41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: April 15, 2014, 10:12:54 PM
I agree, impressive prediction !   Cool

What a volume : more than 20000 ANC bought at the exit of the handle for more than 76 btc! Shocked

nice initiative on the logo, I think it can use more refinement and maybe dropping the headless business man completely

I've been thinking about a lot of UI/UX tweaks on this coin's interfaces and logo definitely leads that effort

how does freedom relate with chains?

In this case it does not.

I don't think Anoncoin is directly about freedom. I think it is about privacy (question mark) and security (chain).
Privacy allows more freedom, yes. But I think all cryptocurrencies are about freedom, and privacy is the only point where ANC differs from them.

However, I understand the chain may look coercitive, but it is one of a few cases where it is not. Because the zerocoin-powered (block)chain allows privacy (freedom).

Hello,

Anoncoin is going to move to a next step by implementing Zerocoin. So I think it is time for the coin to have its own logo instead of the Anonymous logo. However, to keep the Anonymous filiation, I just modified the existing logo, replacing laurel-leaves by a chain. The chain is a symbol of security and also represents the blockchain distributed around the world.

Let me know if you're interested in this design, I can give you the files you need (AI, etc.).

Best regards,

Gostrol

Strangely ANCblockchain's adresses all start by KXWc9osG and not by A...

Also few days ago it was more like blockchain.info, now it is like ABE

Would be nice to go back to the blockchain.info style and with correct ANC address IMHO Cheesy

I had problem to compile ANC on Ubuntu before by following https://anoncoin.net/index.php/guides2

Finally I did like I posted in that post and it worked:

Noob's guide to install on Xubuntu 12.04 & 13.10

$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin -y
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get build-dep bitcoin -y
$ sudo apt-get install git
$ git clone https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin.git
$ cd anoncoin/src/
$ make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-
$ sudo cp anoncoind /usr/bin/anoncoind

qt:
$ cd ~/anoncoin
$ qmake "USE_BOOST_46=1"
$ make
$ sudo cp anoncoin-qt /usr/local/bin

Why do people mine a coin with 1 billion premined coin on 14 billion planned mined coin for first year?

It is like 25000 block premined by counting 40000 coin per block!!!  Angry

int64 static GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees)
{
    int64 nSubsidy = 10000 * COIN;

    if(nHeight == 1)
                       nSubsidy = 1000000000 * COIN;
else if(nHeight < 2880)
                        nSubsidy = 1000 * COIN;
                else if(nHeight < 86400)
                        nSubsidy = 40000 * COIN;
                else if(nHeight < 172800)
                        nSubsidy = 20000 * COIN;
                else if(nHeight < 259200)
                        nSubsidy = 10000 * COIN;

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

SCAM!
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 09, 2014, 12:38:10 AM
Yes and just to clarify, I was being dumb - it's actually ZeroCash we're looking at, not ZeroCoin.

Are you sure? AFAIK Zerocash is the altcoin Matt will release while Zerocoin is the library already released that ANC want to implement. As far as I have understood what he said in Real World Cryptography Workshop 13-15 january 2014 the design of Zerocash completely remove the bitcoin blockchain like we know it replacing it by zk-Snark in a different implementation to hide every transactions while verifying sums and differences to have correct count of coins. This is not adaptable IMHO to a bitcoin-like blockchain such as vertcoin one. Only Zerocoin which is token based can be implemented as a library but by itself it also suffer some defect like Matt said in his presentation. Hence I think what you want to implement is the Zerocoin library and not the Zerocash altcoin. Libzerocoin as found on Github https://github.com/zerocoin.

Or am I wrong? Roll Eyes

@jballs: you may do it.

Othe from irc has just pledged 200VTC to the translation.

Nice. Will post shortly... Also french might be a good idea, being the vert coin and all they might like it.

Do you still need a french translation?

why is anoncoin transfer traceable on blo ckchain explorer? I transfered 1 anoncoin from one wallet address to another, and on block chain explorer when I input the second wallet address into it, I can see clearly where the coin transfered in is from. Isn't anoncoin anonymous? Could anyone give any clue? Thanks!

You should read more about anoncoin : transactions are traceable just like in any other coin in the blockchain. What is anonymous about it is that it can be connected through i2p but this is of use only for mined coin otherwise every transaction is traceable hence if bought from exchange with real id it can be known just like another coin. Anoncoin may become more anonymous latter if they introduce zerocoin transactions in client but until then it is not. Also there are problems for zerocoin implementation : size of proof of zerocoin v1 is too big as well as takes lots of time to process and there are trust issues for generation of an unrecoverable encrypting key to initialize zerocoin. This has been discussed since several months in this thread and has not changed much recently.

Can anyone help me with unblocking unprocessed transaction in my wallet?
I wanted to send some amount on cryptsy 10 days ago and today I found out it is not on cryptsy, nor in wallet Smiley
It is just in sent coins but has 0 confirmations for 10 days..
I tried to run wallet with -salvagewallet which solved same problem with quark wallet but it seems that it doesnt work here..
any idea, how to unblock it? Thanks

Try to run anoncoin-QT with -rescan. It may help maybe.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: December 26, 2013, 01:59:43 PM
Add the line stfu=1 to your anoncoin.conf to silence it  Wink

Thank you it works great!

