange.

I will continue to support the coin from a development perspective and I'm putting together a new build now with checkpoints and updated dns seeds.
