What I don't understand: by launching Ardor the way you have done now, it will give the initial stakes from NXT an equal advantage in Ardor. Wasn't that the major "problem" a lot of people had/have with NXT (the initial distribution). Aren't you now 1 on 1 transferring that "problem"?

Not at all.
As you may have noticed, we've seen quite a few stakeholders offloading Nxt.
They have found an exit point they felt happy with which is good for the distribution and which we are very happy with.

Your example also seems to imply a static distribution over two and a half years, which is simply not true.
We've seen multiple stakeholders offload over the years, most visibly during the middle of last year when we had a downward pressure for a few months when an initial stakeholder kept selling around the 3000-4000 mark.

Ardor will start with a much improved distribution exactly due to this method.

I would also argue that there is no other way short of disenfranchising any current Nxt holders (which is a much larger group than the initial stakeholders. They consist of people who invested and traded for 2,5 years), which would be infinitely more destructive: we'd be breaching investor trust, which the devs refuse to do.

Tomorrow At 19:00 GMT, the recording period for Ardor will begin. Make sure you've gotten your NXT by then!

Still not sure what is price per Ardor, is it the same with current NXT price?

There is no price yet, as it hasn't been distributed yet.
You get Ardor based on your Nxt balance over the next three months.
After that, we will see what the market will pay for it.

Please help me to understand this snapshot thing..

Let say I have 10000 nxt and remains same during the Snapshot period, which is 91 days or 2184 hours, since the snapshot will be taken on an hourly basis...

So, at the SNAPSHOT period, my total nxt accumulated if snapshot taken on a hourly basis and then added, i.e. 21840000 NXT, which then will be divided by 2184 hours, which comes to 10000 Ardor for me... ri8???

Or my concept is totally wrong..

You can use this example if i hold 10.000nxt for 14 Days with hourly snapshots.

10,000 NXT * 14 days * 24 hours / (90 days * 24 hours) = 1,555

Thx for the clarification..So, at the end of the Snapshot, my 10000 nxt, if remains same, will become 10000 ardor...

Yes Smiley you will own 10000 nxt and 10000 ardor at the end.

I am only speculating here but I want to ask what will happen to NXT after all the Ardor is already given away? Will the ones who bought NXT just to gain Ardor now dump NXT or will they dump Ardor? Or maybe dump both?

I am now suspicious that a lot of the people who recently bought NXT or only in it for the profit in bitcoins.

It's a speculative question and they are always hard to answer.

I can only answer from our position as the Nxt Foundation which is that regardless of speculation we will keep working to create and maintain value for both Nxt and Ardor.
There is no way we can stop any speculators doing what they want, but we can make sure it's used and has value. Even if some people would offload Nxt in October, we'll work to increase it again.

We've been working at that even when Nxt was at it's lowest point, and just see where it got us now. We firmly believe that success takes time and that working to create long term value is much better than reacting to speculative movements we have little control over. Smiley

The Nxt Foundation has become an affiliate member of the Linux Foundation.

Nxt has always been an advocate of Open Source software, as the licensing under the GPL v2 also shows.

We want to be in contact with people who are like minded and therefore have formed this partnership.

The Linux Foundation just formally announced our membership.   Smiley

Wow congratulations. What would this partnership entail? Will the NXT devs have access to the skills of the people who are developing the Hyper Ledger and vice versa? That would be nice to see. And very beneficial for both.

We're already part of Hyperledger. It just hasn't been added openly yet. Smiley

That's not to say we are collaborating on everything. We are part of the program, that's all.

Marenkar has just finished the first version of our newest site https://www.ardorplatform.org/!

The site is at this moment meant as an easy way into Nxt and thus into Ardor.

It has counters, and points to the exchanges where people can buy Nxt as well as a link to Bitpanda, where you can send people who want to buy Nxt with fiat.

The site will be expanded over time, and ideas are always welcome.

What is the reason why NXT decided to create a child chain? Isn't NXT enough already or is there a technical reason why? Could this be a sort of "reboot" for marketing purposes.

In a glance this looks like a move driven by marketing reasons since NXT really went anywhere in that regard.

Running a blockchain is costly and many entities don't have the expertise.
They would like to use a blockchain to solve various problems and not worry about security, blockchain maintenance, volatile coin rates. In Nxt 2.0 they will get specialized blockchains with custom features, for instance they can peg their custom blockchain token to one USD or cowry shell, or their custom blockchain will be feature tailored to their specialized usage. It's a blockchain as a service thing. They will pay block fees to the global network of ARDOR token holders when they must make a hashes record of their custom child chain operations into the main chain. It's a 'focus on your job without all the worries that come with running a blockchain' customer-oriented solution. Transactional throughput will grow manyfold.

So how is Ardor different to the other blockchain platforms like Ethereum, Lisk and Waves? And why do you think a company should choose to use Ardor over the 3 mentioned?

Nxt and Ardor very specifically did not go for scriptable Smart Contracts. There are several reasons for not doing so:

1. You have no way of controlling the quality of the code. This can lead to unfortunate results and create huge problems.
2. A large portion of the market has need for out of the box solutions, not custom ones. Nxt and Ardor offer hardcoded and modular Smart contracts (or smart transactions) which are tested and secure. For most SME's these cover a lot of use cases and are more cost effective.
3. Lisk is still in development: Nxt already works, and has been operational for 2,5 years. Ardor will use the same tech. If a company wants to use software that's tested and tried, it should go to Nxt or Ardor (depending on the use case).
4. Waves is also still in development. Same argument as before. The idea might be sound, there is no way to predict now whether it will pull off its promise.

The child chain architecture is unique to Ardor. Lisk and Waves do not have it, neither does Ethereum. Bloat is a problem that all of them have and Ardor is the system that is concentrating on it.

We are making great headway in being recognised in the actual industries we are changing.
