41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dogecoin estimated mining vs reality on: January 30, 2014, 12:25:18 AM
I'm using doge.poolerino as a pool, it's the highest recommended doge pool, at my approx 1800 KHs hash rate it's saying now that I should be getting 18k per day, and at the current rate of $0.0016 that would be $28.80 per day, right in line with what coinwarz is saying. I haven't really looked long and hard what actual payout I do get, though.
42  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] Sony Digital 8 Handycam Movie Camera -tape based - 5 yrs old but like new on: January 29, 2014, 11:52:11 PM
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301082804293?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Will sell this for .25 BTC and include free shipping. See description on Ebay site - paid almost $400 new 5 yrs ago
and only recorded with it once for about 15 mins. USA only (lower 48)
It uses tapes, but 4 are included and many people still use this system.
Go through an escrow if need be, but I've got a 100% rep on Ebay. Need cash to pay for heating bill.
I started the bid at $89, but you can look it up on Amazon and see what they are still going for, even used.
43  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Block Erupters 32gh/s clicks and shut down on: January 29, 2014, 08:49:04 PM
I've had mostly good luck with mine so far, one time 4 of the asics on one board turned to X's so I took it apart, tightened the heatsinks a bit and reseated all the cards again and it worked fine. About a week later it stopped hashing and all the chips turned to X's. I unplugged the fuse and plugged it back in again and it resumed perfectly automatically without even having to restart the terminal window, and it's been well over a week since.
44  Bitcoin / Mining support / Unusual behavior running cube miner in pools on: January 29, 2014, 08:40:22 PM
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this - I'm running a single block erupter cube to mine bitcoins and on high clock it will run about 38 GHs using mining_proxy.
I've tried a few pools, but have mostly used the Eclipse Mining Consortium. With that pool, the console always shows "accepted" as the output with no glitches and both the miner and their website report my speed at 37-38. One thing that has happened twice now though, is that the website will stop accepting my shares at some random point a few days apart (and thus I'm not getting any income) and my graph and hash rate on the pool website drops to zero. Meanwhile, looking at my miner, it's still running at full speed and the console keeps saying accepted-accepted-accepted just as before. Are they trying to rip me off by doing this, or is it a temporary pool site glitch that gets corrected later?
When that happens, I've been switching over to 50btc.com which runs consistently. The problem I have there, though, is that my miner will only reach a speed of about 34-36 (on my miner tab itself) and a few percentage points less efficiency. Also, every few minutes on the mining_proxy console I get a bunch of lines "transport exception" "disconnect" etc., but that only lasts a few seconds and goes back to accepted-accepted-accepted just as before. What is the reason for this, maybe they are in a country where the internet is glitchy trying to reach them from the USA? If anyone has a "best" pool to recommend where I don't have to use my wallet address (like Eligius) as a miner name please let me know. It has to have stratum and be low or no fees but perform well. Thanks.

38 GHs will only earn you about $7 a day now.
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Dump is on on: January 28, 2014, 06:50:21 AM
I sure hope so, it's really starting to get into almost negative territory compared to how things have been going to past few weeks - losing all gains now. And I can't even sell my DOGE or Earthcoins for BTC's either even though BTC is cheap now, because they've gone down over 20% too and who knows if or when either will recover and how strongly.
47  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin been a bit boring last 3 weeks, do you think it will dip or shoot up ? on: January 27, 2014, 10:22:20 PM
I finally got approved on MtGox after a 3 week wait, I don't think I will use it though, as when setting up a payout to my checking account it says it will go out by "international transfer" and may take a month. Not too encouraging. Looking at the current average price on MTGox, it's at $944. On the other hand, I actually do have about 1 BTC on Coinbase, but it's dipped so much lately that it currently shows the buy price at $759. Not selling any time soon, as that's not much more than I paid a few weeks ago.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you send Bitcoin from an iPhone? on: January 24, 2014, 09:27:41 PM
Is there an app yet for smartphones where you can transfer bitcoins from one individual to another by scanning their QR code when displayed on the other person's phone? Or at some point at a retailer (perhaps one day like Starbucks)?

