41  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IS IT VERY TRUE THAT NIGERIAN YOUTHS ARE VERY LAZY AS STATED BY PRESIDENT BUHARI on: May 17, 2018, 11:59:13 PM
Why do you want to know. I mean are you from Nigeria? I don't think this is a great place to ask such a question since 99.5% of the people here are not from Nigeria, so will just come up with random answers.

Edit: See, read the comments and now we have some people already making it racial, and accepting it without a shadow of a doubt that Nigerian youths are indeed lazy, because he loves that narrative.

I mean I've seen similar topics here in the US about young people, millennials, 10x worse than simply lazy. And before that the older people used to talk bad about the young generation x. Would called them generation nothing.

Imagine if you made a thread asking if the Nigerian youth are nothing, meanwhile that's been said about youth in the US.

I was thinking about this today. Of how whales can manipulate the market, and so essentially it's perpetual free money.
43  Economy / Economics / Re: So mining is apparently only profitable if btc is over $8600 on: May 07, 2018, 03:52:43 PM
Reading about the history of Bitcoin, what I really dislike is the fact that there are mining companies. It's not like it was meant, with each user contributing. I wish I could go back to the days when people use to mine it with their laptops.

"I have given away more bitcoin than you will likely earn while on this forum."

To have that status of I guess being an early Bitcoin adopter just sounds ultra comfortable with zero frustration. Compared to being newer and trying to figure out how to get a fraction of one. Feeling humbled.

More importantly is the concept that I can’t be corrupted. There is nothing anyone could offer me to entice me to sell them merit. I had money when I came to this forum and started playing with bitcoin, being an early adopter has nothing to do with it. In fact, I started playing with bitcoin because I’m retired and bored, not because I was looking for a way to get rich.

That’s the real plague currently destroying this forum. Everyone using this forum now just wants to make a quick buck and couldn’t give a shit about any cryptocurrency. They could care less that bitcoin has the potential to return power to the people by giving them control over their money. They don’t care that fractional reserve banking is destroying the world economy and oppressing 99% of world citizens.

Here’s how you get a “fraction of one” = get a job and buy it! Help create something that this community values and sell it. Start buying the things that you need with bitcoin and taking bitcoin in trade for things you sell. Don’t pollute the value of bitcoin by diluting the idea of cryptocurrency (that means stop trading and buying shitcoins only because you can earn a six pack of beer a week doing it).

I understand your point and what you were trying to say. I don't think my post really expressed my point though. Money wise I'm ok, I'm probably coming into this in a different way than those that just want to get rich for doing nothing. What I really meant about trying to figure how to get a fraction is really just understanding every subtlety about the market in a deep level, understanding what I currently do not understand. Understand it to the level where I would be less prone to mistakes. Though I'm doing fine, I do not have the type of money where I can experiment and learn, and so the stress level is higher because mistakes can hurt deeply. That's why I imagined such comfort when I read that you were here in the early days.

You in your position, having a lot of merit, and not really having to worry about bitcoin, you have the comfort to offer merit points and experiment like that. So that's an example of having the comfort to experiment.

I understand. Being comfortable (having plenty of what you need or want) gives you freedom. I suppose that’s true but having plenty of merit doesn’t do that for me.

Merit only equates to money if you are using this forum as an income stream. Merit is useless if you’re here to discuss something and have real conversations. You only need merit to gain rank.

You don’t need rank to talk. You don’t need rank to learn. You don’t need rank to teach. You can be a newbie and do all of that.

You need rank to make more sig money. You need rank to make people trust you so you can scam them. You need rank to convince people that you’re someone special even when you’re not.

Chances are if someone wants merit and higher rank then they are probably someone that shouldn’t be here. If you don’t chase merit and rank but instead use the forum to learn and grow you will gain rank and get merit.

Personally I don't care about merit. 24 pages of this thread shows that there's a lot of interest, but it just seems like a lot of work chasing it, for very little gain. I only mentioned it as an example of that freedom to experiment and create such a thread.

Unfortunately it's something that's going to attract the type of people you mentioned.

When I see someone with extra merit, I'm going to be suspicious of them.

great project! great community! great Dev's and Mod's
I feel lucky myself to be a part of this great DeepOnion community. Smiley

Glad you are a part of the community!! I too feel lucky to be apart of it! Smiley
It's really amazing. Definitely most promising privacy coin on the market right now. Happy to be here.

How does it compare with Monero though? That's the biggest privacy coin out there.
Monero failed a little bit in privacy..Also with the features that are coming, like DeepSend,  DeepOnion can achieve more than Monero ever had.

How exactly did they fail a little on privacy? I'm just trying to know, since it is the top one.

Monero turned out to be traceable. The devs didn't deny that, but only stated that now it is fixed and more secure. I'm not home right now so I don't have the report, if you need it, PM me at the DO forums and I'll try to find it for you. When a new research confirmed that it is traceable, Monero devs claimed that this report is old. They are trying to act cool and not make a big deal out of it. They don't want to admit their mistake because the worst thing that can happen to a privacy crypto is to find out that it is not private and all transactions are stored on the blockchain can compromise their users forever.

Zcash is the next competitor, and the developers stated that it needs a huge amount of RAM to create truly untraceable transaction... Good luck sending a private transaction supported by a statement like that.

DeepOnion is superior than both, as it uses both technologies used by Monero and Zcash +more, when DeepSend is launched. In addition to being anonymous by sending all transactions through Tor. This gives the upper hand when trading through a decentralized exchange as the user identity should be protected.

That's interesting to know. I'm not part of the forums yet, I'll look into it. But what you said sounds very intriguing. Just have to hope that such vulnerabilities are not found for this one.

I've seen a few posts where it's a long paragraph that seems copied and pasted from Wikipedia and doesn't flow at all withe the topic at hand. It's so lazy because in order to I guess quickly posts they don't even bother to read the thread.

User marcelo01 from copy paste, archive thread (What are the disadvantages of bitcoin?)

Original:
Like any currency, there are disadvantages associated with using Bitcoin:

Bitcoins Are Not Widely Accepted
Bitcoins are still only accepted by a very small group of online merchants. This makes it unfeasible to completely rely on Bitcoins as a currency. There is also a possibility that governments might force merchants to not use Bitcoins to ensure that users’ transactions can be tracked.

Wallets Can Be Lost
If a hard drive crashes, or a virus corrupts data , and the wallet file is corrupted, Bitcoins have essentially been “lost”. There is nothing that can done to recover it. These coins will be forever orphaned in the system. This can bankrupt a wealthy Bitcoin investor within seconds with no way form of recovery. The coins the investor owned will also be permanently orphaned.

No Buyer Protection
When goods are bought using Bitcoins, and the seller doesn’t send the promised goods, nothing can be done to reverse the transaction. This problem can be solved using a third party escrow service like ClearCoin, but then, escrow services would assume the role of banks, which would cause Bitcoins to be similar to a more traditional currency.

so many other things, but it depends how it is managed.

Did you report the user? Or just posted it here. I ask because unlike some of the quotes in the OP the user still has the copy and pasted post up.

Rape per capita is probably at its lowest point in history.
51  Other / Off-topic / Re: Self-education. on: March 18, 2018, 03:12:55 AM
Self education undoubtedly is the best way to educate yourself.

I wouldn't say it's the best way. What if you're a person that's not so bright and there are teachers that specialize on better teaching such people. Even if you are bright, you can learn from the experience of others.

My first comment after searching for something I can comment about. Self education is possible, but can be difficult if you don't have a college deadline. Easy if it's something that you naturally are into and seek without effort.
