41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your crypto? on: March 27, 2018, 07:31:54 AM
I'm pretty new as well... I'm trying to get a lay of the land still. But this is my list of things to do so far:

Buy coins and hold them (long term investing)
Buy coins and spend them (to buy products, services, or other coins... the whole idea is to spend them, right?)
Do more short term trading between currencies to make money (short term trading)
Buy alt coins and hope they go up
Look for ICOs and buy tokens if you think its a good investment

anyone want to add to or amend this list?
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Bitcoin is King.. why is it?! on: March 27, 2018, 07:17:37 AM
THANK YOU for posting! I am also pretty new to crypto, and it seems kind of obvious to me that bitcoin has some massive limitations... and yet it's still King. Case in point, I asked earlier if I should get paid in BTC or ETH, and got like 100 comments... 99% of them saying take the BTC and run. And thats on bitcointalk where we can assume most of the people are nerdy enthusiasts.

It's hard to believe that the only reason btc is still holding all the cards is because of it's brand name? Although I suppose that in this game a brand name is worth more than anything else. After all... it's "magic internet money" so what actually matters more than brand name?

I have a further question in response to #4 Cartels... I'd like to know why don't they just impose extreme limitations on what 1 computer (or one network) can contribute in a day? Could that help the problem? I'm sure smarter people than me have thought of this... just wondering.

Anyway, its a great question.  Huh
43  Other / Beginners & Help / can someone explain why so many ICO's are scams? on: March 26, 2018, 04:23:28 PM
All I hear about is that ICOs are scams and you need to watch out... Can someone explain why so many of these things are scams? What percentage do you think are legit businesses?
44  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: March 26, 2018, 03:16:09 PM
I was just reading an article on medium about these questions... The gist of the article is that corporate currency is the future of money. Crazy times we live in.

"For years economists have forecasted that the world will transition from traditional government-issued currency towards “branded currency.” Harvard Business Review predicted “The Coming Branded-Currency Revolution” in a very positive recent article."

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS or NEO on: March 26, 2018, 02:49:41 PM
I can't say I know.

What I can say is ALL I HEAR ABOUT is NEO! I'm super into learning everything by video, and I actually watched this one recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPAZzKuSF_Y

It talks about what you're asking on a larger scale.
47  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coin Market Cap SCAM!!! on: March 26, 2018, 02:20:41 PM
I hope it isn't true. But as others have said before me, there are better sites out there for sure.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coin now you think had a good future on: March 26, 2018, 02:12:30 PM
When deciding in which coin to invest you can either blindly follow suggestions by others or make your own informed descision based on some criteria:

  • What problem does the project attempt to solve?
  • Is it a solution looking for a problem?
  • Is there active development behind the project? (check Github activity)
  • Has the team produced anything but a whitepaper?
  • Are there established competitors which are much further into delivering a working product?
  • Cross reference developers against previous scam projects
  • Current market capitalization of the coin

This is golden advice... as a newbie its so tempting to just ask for advice but nothing beats good old fashioned research I think...
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do ICOS's work? on: March 26, 2018, 01:02:20 PM
Yes... as a few people mentioned before, research very very well before buying!!

I saw this other post and thought it was helpful: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3115076.0

Basically just do a ton of research before buying... just like any other investment!

Good luck
50  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies, don’t feel unwelcome. on: March 26, 2018, 12:55:54 PM
Thanks for posting... can def be intimidating especially when you're not sure of yourself.

I'm bound to have something deleted at some point, and I won't sweat it when it happens!

Have a good one  Cool
51  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Having trouble finding out if the ICO you are interested in is legit? on: March 26, 2018, 12:44:43 PM
Good list to look out for... Yeah I think the idea here is just do your research. Do you think that another good way to check would be to email their customer support or try to contact someone at the company to see if they respond?
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Amazon Coins?? on: March 26, 2018, 12:19:37 PM
Anyone heard of Amazon coins? Saw this vid on fb: https://www.facebook.com/cnbccrypto/videos/1654957167920856/?fref=gs&dti=117019571641495&hc_location=group

And sure enough you can buy Amazon coins right on amazon. anyone else heard of this?
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why ICOs fail on: March 26, 2018, 08:09:14 AM
IMHO the whole crypto market is based a lot on speculation and hype... so I'd say a huge reason an ICO might fail is lack of proper advertising/not getting their name recognized. I suppose that could be true for any business, but I feel it's especially true in crypto.

54  Other / Beginners & Help / Best telegram groups and twitter accounts to follow as a newbie? on: March 25, 2018, 02:33:49 PM
Hey all-- brand new here, and I just got Telegram. What are the best Telegram groups to join for people new to crypto? I want to expand my knowledge as fast as possible!

On a similar note, who are your favorite influencers to follow on Twitter?

TIA!
55  Other / Beginners & Help / Spending crypto? on: March 25, 2018, 12:19:34 PM
Hey all... Newbie here.

I wanted to ask how you convert your crypto to fiat when you want to spend it with the least friction and fees. What are you guys (and gals) using? Like Bitpay or 10x or what? Is Bitcoin easier than Ether to convert to fiat or are they the same? I'm trying to make informed decisions.

Any pointers are appreciated, thx in advance <3
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: i am newbi so i am late or not to this field? on: March 25, 2018, 11:31:56 AM
I'm also a newbie here and I really had the same question. But I honestly think that although crypto is getting a "lot" more media attention now, the train hasn't even left the station. I'm just learning as much as I can as fast as I can... I think that things are bound to change a lot and it's impossible to know where its gona go... but seriously things are barely even getting started!!

Good luck, and learn a lot!