How would I do this:
'and run from command line in correct folder "anoncoin-qt -rescan" this way your balance of ANC on the imported key will be updated'
 Huh

On windows you can edit the properties of the shortcut for anoncoin-QT, by default the target is ' "C:\Program Files (x86)\Anoncoin\anoncoin-qt.exe" ' and you shall replace this by ' "C:\Program Files (x86)\Anoncoin\anoncoin-qt.exe" -rescan '. Otherwise open explorer and go in above folder then hold shift and right click then choose 'open command window here'. At prompt type 'anoncoin-qt -rescan'.

Under linux you shall execute it in terminal by typing 'anoncoin-qt -rescan' too.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: December 26, 2013, 01:35:28 AM
Is there a way to stop the alert windows 'Anoncoin is running on clearnet!' that open at start of anoncoin-QT 0.8.5.6 (i2p=1 in anoncoin.conf) under windows? Because for solo-mining when this open at restart of CPU it stop there waiting someone to hit OK button... hence I cannot start to solomine automatically anymore... maybe by putting something in anoncoin.conf or by using a command line argument?

Thank you!

Cool, am hoping to do an initial run in a month or so - my main issue is how do I go about creating a paper wallet for ANC? I'm not as technically minded as some unfortunately  Huh

We're having a site with support for this, I will try make it finished soon! What I did was only printing privatekeys with coins sent to the addresses on a paper. Smiley

In fact http://jsaddr.anoncoin.net/ works already very good... Wink

Also to import private key there is a tutorial here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys_v7%2B

Also the anoncoin-QT will hang after importprivkey, just close it, restart the program or CPU (on windows due to a lock on the folder) and run from command line in correct folder "anoncoin-qt -rescan" this way your balance of ANC on the imported key will be updated.

Awsome, post your address for a little reward Smiley

Hehe but I got helped by K1773R and others Wink

anyway AHTF7G49ktEeo5Nh7t1EYupLDv7WZdTW6A Smiley thank you much appreciated

I agree there is big problem with anc.usr.io : it is more than two weeks I try to cash out >50 ANC I mined there without any luck !

IMHO this pool is operated by a thief and people shall be told to not mine there anymore...

Also if you look around there are many people reporting problem with this particular pool.

Meeh, maybe it would be wise to remove the link to this pool from anoncoin.net to not have more people scammed by this pool.

BTW Good work for new ANC client and good to have coincontrol back Wink

Noob's guide to install on Xubuntu 12.04 & 13.10

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anoncoind
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Download Xubuntu 12.04 or 13.10 Desktop (http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/)
2) Download Universal-USB-Installer and create a bootable xubuntu USB with 4gb home folder as explained here : http://www.bluewhaleseo.com/blog/bootable-xubuntu-linux-os-usb-flash-drive-improve-productivity-mobility/
2b) or alternativelly install xubuntu on the hard drive following any tutorial

3) Restart and boot on Xubuntu:
4) when arrived on desktop : [super]+T to open terminal ([super] = [win] touch on the keyboard)
5) In the windows that open type these to update the system, and install required tools.
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

6) Restart computer if prompted then go back in the terminal and type
$ sudo apt-get install libqtgui4 qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb++-dev git

7) Next, get the anoncoin source code from git. Type in terminal
$ git clone https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin.git

Cool Now that you got the source. Navigate to the src directory and begin the compilation.
$ cd anoncoin/src/

9) Type this in terminal:
$ make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-

9b) If it doesn't work because g++ is not found (because you use a xubuntu USB in place of an install) type:
$ sudo apt-get install g++
...then go back to 9) and reexecute make

9c) If it doesn't work because there is problem detecting the boost library, type this:
$ sudo apt-get install build-essential libboost-all-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev

10) When it completes you should have a binary file named anoncoind in the folder ($ dir). Copy this somewhere to make it executable for every user on the system.
$ sudo cp anoncoind /usr/bin/anoncoind

11) You should now be ready to run anoncoind as soon as you have a configuration file in place. You will get instructions when running anoncoind.

$ anoncoind

12) To edit anoncoin.conf :
$ nano ~/.anoncoin/anoncoin.conf
rpcuser=**your username**
rpcpassword=**your password**
daemon=1
server=1

save and close, run anoncoind, command line stop to stop, help for help
For those who does not like command line program CLI, you shall install anoncoin-QT to get a GUI

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anoncoin-QT:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0) At first, stop anoncoind
$ anoncoind stop

1) Type this
$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin -y
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get build-dep bitcoin -y

2) Change directory to where the Git-Hub got cloned (see step 6+7 of install of anoncoind)
$ cd ~/anoncoin

3) Compile Anoncoin-QT
$ qmake "USE_BOOST_46=1"
$ make

4) When it completes you should have a binary file named anoncoin-qt in the folder ($ dir). Copy this somewhere to make it executable for every user on the system.
$ sudo cp anoncoin-qt /usr/local/bin

5) After that you can execute anoncoin-qt but stop anoncoind first
$ anoncoind stop
$ anoncoin-qt

6) If there is an error 22DbRunRecoveryException, and IF THERE IS NO COIN IN WALLET.DAT
stop anoncoin-qt and do this: $ rm ~/.anoncoin/wallet.dat
and this also: $ rm -R ~/.anoncoin/blk* ~/.anoncoin/__db* ~/.anoncoin/database
after this it should work
