Anyone with knowledge of candlesticks?

I've been confirmed an expert on candlesticks, without going into too much detail, my backtracked TA based on 3 and 5 SMAC values, confirms this is very bad.

I triple dog confirm.

I thought the Bitcoin Foundation was a good thing? Who are they and why are they bad for bitcoin?

"Robert Shiller, Yale Professor of Economics, and two other professors from the University of Chicago - Eugene Fama and Lars Peter Hansen - won the Nobel Prize in 2013 for their research into market prices and asset bubbles."

If I were a "back surgeon" then A LOT of people with back problems would need surgery.  If you are looking FOR a bubble it LOOKS like a bubble but the problem is we don"t know what Bitcoin will do because it is new and there really isn't anything to compare it to.

From what I have read here, BTC-China decided to play it safe, and stopped accepting cash deposits. They now use vouchers that one can buy at e-commerce sites -- a system which is very cumbersome at least.

Huobi and OKCoin still accept cash deposits through commercial bank accounts.  I have read here that the owners are related to powerful politicians; if true, that may explain why they have chosen to run this risk.  I have seen no reports of problems with withdrawals, but presumaby they must be in CNY only.

Now this interests me a lot if true. Kind of gives credence to the whole China pump n dump conspiracy theory, with the end result intended to be a few interested insiders within the Chinese Hierarchy coming into possession of a shit-load of cut price coins.

I recently explained the whole Bitcoin phenomenon and current state of affair to someone who I will describe as a Man of the Street/Wide-boy. His immediate response was that "the Chinese will go mad for Bitcoin cos it is a way of getting their wealth out the country, but the Chinese big boys will want to control it and to do that, they will crash it and buy it up without telling anyone".......

Mat, So am I to think that there is to be a crash +/- 1 Feb followed by a run up by Chinese big boys?  Is that your take?
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: In 2018 bitcoin might collapse... on: January 21, 2014, 02:25:55 PM
I am new so this may sound like a stupid question ( and who knows it maybe Smiley) but since bitcoin is not centralized who would make such a correction?

Besides - the big news in France today will be which of the president's mistresses is actually the First Lady of France.

Why, the hot young blonde one of course.

Ooh la la Cheesy

(seriously though, I feel kind of bad for his long term girlfriend)

(ha! take that Americans! Our leaders aren't married, they have *girlfriends* and *mistresses*, and we still elect them!)

(it also helps that they aren't climate science deniers Cheesy)
A man cheats on his wife, he'll cheat on anyone. "Climate Change" is a scam designed to separate YOU from your MONEY and FREEDO

Funny you think France is in a better position than America when we're BOTH being lowered into the vat of boiling oil. You via the Euro, us via the Federal Reserve.

SPACE LIZARD JEWS are controlling the FED via mind control satellite rays that the ILLUMINATI installed eons ago in your ancestors' HEADS!!!

*nervous eye twitch*

I rarely feel as bearish about the future of Bitcoin as when I realize how many batshit crazy rightwingers are attracted to it :/

Sorry to be so cynical here, but I suppose you mean bearish in the sense of "what-a-shame-that-Bitcoin-will-be-making-so-much-money-for-the-batshit-crazy-rightwingers", right?  Wink

I wish. More like BTC <--> FoxNewsBux, in the worst case scenario. The currency of choice for the timothy mcveigh's of the world to buy supplies to prepare for the impending communist invasion.

@Mad Scientist: Sorry for calling you "bat shit crazy". I don't know you, so I'm probably wrong. But climate science simply isn't a scam. It's a properly executed research topic. There are still open questions, true, but the basic results are almost universally accepted by the scientists inside the field, and fields close to it: (1) global warming is taking place, (2) a significant cause for (1) is man made. Like I said, details are open for debate and not agreed upon in the field, and most importantly, it is not clear what are the *consequences* to be drawn from the findings, but the whole "global warming is a scam" idea is deeply offending to anyone who ever set a foot into a university and/or worked in research himself

ODA,
I consider myself a conservative and I am in your camp. I have seen the research and have no doubts that there is climate change as a result of man.  Not all of us are bat shit crazy   lol  I feel your frustration though.  I feel one of the problems is people dont understand its climate "change" and "extremes" not just warming.  any way just wanted you to know you have at least one friend on your side that is a "right winger" and I am doing my best to spread the word.
51  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - Broken trend line on: January 14, 2014, 04:01:54 PM
Of course this is a bear market, you don't need TA to see that.  We're clearly heading for sub $100 in the short term.  Might rebound to $150 or so before continuing to $0.  As all the societal usefulness has already been extracted from bitcoin, it's all downhill from here.  Duh.

Prooudhon, whats your logic? You dont think that in the coming months/Years that more people will use bitcoin as speculation and/or for currency?  Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to trade on the difference between the two.  Thanks from the "new guy"

That is called "arbitrage trading". As far as I can tell, it is happening all the time and is keeping all markets in lockstep, even those of other cryptocoins.

The difference between MtGox and the others seems to be due to the difficulty and cost of getting USD out of there; it cannot be exploted for arbitrage, on the contrary it is arbitrage that keeps the ratio relatively constant in spite of the large price fluctuations.

Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated

Widening gap mean what , we go up or down Huh
The gap means that having 1.00 USD in a MtGox account is as good as having ~0.85 USD in a Bitstamp or other exchange's account.  The widening means that the "Gox dollar" is losing value.
