41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICN] iCoin - Fast. Simple. Secure. Now on Coinpayments and 5 Exchanges on: March 03, 2014, 11:14:26 PM
Thanks  Smiley

Been pleased with the mining experience so far.  I've pointed my modest 5 x MSI R9 280x rig at the pool, adding approx. 3.5 - 3.6 mh/s of extra hash.

Looking forward to seeing iCoin develop and be part of the community.

Cheers.

Hi Folks,

I've just discovered the iCoin community, and have to say that I'm very impressed both with the coin, dev involvement and the great friendly conversations being had.  Definitely very refreshing after the too many sub-standard "quick-buck" crap-coins being released and in circulation at the moment, along with the flimsy community backing/support.

Can anyone recommend a decent mining pool, I've had a look through the official list on this thread, though most of these either don't have any (or very few) miners or are no longer online?  With the current diff. level are many of you taking a punt by solo mining?

** Update:  I signed up at SpeedMiner ***

Thanks  Smiley

Three Alt-Coins launched (or tried to) today, and all failed...  Not a good ratio....   Some pre-validated testing required across the board before a launch.

Everything appeared, and still is, working from here... Mining quite happily.

Also, FYI - some coins for sale by the looks at the Exchange:  https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-GPU

Wait for multipool to come.  They are finishing leaf coin off first

agreed!

I think adding kimoto gravity for diff would be smart to do ASAP before multi-pools jump on smartcoin and suck the life out of it.

Looking at the net hashrate looks like a multipool is already jumping on smartcoin as diff goes down. Just jumped 1 GH.

-->+1 That would be a necessary, and smart move, else risk being left with a shell of a coin after the inevitable pump and dump(s) from this new interest from the high-hashers.

It has happened before and the pool owner is a good guy, I think it will get sorted Smiley

That's reassuring - thanks.  Smiley

smt wrong with http://etoken.pool.digiraha.ee pool, no payout for few hours  Huh Huh

I've noticed that as well, is that normal for this pool.  Hung process perhaps?  I've stopped mining there for the time-being - just in case.

why i get this message on coinarmy

Unable to login: Account locked.

how to withdraw my coins now?

Probably a good idea to keep using the 'Anonymous' user name settings, as by providing your username in the pool stats we'd be giving any potential hackers a head-start (ie: username, etc).

My 2 cents/pence/euros.  Smiley

We have been 40 minutes without rewards at CoinArmy pool. What's going on?

Seeing the same thing, any ideas anyone?

Seen this happen before on many other pools - the cron jobs aren't running so it's not paying out.

All your shares will be accounted for once the pool operator gets in there and restarts the jobs.

Bottom line, you haven't lost anything but may take awhile for it to get caught up.

Was hoping that was the case - thanks for letting us know.  Smiley

I know the feeling re: R9 290 fan noise levels.  I am running two R9 290's and they are so loud you could hear them from the room next door, not to mention the heat they generate.  Am thinking of selling them and swapping them out on that rig for 280x's instead.  That is why really want to make sure that I get the right make/model of 280x that runs quietly and that I can undervolt to (hopefully) run 4 of them off my 1250W Seasonic PSU.

Thanks for the responses.  Smiley

How loud are the Sapphires (Dual-X and Vapour) when mining?  Are the cooling fans pretty quiet?  ie:  don't sound like a small jet engine (I have an R9 290 that I mine with and that thing is loud and hot).

Cheers

Thanks, though stupid question   Cheesy  What make/model is the BF Edition?

Thanks, Smiley do you know if the Toxic's are able to be under-volted at all?  Unfortunately the power consumption is a real factor for me.

Were the Gigabyte WF3 280x simple to under-volt?  Did you just use the util or did you need to reflash, etc?  Also, do they run pretty quiet with the three cooling fans?  They look like a nice model.

Thanks

I own both 290's and 280x's - I would recommend going for the 280x's.  Sure, you will get extra MHs out of the 290's though only about an extra 100 - 150 (depending on who you speak to and how much they like to over-clock/over-volt their cards).  Also, the 290's on the market at the moment don't seem to have the best fan cooling arrangement, meaning that they tend to be very noisy, and also run very hot (ie: it isn't unusual for a 290 to run at 90-95 degrees as normal).

So, I personally would go for the 280x's (make sure you get a good brand/model for mining) and save yourself some money in doing so (and your hearing Smiley ).  Bang for buck the 280x's seem to be the sweet-spot (at least at the moment).

Hope this helps - note: this is my opinion, others may take a different view.

Hi,

Based on your experience, can you recommend a particular make/model of AMD R9 280X GPU that you've found to be stable, and that is able to be under-volted (ideally out of the box - without re-flashing, etc).  I'm looking for an economical 280X card to run, that provides average/good hash, eg: 730-740mhs approx.

I currently run a pair of 290's, which is similar to sitting near a pair of jet engines (as well as running very hot), and also a pair of MSI 280x's - which are a nice card (quiet and run cool), though I can't under-volt them, so am having something of a re-think of what I run in my rigs.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations/advice.  Smiley

Quick Q:  Is there a way to generate a paper wallet for Pesetacoin?

Thanks
