Isn't Primechain/Primecoin the only hashing algorithm that GPU is no faster than CPU with current software?

What's going on with the site?
I tried to withdraw BTC earlier today and it hasn't come out and now I'm getting connection refused for the site.
I hope it wasn't hacked...

Is C-CEX having trouble adding the NGC coin for some reason? It doesn't seem to have been added despite winning their vote.
I think we need to get this coin on some respected exchanges to draw some additional mining interest to the coin - network hash rate seems to be decreasing (3185662818 now).
I would think with the increased prevalence of Scrypt ASICS that miners would be looking into alternative hashes, and I think NGC has a lot of advantages as a coin.
|
|
|
I agree - that is a feature not often seen in pools - splitting the hash rate intelligently and mining several coins at the same time and splitting them proportionally.
|
|
|
What's up with the pools? They seem to be buggy since last night and not updating information properly. What ones are working well for others?
do you have problens with ngc.plasr.com? what do you mean "buggy"? Well CrunchHarder was not showing my hash rate, blocks, or credits, and Tales from the Scrypt was totally down. The manager of Tales told me they were DDOS attacked and fixed it. Haven't tried ngc.plasr.com yet. There were no people on it last time I checked and I am a small time miner (single 280X) so I won't get any coins if I'm the only one.

I predict this coin is going to take off in the next couple days for the reasons I said in my last post and because it will probably be listed on C-CEX within the next 24 hours (it is voting rank #1 by quite a bit).
So devs keep the publicity momentum going...

Any progress on getting this coin on an exchange? Miners won't mine it forever for the sake of it if there are no good/services/exchanges.
I think it could have promise. The features I see are:
-Skein mining algorithm is different than most coins and is cooler for GPU's; also no ASICS
-"Burning coins" is novel - I also am not sure what the difference is from doing this vs. slower coin production, but it is a different strategy
-Uses latest Bitcoin wallet as its base
-Nigeria meme - either as a "cult" coin with sarcastic/humorous take on it (scam emails) or as charity or technology development for the country

Are there any available windows binaries yet for the Dwarfpool?
I would love it if someone who can actually get these to compile could write a step by step instructions as I would be happy to build binaries to share.
I tried to use the Windows build instructions but get always errors at the autoreconf -ivf step.

|
|
Would someone mind mirroring this on a different sharing site? Have to wait a few more hours before downloading this ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif)

I'm happy to help with compiling windows binaries but could use some tips from people who have successfully done it already.
I follow the instructions to the letter, but get these errors (at the bottom) when I try to run the autoreconf command. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm trying to build the AMD sgminer for Windows to share with the community, and am following the instructions to the letter, but come up with the errors below that I don't know how to get past. Does anybody with more experience than I have any tips of how to get it to compile? Here is my output:

My thoughts on this coin:
-Thank you EngineersPools.com - received bonus XSV for mining on the pool as promised. That is a nice way to use the bounty and reward the miners who are building critical mass on a pool.
-Otherwise, the coin is way too hard to mine and the confirmation time is way too long. Given the mining difficulty, it seems underpriced on the exchanges.
|
|
|
Giving it a try. Anybody having luck with solo mining?
|
|
|
I agree with the issue about the difficulty - is the difficulty increase outpacing the increase in network hash rate?
|
|
|
When did it become the norm for coins to have to be "voted for" (donating BTC's) to be listed on an exchange?
I would think an exchange would WANT to be the first one to list a new coin, particularly one with a novel hashing method, for the traffic it would drive to their exchange and the transaction fees.

@anonuser777:
Linux build.
Anyone with linux wallet can check ./fuguecoind getconnectioncount ? I have only 1 under linux (checked on 2 machines) and 20 under Win. With only 1 node connected I'm sure it has big impact on finding orphans mostly.
That's stange. I don't have linux so I can't check. On Windows I have 12+ peers. Someone needs to recompile sgminer for Windows. I can see GPU monitoring isn't working for other people (see screenshots above). Also, there's a problem with connecting to other wallets on a local network. Here is a version I switched to yesterday that has the GPU monitoring working properly. It is from a fairly longstanding blog that I have followed for awhile so I trust the binary: http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/files/sph-sgminer-fuguecoin-windows.zipI do agree that a GPU-mining supported pool is necessary for this coin to have widespread mining support, or else it will just be a small number of big GPU farms battling over blocks solo-mining. I don't think it's quite there yet - I still got 2 blocks overnight on my 280X.

I am getting ~114MH/s on my single 280X.
I played around with overclocking memory and engine in Afterburner but ended up crashing my system, so I decided to just leave good enough alone for now.
I also haven't been able to use the pool with GPU mining (can connect but no work available) so just going solo for now until there are more pools available.
share your config please ... I just used the config suggested by PHM: GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 DISPLAY=:0 sgminer.exe -k fuguecoin -o 127.0.0.1:9089 -u drmavis -p x -I 25 -g 4 -w 64 And have my GPU-engine at 1000, GPU-memclock at 1500, and powertune 20

If SGMiner is working correctly, you will be receiving output similar to below (I also wanted to announce that I am excited to get my first-ever block doing solo-mining!):
[08:48:52] Network diff set to 39 [08:48:52] New block detected on network [08:49:04] Network diff set to 39 [08:49:04] New block detected on network [08:49:08] Found block for Pool 0! [08:49:09] Accepted 024dd145 Diff 111/39 BLOCK! GPU 0

The Metiscoin GPU miners come with a directory with .cl files for each of the component hashes - does anybody know how to just use the fugue cl file (which I think is called metis.cl) and get it to compile for SGMiner? See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=424517.100