Dogecoins to Cryptsy is a mixed bag. I've had them go through sometimes in 1/2 hour, but twice it took 24 hours before they showed up.

so you don't think moons are a good investment? +475.77 % according to the latest figures. Have been thinking of buying some, looks like it may go up quite a bit more.

54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: undervolting r9 280x linux - possible? on: January 24, 2014, 12:07:53 AM
I've got two XFX R9 280X Radeon cards, each in a separate computer, both running Ubuntu 13.10. I just built the second box yesterday. After much tweaking, I can get the first one to stay at 724 KHz when I'm not doing anything else on the computer.
I've had this box going 24/7 for almost 3 weeks now at 724 (when all else idle), plus the temp stays around 72 C.
I use this config:
-I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --gpu-engine 1027 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune -5 --no-submit-stale  --auto-fan --thread-concurrency 11200 --lookup-gap 2

I found that changing the engine or memclock higher actually makes it go slower, and powertune of -20 or -5 don't make a difference.
TC of 8192 which a lot of people use, also makes it go slower. I delete the .bin files before use (Tahiti)
So I'm satisfied with it, for sure.

On the second box though, with the same card (and exact same command line), it will start out at 700+ after the first 30 secs or so of "settling in", but after a few minutes gradually drop down to an average of only about 609 KHs over a period of time, with nothing else running and unattended. Also it runs around 76 C at this lower rate.  Wonder what's the reason for this?
Also want to mention, I'm using a USB stick wifi unit for internet, while the first box is direct to the Ethernet via cable. May that or the pool itself have some influence on what gets accepted and how fast?
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Network Hash Rate Stabilization? on: January 23, 2014, 11:06:22 PM
I've been doing some mining, but only have a block erupter cube, and it's only making me about $9.50 a day and this will go down by over 20% tomorrow. Paid $979 for it, and has been online for almost a month. Seeing the price of Bitcoin being down in the $600 range, I decided to invest in a small way, bought 1.05 BTC in 3 instalments in Dec-Jan, starting when it was still in the $600+ range, and paid a total of $785 cash (via Coinbase bank transfer), which is now worth $854. Not much of a gain yet, be we'll see.
I also have 3 rigs now mining altcoins, this alone should mine over $600 a month (just built the last one yesterday), and I invested only about $1700 in these, upgrading an old box with a Radeon 6950 (it won't take anything newer on the mobo), and building 2 new ones with R9 280X's. Hopefully the altcoins will keeping pumping at the same rate per hash, not like Bitcoin where the $'s erode every couple weeks.

Yes, I just noticed that, for my 1700 KHs I can mine about $30/day, compared to DOGE $28. The value is neck-neck with DOGE at $.0018 and EAC at $.0019. Both have show gains in recent hours.

Wonder why Mooncoin has gone crazy, up 236% and if they will sustain the value. The diff is too high on them, and I could only mine $11/day. But they would be something to buy too, if they are going to rocket in value.
57  Economy / Economics / Re: BitCoin price determined by... on: January 23, 2014, 08:23:56 PM
Another thing I see id that the Bitcoin value has been stagnant the past week or so. I stopped buying as it's going up less than the interest on my bills, so what event(s) do you see for it making decent rises again, like up into the $1200 USD range? Is this just a lull or will it be a very slow rise, if at all, over a longer period of time?
58  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can I mine with my computer? on: January 23, 2014, 08:16:23 PM
Get a Radeon GPU and mine scrypt altcoins. Also, if you have a fast processor you can CPU mine for quark coins at the same time. Not much per day, but they have a good following and a fairly stable price. There's a special cpuminer version for quark.
59  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Q2- Mining These Days COST YOU More than it GIVES on: January 23, 2014, 08:04:22 PM
I feel the best approach right now is to scrypt mine altcoins with GPU's, then sell them for Bitcoins. ASIC's for BTC will not ROI well with the diff going up so quickly. There has been a big increase in the altcoins lately (Litecoin, etc.), and with a good rig you can build for around $7-800 with an R9 280X, for example, you can mine about $8-10 USD per day and ROI in about 3 months. Some of these altcoins have been going up in price a lot lately too, much faster than BTC, so if you are savvy enough you can hold onto or trade them and make additional decent profits.

That will sure kick PayPal in the butt to some degree.
